Our 1st BGOL team has launched their product.

I was just asking because @gmail.com seemed more like a personal email to me. I thought having @bluntbit.com was more business looking. But your right it really doesn't make a difference.

You have a point.

This is an email I received from a company in Germany:

Dear ----,

thank you for your Email.

First of all, kindly ask you to provide us with informations about your
company - Copy of your licence/ Registration, your company's
full style, furthermore your balance sheets for last two years and your
bank details.

Please be informed, that do answer only Emails sent from official
company's Email adress !

Thank you

Mit freundlichen Grü?en / Kind regards
S p?átelskym pozdravem / С уважением

...I, of course, sent the email from my gmail account.

u mean google apps for business? we have a 60 day trial i believe but haven't activated it as of yet.

they charge per email address now, btw. nothing much but that changed about a year ago i think. used to be free.

but... just wondering...why would you send an email to bluntbit[at]bluntbit.com if you have an email account + the contact form already?
Don't know about Google Apps for Business, but hosting accounts usually offer email forwarding for free..

Having an email like "ContactUs@BluntBit.com" instead of a contact form comes across more professional..

thought i would share a few tips/suggestions....

for content you can sign up for google alerts...you put in whatever keywords you are looking for....google will email you daily with new content matching the keywords

as someone mentioned earlier...i would find a way to get an opt-in form on the site in the near future....start building your email list...bills you already know where im going with that

this is just a thought...down the road i would love to see a site like this that also features local/regional news and events..broken down similar to how they do it on yahoo.com or cnn.com....we really need something like that but just for us

again....keep up the good work gentleman:D

So eewwll, have you thought about starting a second team to see what could be done within the same timeframe?...

It would be cool to see two projects going at the same time, and with Team 2 maybe comparing experiences with the BluntBit Team..

I've thought about it. However, I don't have any definitive timeframe on doing it. It's still very early for this one and before I really consider a second team, I should probably make sure I get the first team going in the right direction.

Man I'm seriously thinking of putting my bid in for the next installment..... this shit LOOKS AWESOME

And also, anyone thought about hitting up Michael Angelo for some insight?..

He's probably the most successful blogger here, and consistently gets 700,000 to 900,000 views per month with BSO..

He may provide a few LinkBacks if you guys do any Sports posts..

1. The goal is not to make a successful site

The goal is to show how to make a successful site and that includes what is looks like in the beginning, the thought processes that go into every stage, the failures, the successes so that the transparence helps a larger set of people.

I don't understand why people feel that you only release a product when it's perfect. If that was the case Zuckerberg would still be working on facebook and still trying to figure out when to launch.

This is a collaboration project.

Some people are already asking about traffic. How about you ask how you yourself can help to drive traffic? Put down the crab claws.

Truth.

This is very important as they'll need to be able to identify great content before it gets picked up by the masses. One of the keys to Upworthy's success is identying video quickly and getting it viral early before others identify it.

Good feedback.

All of this is appreciated. I'm helping the guys daily and putting in lots of time with them but my bandwidth is limited. That's the reason why I wanted to make this a collaborative effort. We can produce more working together

1st let me say this was real good look. Second, and I don't mean to step on any toes but how do you plan to monetize the site?

It's a content-based site, so it will be through advertising. We'll document the process and also be pretty transparent on the revenue run-rate once we begin talking revenue.

OK I want in if you will have me but not til after new years ;-)

Connect with the guys. One of the first things I mentioned to them was to eventually open things up to "content contributors". Lots of capable people right here on BGOL.

Re-visiting this. I still don't want to pull the trigger on this too soon. However, I'm considering an idea around cryptocurrencies (i.e. bitcoin) for the next team. There is a reason why this first time has gone with this type of concept that we've chosen for bluntbit.com

I think some people have confused it with a normal blogging site, but it's not. It's not a blog site. It's a content-curation site (in the vein of upworthy or buzzfeed). I wanted to save the team time by already having a good argument for the idea at the start.

I've been thinking over another one for quite some time in regards to cryptocurrencies. I'm just not sure if something like that would be too tech-based for the board.

We're open, email us from the site or pm us however you need to contact us for a story you think is great.

This is going to grow into a big community getting that voice out there nationally.

A member has already reached out with a story and it's already up on the site..just to show how quick the turnaround process is.

So submit! and share. we're always working on it.

Get in on the ground floor I should say.

Didn't dude say he didn't want to start out with multiple projects, because he wants to make sure this project gets the proper attention, ultimately increasing the odds of achieving whatever goals they're trying to achieve?

Let these dudes work.

Dude already said he was going to be transparent. They just started, and niggas are already here in here throwing out new ideas and being all overly anxious.

Cot damn.

Chill the fuck out. They JUST fucking started.

Who the fuck asked you?..

I know I asked someone a question, and last time I checked your name wasn't eewwll.. Please refrain from addressing me. I've been nothing but civil here, and all you're looking for is a fucking flame war..

Microblogging.... Basically a blog that focuses on short blurbs, Top Lists, and viral video clips (maybe with a rating system).. I get the vision..

Should be cool to see it develop..

SMH @BGOL. With all the page views and responses in this thread, they only have 4 twitter followers. I know more people than that in here have a twitter account. That is all.

Anonymity.

I was following under my organization's Twitter account but reconsidered. I may re-reconsider.

I think the strategy is to build the site up to the point where traffic is high enough to help attract marketers and then sell it off to parties who see the potential in it. Kind of like how Black Voices was bought over by Huffington Post.

I've always thought that was going to be an issue. Not until there are a considerable amount of followers (where people can blend in), do I think many BGOLers will follow. You always have to be fearful of the "ock" here.

I can see that for facebook, I'm leery of that one, even tho I don't think the lists of people who like pages are public anymore, or even in the above situation, where someone may not want their business associated with something that could be considered to skew toward something too urban or that is not racially diverse. (OP didn't say that, but since the content isn't x-rated that's all I can think of) But twitter? Maybe I can't see it because I'm not on there much anymore. I mostly retweet others now. All we have to do is see who follows @BGOL1996 for the most part. People have followed me simply because I already follow BGOL. Unless they have link backs to their facebook page or post personal pics, I don't see the issue. Half the names on here are the same on twitter anyway.

YEP. I don't have beef w/ anyone here, but at the same time I dont someone posting my private info all over BGOL.

I recall the acct you're talking about, tho I didn't see anything that personally identified you. I keep forgetting about the maturity of some of these folx, tho I can't see them targeting you on twitter over some BS on here. Wait. I take that back. I can TOTALLY see it. smh...

It was about 2 months ago that a friend of mine started posted those in his facebook feed and then like a week later it was like a virus....popping up all over my feed.

And that is it right now..... a virus

I think we could do some quick comics addressing thoughts around current issues

e.g the missing doctor
maybe someone called Nancy Grace about a missing person and Nancy getting the call, asking for description, says black and then she returns to doing her nails saying no one cares about missing black people

Shit like this that uses satire.

Also a lot of the ock pics skills should now be used to create ock pics of politicians e.g. the georgia senator that wants kids to sweep floors in exchange for free lunch

Those things will go VIRAL

Brilliant. Now THAT's shareable content

There are a lot of political perspectives that black peopel share that white people haven't thought of, yet black people are the largest demographic on twitter (black twitter).

Comics, satire etc is perfect

A quick trip to the political board got this:

Six Million Living On NOTHING But Food Stamps
http://www.bgol.us/board/showthread.php?t=456009

We could then show a white yuppies donating to international non-profits to alleviate poverty by crossing the street away from the 6 million americans to some "poor" country while in the background the multi-national companies are digging up money from the ground.

Message being don't forget the source of the problems as well as causes in your own backyard
