I just want to formally announce the launch of the project from the "proposal" thread.

The initial project annoucement is here.

The premise rested on being able to put together a team from bgol to launch a successful web-based business.

Our team was officially chosen on Monday Dec 10th. One week later, the team has officially launched the project: Blunt Bit www.bluntbit.com

You can read more about things here: http://www.bluntbit.com/us/

Blunt bit is essentially a social news and entertainment website. They will curate and create original content from their unique point of view.

The team looks forward to your feedback and contributions. They're really looking forward to you guys giving them constructive feedback, opinions on the content, and support. They've essentially created the service with bgol in mind. This an opportunity to show support for one of your own. Just consider that the team has only been at it for a week. It's just the start of a long journey.

You can keep track of their progress at www.launchfactors.com

For instance, I've been keeping a daily log of their progress here

Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
Day 5
Day 6
Day 7 (launch)

You can see their first 90 day challenge goals here.

This blog was created to give a daily log of the entire process. I'll also write on topics related to launching a web business (or any type of startup for that matter) and I'll also answer non-project related questions on the blog. As stated, although I will only be working with those two directly, I wanted to provide a bit of a framework for others. This framework is going to be established through this project. I'll go back and refine previous posts as we go along. It's going to be a work in continuous progress.

Regarding future teams:

I'm considering it and I'm pretty sure it will happen.

I do think I want bring some clarity as to why I choose largebillsonlyplease and themainman and what will give someone a chance of being selected for the possible next round.

1. The reasons why I choose bills and themainman:

a. Complimentary skill-sets

Bills is the creative force. Themaimain is more of business man. Now they both can be creative and both understand business but they clearly have strengths and weaknesses that compliment each other

b. Temperament

Though they have much different personalities, they are both "open". By that I mean open to other's arguments, open to being criticized, etc. It's a kind of ego-less temperament that makes it much easier for two people to work together on a goal.

c. Communication

I communicated with them a lot by PM and off bgol before making the decision. Obviously, the better you know someone, the easier it is to make a judgement on their ability and decision-making. It's important for me not only to pick someone who is skilled, but someone who is more likely to put the work in.

2. If you would like to be apart of the next team(s), you can improve your odds by:

a. Being proactive in involving yourself with Blunt Bit

The easiest way to make a judgement on future behavior is by looking at past behavior. There will be a plethora of ways of getting involved with Blunt Bit: providing feedback, commenting on articles, being a content curator, sharing content, collaborating with the team, etc. I will be paying attention to those contributors and that will give you better odds when choosing the next team

b. Direct communication with me.

Simply, the better I know you, the better I can judge the likelihood of a productive process with you. This takes a lot of time. Also, the success rate is important as it will most likely be the most important factor in getting other people to take the leap. So, it's important for me to choose carefully.

The decision is no reflection on anyone's ability. It's just a decision based on the information available and then intuition. Some of you guys certainly can do great things without my assistance and there is no assurance this project will be successful in the first place. However, I like the team's chances.

Stay tuned for updates. I will use this thread to track this project and future projects. Hopefully the mods will keep it stickied for a while.

Even if you just come out of lurk-mode to give a word of support. Throw some support to the team. I'm sure it will motivate them.

Intense process so far.
From the initial thread and applying and then going through the rounds with the pm's and all of that stuff and trying to figure out who's in who's out and if I would make it or not was a little nerve wrecking. I can say from the 1st official meeting on it's been taking care of business.

Ewwll assigned us tasks each day and we were both on them. I can say that we both work without ego and listen to each others ideas and suggestions, and kind of naturally fell into roles in development so that's been really good.

I'm excited about growing the site, and content and giving a real voice on so many topics. There isn't a place out there that has this, that you would be able to pass links on or share on your social media sites, not with the real opinions and how we really feel about the stories and the culture overall.

Above everything else we need this to be a success so that more teams and more projects can be spawned and we could take things over one group at a time. I truly believe we can.

We're going to go full speed ahead every single day to make it the best and most unique place you can go to anywhere you are.

Props to everyone.

Can you think about adding Google+ as a share option?

Edit:. Never mind I see it

Watup fam.

Glad to be apart of something that will hopefully inspire others.

The concept is pretty simple... by design. Still have alot of work to do but hopefully sharing with the board as things are moving will give folks some insight into the nuts and bolts and maybe somebody will learn something as we push fwd.

Lot of things in the hopper and alot of work to get done. We def grinding but the roadmap is solid. Let's see what we can make it do.

and yea the name... ode to the OT... original troll.

edit:
btw lemme say bills is good folks. e is too. if we can all put our ego and other bullshit aside sometimes im pretty sure we can do, build, create more together. hopefully this serves as an example. we'll be posting "blunt" updates on whats going on. ups and downs. challenges and wins.

If we want to submit content we think would be good is that ok and how would we go about doing that?

Props

Taking action getting it done.

I'm too involved with my current projects....however in the future i would love to be on a team

If we want to submit content we think would be good is that ok and how would we go about doing that?

Eventually there will be a content submission form. For now, while things are in beta, just hit the contact page and you can send news stories, video, links etc.

Basically looking for content that you think may be interesting, crazy, or dope in some way shape or form.

If we want to submit content we think would be good is that ok and how would we go about doing that?

Hell yea that's ok. Like i said in my initial post, this is our perspective on a wide range of issues/topics. There isn't a mainstream place that you can say is honestly thinking how you're thinking that you can put on display or share on your facebook timeline or tweet out or +1 it and get a good laugh about it with all your friends.

and submit content button for now, we'll definitely be on top of that and review and posting at all times of day and night. but the more contributors and the more shares and likes means the bigger it becomes and the bigger our voice on the internet becomes..

changing the narrative

so spread it all around when you can, submit content when you can just check out the site we're going to cover it all

make you think, make you laugh... just make you look at things. we'll have it covered

no to diss but dosent take much to put up a website. It's the traffic part and optimizing for SEO that I'd like to know.

slowhands watup bruh?

well you see in the beginning i mentioned its a simple concept. nobody said we were building a rocketship. but the a to z process is what we are hoping to share w/ this project. and yea part of that will be driving traffic to the site, handling social... but also making improvements based on results, user feedback, etc...

PROPS TO FAM!!!

On a side note, to help improve their game, It would be nice if they can post a total list of where they are getting their traffic from

That will be on the blog. We'll give at least a bi-weekly update on traffic stats

I use to have a blog.. Got 200,000 unique views my first month, and that shit was hard work.. I got featured on some very high traffic blogs, made a couple hundred off of Adsense, and then soon after I started, I quit.. Blogging looks easy, but its hard fucking work.

I'll be watching this closely because if you guys meet your goal, and pull off 1,000,000 unique views in 90 days without paying for traffic, I'll be thoroughly impressed..
