This world is ruled by money,Will & Jada have it in abundance so after all of her seemingly valid points die down after a week or so The Smiths will still be filthy rich and she'll be seen as a bitter, hating bitch. If she was a talented actress she should've gotten another role straight after Fresh Prince.
quite frankly NOBODY else got much of anything after that show ended...
carlton - game show host and occasional tv director..directly after fresh prince he teamed up with another rapper LL cool J for his sitcom (that was back when they were throwing shows at rappers and R&B singers)
ashley - struggles to get roles like any other actress and she keeps releasing albums no one wants to hear
hilary - same IF she's still in the business
geoffrey- back on the stage in england
aunt viv 2 - guest spots here and there
uncle phil - same until he died
jazz - dj jazzy jeff never really seemed to care to be an actor
nicky - who? the little kid they added in the later seasons....oh yeah him whatever happ-oh who cares
so even if janet hubert HADN'T had a riff and got fired chances are she would just be marginally doing better than she is now but most likely not lighting up the world.
but her points aren't "seemingly" valid theyre very valid...she's talking about solidarity and showing how will smith doesn't have any unless it directly affects him and those in his orbit. Really look and read that statement jada made
Maybe it is time that we pull back our resources and we put them back into our communities and our programs and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit...
we, regular struggling blacks, talk about doing that every single day if we EVER had the opportunity and money and those motherfuckers ARE rich and privileged and there NOW and this is the FIRST TIME jada's EVER said anything like that..but ONLY in the context of when they are personally denied something which means in 2001 when he was nominated for Ali (and lost to Denzel for training day) and 2006 when he was nominated for pursuit of happyness (and lost to Forrest Whitaker for last king of scotland) the idea of "pulling back resources and putting it our communities blah blah" was NEVER even CONSIDERED. That goes to Janets point that when she talked to Will about collective bargaining for more money for the cast and his response was your deal is your deal and my deal is my deal. Now I get why he said that...the show was created for HIM..he was still coming out of bankruptcy having fucked up all his rap money and he didn't want to blow what he had by playing hardball with the network and he certainly wasn't going to take a pay cut for the rest of the cast to get a bump (which is what the Friends cast did.) but that speaks to why you rarely see true black unity because theres always going to be someone who has their own agenda who only pay lip service to that while still working behind the scenes for themselves.
