He fought Kelley and it was no cake walk for Naseem. Always liked Kelley, but by the time Hamed came over to the states to fight him, Kelley was already shot and been in many wars. HBO hand picked Kelley thinking it would be an easy fight for their new star.

I consider myself a boxing head, and I can name only two known fighters the man fought, Marco Antonio Barrera and Kevin Kelly.
Then you know less about boxing that you thought you did..because he has fought more notable names than just those two you mentioned

Prince Naseem ALSO beat Cesar Soto who was the WBC champ at the time I believe..and Cesar Soto beat Jose Luis Castillo by KO when he was 18-0 with 17 KO's

He had a good run but fought nobodies.....he did put it on Kevin Kelly though......but most of his comp were bums.

He was entertaining, lightning fast and could strike from awkward angles...

But he fought bums mostly.

I liked Prince Naseem. He had power and fought unorthodox. That said, he fought bums.

Oh and by the way Augie Sanchez defeated Floyd in the amateurs they fought 3 times Floyd lost one and the two other times it was close..he gave floyd a hard time but won the other two

And for the record Morales AND Marco BOTH ducked the prince/turned down the fight more than once when offered to fight Prince Naseem for a good while in the beginning...then finally Marco B took the fight and beat him.

I could understand ducking him. He was a risky fighter to fight in that his style was so unorthodox and he had the Power to KO anybody. His antics often got in fighters heads and they would relax and give him opportunities.

Extremely unorthodox fighter with fast hands that had a lot of power...as mentioned before he beat Kevin Kelly so it wasnt all bums...started being trained by Emanuel Steward which most now feel was a mistake because he made him a bit more orthodox which took away his main strength...was humiliated by Barrera...overall, he was "okay"...real deal? nah but he wasn't a bum

He had flaws yes but he most def COULD fight... and did beat some decent fights and or former champions like Boom Boom Johnson NOT a bum,Augie Sanchez was 27- 1 with 23 KO's NOT a bum,Kevin Kelly NOT a bum,Wilfredo Vázquez NOT a bum and Wayne McCullough def NOT a bum of whom at the time was in his prime 21 wins 1 loss and 14 KO's and Wayne was NO bum..s in the words of Roy Jones Jr.."Y'all Musta Forgot"

ive seen this mentioned a few times as the real reason for his decline, cant remmeber the video of this other trainer talking about it on a telephone interview

FOH......that dude was classic HBO hype.....

And during that time there were a few boxers that were nothing but HBO hype

Nah bro, he could fight, but he had his flaws like everybody else. He has some decent names on his resume, and his only real loss was to Barrera and there's no shame in that.

Now, David Reid, Fernando Vargas, Adrien Broner, Ricardo Williams Jr, HBO stays hyping up bums...

the Joe Calzaghe of Bantam to featherweights..

This actually could be considered a compliment... Calzaghe beat:
Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins (who went on to beat: (Roy Jones, Kelly Pavlik, Jean Pascal, and had JUST beat Winky Wright, and Antonio Tarver prior to their fight), Mikkel Kessler, Jeff Lacy....

While a LOT of foreign fighters are bums, a lot of Dudes talk that shit primarily because THEY don't know about them.

While Calzaghe was late in coming over here, he had some good names on his belt and definitely was not a bum but a very skilled, high volume punching fighter.

Every fighter is not going to have in and around their weight class a lot of HOF fighters, but Naseem beat some quality fighters in his career: Vuyani Bungu,Cesar Soto, Wilfredo Vasquez, Manuel Medina were ALL quality fighters...

Funny how, a Dude like Hamed is considered by Dudes here to be an overrated Bum, yet a poser like Adrien Broner, whose biggest career win was against Paulie Malignaggi, and his ledger is FULL Of tomato cans, but some Dudes on here claim he's that Dude?!?!?! Hamed lost to HOF'er Barerra, Broner lost to Shawn Porter and Marcos Maidana (embarrassingly)...

Hamed might not be a HOFer, but he was by far not a bum... Flawed Yes, bum no...

I think this is BS. Steward is recognized as one of the best trainers ever and his past trainer never had another successful fighter. He won 3 straight under Steward. The real issue was that eventually Naseem had to step up his competition and that is when he started losing. With his old trainer he was KOing bums without putting in much work. As a matter of fact, Steward stopped training him because he didn't want top put any work in. I think alot of the Trainer talk is a lil racial. As I said, Steward(brutha) is one of the best trainers ever and his old trainer (white) never trained another decent fighter.Naseem was fighting scrubs so of course he looked better than when he fought some actual contenders.

He was fun to watch in his prime. That Halloween ring entrance way back in the day was one of the better ones ... shit ... that was 18 years ago this coming Monday (Halloween 1998).

Damn those anti depressants will kill you from all the weight gain.

Yeah I can't deny Kelly, but he kinda roped him put of his game that night.

I watched something where Naseem talked about having that curse of brittle hands and as a KO kinda boxer, that took away some of his motivation , so he bailed out soon after

had talent... was entertaining... but not quite as much talent as he thought.

 mufucka had a delux Choppa suit

At Buckingham Palace to get the Member of the British Empire. Which was withdrawn once he got the conviction. I always thought he bit Chris Eubanks Senior's style, though.

Never watched him fight, did not pay much attention to those lower class ofighting.
