Can any of you cats in the field give me some info on opportunities in Houston? i may be moving there in a few months and looking to try something new. I have over ten years of executive management experience but none in Energy.
Any shot?

Schlumberger, Halliburton, M I Swaco and them Fugro survey fucks don't do shit all day!!

Every fucking time I'm flying to a target, I have to remind the lazy fucks to turn on my tracking cause they are on the bridge watching a damn movie. :smh:

Wait you wear a suit and tie with 10 years of executive experience but want to switch to manual labor? What are you going to do when You get dirty ? Nothing against you personally but these jobs are a long way away from your working conditions.

This shit been on my mind so tough today I almost told the boss to kiss my ass today. i left early to check out some schools in Texas. Coworker of mine was telling me about his old fracking job and got to showing me old check stubs and i just shook my head. Geezus if I'd have known about this in my youth..

I am at that point with my job, I feel like I am wasting time and talent. Shit I need a career, I'm getting too old for this bullshit. :hmm:

Exactly. I KNOW I'm built for better than this but I just have never been able to get my foot in the right door. For that matter I've never known where that door even was. And time is ticking. I'm wasting myself.

Is it worth pursuing the degree to work in that field, say, if one got a couple of violent misdemeanor charges AND a shitload of traffic related convictions?... No felonies though...

Sent from my real ass galaxy s3!

Look up the Texas Workforce Commision page I know companies advertise with them. Also research and find employment agencies in industrial areas. That is where contract or companies post their job openings. There is one in Pasadena , Texas but the name forgets me. Also another is in Clear Lake area. Indeed.com has a ton of jobs posted on there to. Try and look up pipeline jobs as well. Also try and get into an apprentice program with a union.

waste of tax payer money... if you vote for me people I will end this

Can one of you guys compile a list of companies that hire people with no experience? Or if that list has already been made, can one of you point me in the direction of where I can find it.

First things first man if any of u cats are moving to Texas you gotta get a TWIC card...without that you shit outta luck

Everybody can use a change in life but some of u cats talking bout going from an office job to working on a rig or in a refinery are u sure about that???

And also man dont limit yourselves to thinking about one or two types of jobs...so much to do

Boilermakers make bread depending on who u contract with or work for...and the work can be dirty and conditions rough...I worked at a chemical plant for 2yrs in the maintenance dept and man I worked on all kinds of shit...some days I worked 22hrs or 18hrs and on and on...OT is MANDATORY

Pipefitting, I&E Techs, Welders...I saw a mexican with his own rig and dude traveled all over the place...told me he was doing a job in ND making $100hr...$50hr for his rig $25hr for welding and the rest perdiem...Electricians, Crane riggers and operators and it goes on and on

Companies here like Zachry and Mundy have jobs all over the south...and of u cats in the midwest ever see URS and NOOTER??? I see em whenever I go to refineries out that way...dudes picking up trash making $18hr

And also look into getting a NCCER certification...if you have that you pretty much good to go as some companies require u to have it

Been dealing with this for a few yrs now, I stay positive though, got bills to pay and people to feed. I changed fields a few yrs ago, I'm not where I should be, thinking about going back to school, or starting a business of my own.

Thanks...good info...I'm not tryna even front like I can do the heavy duty stuff...but if I can get something in a similar capacity to the dude in the vid...I have to see what the pay is for that position tho...2 years and $2400 is nothing even if it's just to have something in my pocket I can use later on @ the very least...I have to look @ the local colleges tho and see what they have or maybe see if those schools down by y'all offer online courses

Yeah most of the schools are in the South for us dumb Bama's. When I got my process degree I paid less than 2,400 for it. My 1st pay check could of paid for my degree.

a day in the life of an operator

I originally was going to go there. Their program looked hella nice. Ended up going elsewhere do to travel distances. Minus the partying going to process school was more enjoyable than undergrad. Maybe because I knew when I graduated I was gonna be making good money.

I've been trying to get into being an Operator since last summer. Passed the Exxon operator exam and it's been over a year with no call back yet. Passed Lyondell test for Operator as well. They called for an interview but didn't get in on that either.

All these oil jobs in Houston seem to be about who you know. My so called "friends" had tried to look out as far as getting me in, but nothing so far.

Exxon is supposed to be the toughest aptitude type test. Like 1200 people test and they hire only 30.

I've applied to tons of companies for operator jobs, none has ever hit me back for an interview or nothing yet.

I've been recently studying to get my PMP cause I have IT experience that qualifies me to take the exam, other than that, if lotto aint knocking on my door, then I gotta stick to my freelancing hustle, sucks in these times.

 Naw man, I meant in Management in the oil industry. Your right, i ain't cut out for manual labor. Don't get me wrong, If I had to do it I'd roll my sleeves up but its not that kinda situation.

I was just figuring since I may be moving to the energy capital, there might be something along my line of experience.

Now before I give this info to my cousin,he already has a degree but from what I am reading so far the Process Tech takes 2 years to complete or can he get a certificate with his BS.

Also, he informed me he qualifies for some Texas Workforce grant that will pay for his new training.

to me going back and getting an Associates in Process Tech is kind of going backwards..hell he already has a BS why go backwards?

new found respect for moblack.. hes dropping knowledge that he doesnt have to drop.. this some some epic life changing shit.. damn! thanks man

cool vids, LS... been a while since i've worked on a subsea job, and i miss the challenge(s).

the first vid reminds me of a job we did in about 600 ft of water, and a HUUUUUUUUUGE fucking whale came near our subsea tree.

In life sometimes you have to step back to move forward. I have a bachelors degree as well went back and got my associates and doubled my income ASAP. If his bachelors degree was so great he wouldn't even be thinking about making a change.
