Oil Rig Work Apparently Pays MAJOR Bread...

@LordSinister would you say this is a good description of life on an oil rig?

pretty much. I have worked on boats, drilling rigs, semi-submersibles, and drillships. I have also done the connections for a couple of FPSO's. I connected this FPSO back in the day, as well as others in EG, Ghana, and Norway.

Would this translate into calculation of mud weights, or identifying silicate and other types of soil found while drilling? Geo labs and mud loggers sit in an air conditioned van all day, take samples here and there and drink coffee. You really have to look into the type of careers available and how your skills match up.

Can I ask a question? How do they feel about Trump in THAT circle? And how are they CLAIMING they will vote in the next election cycle?
All of them still blame Biden, Obama and Muslims for every single thing. The oil and gas side of LinkedIn is like X right now. A lot of them are on some proud boy nazi shit. BTW I'm going back so I can go back to Africa. I'll never work in the Gulf of Mexico again. :smh::smh:

I rarely post, but this time I have to. Please, please politics aside, and sure let us stick to the law. COL Carl D. Springer, US Army (Ret) you may be missing a point, Sir. The victim was NOT accelerating toward the ICE Officer, she was accelerating AWAY from the ICE Officer. Unfortunately, the ICE Officer never gave the victim a chance but immediately drew his gun and fired three shots, as if the first one was not enough.

Wait... WHAT?!?!?!?
When I worked in the GOM I maxed out at $22 an hour. I transferred to Angola and started at $575 a day plus overseas bonus and I wasn't being taxed. At my peak I was making about $950 a day with 60k in retention and safety bonuses. Eventually, it went back down to about $650 after the crash, but that was still good money.

It's run by rednecks, nepotism, and extra mediocre white men. I was working with Norwegian crews in south Africa in the most difficult ocean on the planet and that shit ran like clockwork. Our tool pushers was a white lady that actually knew her shit. The person overlooking the project was a cool as white chick in her mid 20's. I see why they love socialism. It works there.

Good insight, I know you have some crazy stories, if you get time, post some, and feel free to tag me if you do.

Whelp its true. As black people we REALLY need to travel outside of the US more and see the world and interact with the people.

I worked on the first few explorations of this field. https://www.gem.wiki/Brulpadda_Oil_and_Gas_Field_(South_Africa)

The current runs 2-3 knots daily in this location. The rig cannot maintain location because of this, so we needed tug boats to constantly pull us forward to stay on location. When we launched the rov (undersea robot) by the time we hit depth we were 200-300 meters off location. Meaning I had to fly 1000 feet forward to get back on location. Shit was a nightmare. The support vessel couldn't launch to assist. When they did, the rov would break the cable and I'd have to recover it. Worst offshore conditions I've ever worked in. And I've worked in Perdido and the North sea.
