OFFICIAL UFC 137 ===== Saturday, Oct. 29th - Vegas - Diaz / Penn / Kongo / Mitrione

Re: OFFICIAL UFC 137 ===== Saturday, Oct. 29th - Vegas - Diaz / Penn / Kongo / Mitri

Good card overall. I was very impressed with Cowboy Cerrone. Dude demolished Siver. Meanwhile WTF happened to Brandon Vera? He has looked awful his last few fights, and even though he got the W he barely avoided getting knocked out. I remeber when there was talk of homeboy being the next great heavyweight. :smh:

I'll give Diaz a great chance against Gsp. Diaz is aggressive off his back and has long limbs, he is dangerous wherever the fight goes. Gsp never fought a guy with this level of bjj with Diaz body type. I'm still leaning towards Gsp, but this is truly his most dangerous test.

That Diaz guy is crazy! He will go at GSP and not give a fuck! If the fight goes to the ground there is no way GSP submits someone with Diaz skills.

yeah, lets dust off Royce Gracie & send him out there :hmm:

Haha.... good post. Well honestly Silva has dominated and destroyed his weight class. I actually think he should take a Sonnen rematch before his retirement just to shut his faggot ass up and solidify his legacy for the doubters but it should be on his terms. In the meantime dude should fight GSP, Jon Bones, and then possibly Sonnen. Of course the chances of that actually happening are pretty slim given that Dana has to look at the business angle but from a pure "who should Silva fight?" perspective... it's GSP and Bones.

Silvas last four fights should be first Sonnen, after that retire his belt and then all super fights, Gsp,Shogun, and end his career against Jon Jones, although I would rather not have him fight Jones.

Hmmmmm.... that makes a lot of sense bro. I don't like the idea of Sonnen rematch so early... Silva's win was completely uncontroversial, Chael tapped out. But I guess at the end of the day you and DirtyHubcaps are right... there's no other legit challengers in his division.

Re: OFFICIAL UFC 137 ===== Saturday, Oct. 29th - Vegas - Diaz / Penn / Kongo / Mitri

The UFC brass want the big money fights as they're business-minded first (as are all organizations) while "listening to the fans".

They sure as hell want:

- GSP-DIAZ (as opposed to GSP-CONDIT first)
- JONES-RASHAD
- JONES-SILVA at a catchweight or 205
- SILVA-SONNEN II
- NOT SURE IF SILVA-GSP WILL EVER HAPPEN ... IF IT DOES ... 178 / 180 / 185? IT'S BEEN YEARS SINCE SILVA GOT DOWN TO FIGHTING WEIGHT IN THE 170s ... and he's proven himself at 205lbs (and his walking around body weight can get up to 210 - 215 at times (before cutting down to 185)

They finally found an opponent for Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.

MMAWeekly - Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz Agreed for UFC 141
http://mmaweekly.com/donald-cowboy-cerrone-vs-nate-diaz-agreed-for-ufc-141

Dangerous match-up.:yes:

Big fan of Cowboy's for years. Nate's been up and down over the years between 155 and 170. He looked terrible against Rory MacDonald at 170, then great against Takanori Gomi at 155.

Cowboy's on a roll ... this'll be his 6th fight (December 2011) since December 2010 (WEC event). Clockin' that bank. He scored some bonus $ this past Saturday night too.

One last side-note

Cesar Gracie: Nick Diaz Was Told to Call out Georges St-Pierre
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/925158-cesar-gracie-said-nick-diaz-was-told-to-call-out-georges-st-pierre

I had always thought that the UFC matchmaker was behind pulling the strings whenever anyone was calling anyone out.:smh:

Absolutely. It's the fight BUSINESS. Just like all other pro sports. Big money is big money. Fans want to see what they want to see, and guys like Chael Sonnen (love him or hate him) are the ones who fans are paying attention to. You have to be loved / hated / or that polarizing figure. Like Diaz said at the post-fight presser ... "I've gotta be the bad guy ..." - plus Condit is a contender but leapfrogged others once they scratched Diaz earlier this year (September) for missing the pre- press conferences and media sessions, etc. As for Mauro Ranallo's show ... yeah ... THE MMA SHOW ... it's a good one. I subscribe to it on Itunes .... it used to be THE FIGHT SHOW (MMA / BOXING / PRO WRESTLING) and he has hosted THE MMA SHOW (Wednesdays on The Score here in Canada) for years. He's a good cat. Loves the sport.
