Also they're classic because of Reeve. His story really keeps the memory of that movie alive. That and they're the first Superman movies on the big screen

Good start, good movie, can't wait for the bluray. I think it needs a great sequel to get appreciated more like what "The Dark Knight" did for "Batman Begins"...

Superman had NO CHOICE at that moment. Zod was in full "I don't give a fuck mode" at the time. He told Superman that he would kill everyone on the planet (something Kal-El knew he was serious about when he tried to use the World Engine to Terraform the Earth). Zod was created from birth to be a soldier and protector of Krypton. With Krypton destroyed, the World Engine destroyed, his ship and soldiers sucked back into a black hole, and Kal-El not willing to give up the Codex in him, all he had left to do was take as many people out as he could. Zod had the heat vision on full blast turning his head at that family. Superman couldn't stop him, and at that point did he realize what he had to do.
I don't think he is going to kill every villain in every film. Luthor would not be killed. He was still raised by his father to show control. Unless Luthor has his finger on a button to detonate a Nuke he won't kill him.

actually one movie alone can top it. Aqua man. just imagine an undersea world that makes avatar and asgard look like shit. the only thing i can see as far as hate would be black manta being black and aquaman being white. they will probably make them rivals or brothers. But yes an aquaman movie could top mos easily.

Seven years after Director Bryan Singer's well meaning tribute to the Richard Donner/Christopher Reeve era of Superman films
but ultimately lackluster Superman Returns,the last son of Krypton returns in Man of Steel.
Director Zack Snyder, producer Christopher Nolan, and writer David S. Goyer,breathes new life into the 75 year old story.
MOS is not only an entertaining film but a spectacular experience.
Snyder immerses the audience into Krypton like no other previous Superman film has.The power struggle,the technology,the creatures
the ships,all brought out in vivid SFX.
I wasnt blown away by any of the actor's performances in particular,but they all do solid work.Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Kal-El
has the right look,the right amount of corniness,and bravado to pull off the title roll.
Equally excellent are the actors who portray Superman's biological Kryptonian parents :Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Ayelet Zurer
as Lara Lor-Van and his adoptive parents on Earth Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent,their love and
protectiveness of their son shines through in their performances.
Amy Adams as Lois Lane has great chemistry with Cavill,and displays the right amount of curiousity and persistant nature as
the investigative reporter. Michael Shannon as General Zod is effectively intense,and the only match for his intense portrayal is
Antje Traue as the sinister Faora who is a revelation to me.
The rest of the cast Laurence Fishburne as Perry White ,Harry Lennix as Lieutenant General Swanwick,and Christopher Meloni as
Colonel Hardy make the most of their brief time on screen.
The action in MOS is so intense and relentless,i was happy for a brief family or romantic moment .The score by Hans Zimmer is soul stirring and uplifting.
Some of the characters are underdeveloped,and some quick touches could have been added to at least establish who they are.There are a couple of plot holes
/errors.MOS could have also used more humor.
MOS is a very good first step towards a new series of Superman films,and hopefully and ultimately a Justice League film

From what Ive been able to gather their reasoning fell into the following category
1) They wanted it to be more humorous than serious (like Avengers)
2) They wanted it to be almost exactly like the Donner versions
3) They didn't want Superman to get his hands dirty. Example: killing someone(even if it was Zod)
4) They wanted Clark to be more of a Clown like he was in Donner Superman chasing Lois Lane for the majority of the movie. Running into tables, tripping over gum etc
5) They wanted Clarks parents to encourage him to be more bold about what he can do as opposed to hiding it.
6) They wanted Superman to save the day AND Save everyone at the same time. No collateral damage or at the very least only like 2 people.
7) They wanted Linear Story telling
8) They wanted him to know to go North and not look like a wanderer trying to find himself
9) They wanted him to save Pa Kent regardless of his desire not too
10) They wanted him to change in a Taxi Cab
11) Oh, during the fight throw a plastic "S" from his chest
12) FInally, they wanted him to spin the world backwards to undo all that property damage.

Well, it was. Avengers was a dumbed down flick with hardly any plot. It was a fun watch, but after I saw it once, I haven't wanted to watch it again. I bought the bluray and still haven't watched it.
