The movie.
Great Premise.
Good execution not perfect but good and effective.
Only thing I didn't care for was basically younger wolverine. Could've used more imagination in that regard. Fighting someone else in order to save his kid would've been better Imo.
Heartfelt. Sad. Closure and new beginnings.
It earned every bit of the R rating.
Lil girl did her thing. Stewart had a masterclass in fact I wish there was even more of a maddening Xavier fighting himself trying to be HIM while losing his mind. Greatest strongest mind dying on the inside and all we can do is HOPE we're not around him when he loses his shit. That entire Casino scene was flawlessly executed.
They got it right in my opinion.

Now Logan

Fascinating seeing Logan at this point in his life. I really do love when Heroes get old. They never really get old in the movies they reboot them recast them they're forever young.
I've been wanting to see old ones for a minute. This is Hugh's best performance.
Why?
He's surely like usual he's an asshole like usual. He's just himself but now he's old enough for him to come to the finish line. It's weird. It was despair. For all of the movies before when he lost and hurt it was despair because he knew he'd be around for SO MUCH LONGER and had to deal with it.
All throughout this movie man it was all about coming to the finish line. like FINALLY. and that element added to Logan made all the difference in the world. It's like 1 final purpose he didn't even know he had in him.
Riveting shit.

Naw like I said it has more of a classic graphic novel feel to it. So it has a more human aspect rather than totally relying on use of powers.

But the most powerful telepath in the world with Alzheimer/dementia, makes for a very engaging sub-plot.

YES IT WAS

I had a grandfather and an uncle that BOTH had dementia and started throwing punches when they had episodes. Uncle Blue was a Marine too, he hid his guns and lost them. Granddad was nice but strong as shit. That was a dangerous ass old man to calm down and it took me and my brother to chill them niggas out.

Just got back. I didn't like it. The movie was uneventful. It was pretty much a goodbye to the fans. The story (based loosely on the Old Man Logan storyline) was drab.

Lots of gore, and action spread out over long drawn out story that at parts stalled and felt like it dragged.

There was no big revelation. Or surprise ending leaving us wanting more....Just wanting it to end. And it did end...Not with a bang but a whimper.

DRAY - I dunno what film you was watching fam. Please watch that shit again and take off your nerd goggles. I had to myself. I didn't compare ANY of that shit to Old Man Logan because theyre hands were tied and they couldn't do the story that way - EVEN if they used Sabertooth in place of the Hulk, it just wouldn't work. Only Logan was based on the character from the book.

Moreover they wanted it to close out the timeline with a shock and not be an alternate story. So it is canon but still on that new timelime. If they want to time jump and change shit again to reboot it and the character in 5 years, they could but this universe hit a cold hard reality that is not too far from our own.

I see a bunch of little kids of all colors running away from badge wearing, gun toting white boys chasing them down before they can cross a border - those scenes fucked with my political mind.

I see how Logan had no reason to keep living except for caring for Xavier after he killed the other X Men and became a danger to, not only himself, but everyone around him, I know this is a bad ass drama. The man that has spent his life trying to protect and care FOR everyone is now a danger TO everyone. That revelation was heart breaking.

The way they locked him in that water tower to "cerebro" his old ass alone was very telling. It also explains that Logan is caring for someone he both loves and hates for what he has done. Like a parent that kills your brothers and sisters on accident. Shit is deep.

I see that a bunch of nobody ass crackers won the war - they came outta nowhere and beat the next in line - the political overtones are right there. They won the war between humanity and mutantkind - that pisses me off. Humans had been fucking them up for years without the mutants even knowing. That plot point was so dirty it was just glossed over because to the bad guys, they were just doing business like a... business deal.

I see the government fuck around with Logan for years and finally get it right. Then THE FEAR AND CONFUSION on his face when the adult version of his own clone comes down the steps with that girl, after he killed Xavier was unforgettable. I also see how Logan ran up the stairs for Xavier and didn't even care that his clone had the other clone. That shit was realistic. He went after him for killing Xavier, not for taking the kid. That shit was deep.

A conclusion in whatever Universe this is. Looking back Wolverine and Prof.X don't share all THAT much screen time together in these movies.

True. These are two people that had a glance of a relationship as teacher and student and after their tragedy, they only had each other left to deal with. That is the point, they had bonded more in those last few years on the run than they EVER had before. Then they die without saving each other and nobody to save them...

:smh:

I know you trying to make sense of this movie brotha but don't waste your energy

That doesn't make any sense because the clone could have captured Xavier alive along with X-23. If the Doctor was so smart you would think he would want to clone a WMD rather than a grunt in Logan. BTW, I'll play along and say that Logan lost his super sense of smell :hmm:.....but X-23 didn't have any super sense of smell or hearing? Shouldn't she have smelled the bad guys outside the barn??

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they were NOT close enough for her to pick up their scent yet. X-24 went ahead of them and had the same scent Logan did so she didn't pick up anything when she was sleep. Xavier didn't either - I'm sure he thought that Logan was killing him - finally putting him out of his misery. These cats were trackers and mercs - they know how to move in silence.

I'll add that this company was government sanctioned. They were breeding soldiers. Nobody wanted to clone the professor - especially not with the extent of his power. How could you ever think to control a living cloned telepath? He would be just as dangerous to the people around him as Xavier was.

On top of that X-24 was programmed only to retrieve X-23, like a terminator. This is why he walked right past Logan when he left.

I said this about the bad guys too:

I see people saying that online but then something occurred to me when I was watching it: Magneto always spoke of the war. They won. Government bad guys with corporate backing and the science of machined enhancements. They BEAT homo Superior with backdoor tactics.

It wasn't Magneto or Apocalypse or Mister Sinister... it was simply a human being, the son of a scientist that made it his life's work to suppress the mutant X gene. This is something they toyed around with from way back. The Reavers were all suppressed cyborg mutants too. They never needed to use their powers.

Even as the X Men defeated all of these bigger than life foes the very humans they were protecting were secretly fucking them over all along by fucking with our food supply! That reality is beyond brilliant, that is some damn good writing and something that applies to how the government fucks with our food right now. Again I understand the villains were so so but that was EXCATLY the point - there was nothing special about Donald Pierce and them niggas - they were just henchmen, red shirts willing to die for their cause.

Shit is depressing as hell but it is realistic. This is some Tombstone, Shane, Rambo, Unforgiven, Mad Max type shit all rolled up into a comic book story. And it works.

This is along the lines of Winter Soldier, The Dark Knight and Dredd with its effort.

If this is truly Hugh Jackman's last appearance as Logan/Wolverine/Weapon X/James Howlett,im glad he gets to do it in full berserker barrage mode.
In 2029 mostly all of mutant kind has been wiped out,and Logan is finally aging ,and not healing as fast as he used to.He's caring for Proffesor X who is suffering from dementia, along with the mutant tracker Caliban.
Amutant much like Wolverine named Laura, walks into their lives who's being tracked by Donald Pierce
and the Reavers and the fun begins.

Logan is ultra violent and laced with salty dialogue, but it also has heart and extremely strong performances.
Jackman does a lot of acting with his eyes in this one,and it's an incredible performance.
I will definitely miss seeing him in this role he was born to play.
Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier / Professor X is as grand as ever never missing a beat as he and Jackman play well together.
Dafne Keen as Laura / X-23 is the young acting find of 2017 so far, very natural as the feral character she portrays, but also adding nice touches of innocense
Director James Mangold has put together a rousing story of a world weary hero that is very strong and riveting

It's only flawas are a couple of predictable turns.A character is introduced who personifies what i have come to detest about Sci Fi and Comic Book based T.V shows as of late.Fortunately the character is used sparingly
Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce fortunately balances this aforementioned character out

Logan is Terminator 2,Firestarter,with a little bit of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome coupled with an X-Men story and it's one of the best movies based on a comic book character, that i have ever watched

Scale of 1-10 a 9

You missed the entire point of this movie. It wasn't about the powers. It was about the emotional state of the characters.

It's NOT a comic book movie. And if you watch the trailers, it never advertised itself to be.

Future X-MEN Movies Will Move On From Professor X/Magneto Dynamic; SUPERNOVA Title Details

The producers of the X-Men franchise have shed some light on what's next for the franchise while also revealing whether or not the next instalment will hold that Supernova subtitle...
Phoenix.png

The relationship between Professor X and Magneto has pretty much been the focal point of six X-Menmovies now and with so much time spent on that in the prequels, it's fair to say the franchise needs to move on. Thankfully, that looks set to the case as the focus is shifted to the likes of Cyclops and Jean Grey following their introduction in X-Men: Apocalypse last year.

"We cannot, once again, explore the Erik/Charles dynamic," X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner told Vanity Fair in a recent interview, adding that the shift is "both liberating and makes me nervous." It definitely sounds like big changes are coming then, and while she was quick to point out that while the duo will always be "essential" to this world, "there are other stories to tell."

As of right now, it's thought that Simon Kinberg will be taking the helm of X-Men: Supernova, but in a separate interview with Slash Film, he explained that's not a name which is set in stone.

"One of the things we do when we make these X-Men movies, to be totally candid, is — any of these movies, it’s on ‘Star Wars,’ too — is you come up with fake names to throw people off the scent and when you’re out making the movie, the signs that show you where the locations are say ‘Nova,’ or whatever the fake title is, and people figure it out, and I don’t even know why we do it anymore."

It may be a fake title, but Kinberg went on to indicate that the movie will indeed adapt The Dark Phoenix Saga, something which hopefully means the X-Men will finally head into outer space for a full on cosmic adventure. Time will tell but expect more details on the movie to be revealed soon.

Oh to end your days as an Uber driver in a shitty Mexican town.

Exactly
He's driving a limo
All the shit they did to save the world
And in the end they live in Mexico in a dump.
No money
No thank you
No lifetime pass for saving us.
No. Just a limo driver saving money to live on the ocean away from people.
And he's living with that while taking care of the only father he's ever known whom he was not that close to but now they're all they got.
Peep when Charles was dying he made sure to tell him it wasn't him who did that.

And then all is lost he's buried him by the water and the car won't start and this is his life. I got a daughter no dad no hope and I'm dying
I couldn't save him and I can't save her
He literally just laid down in the street like fuck it!!

But it WAS A COMIC BOOK MOVIE. It used way too many plot devices.. A super power booster serum....Generic robot villains....And they even had X Men comics in the film which dropped it a point for me.

The sad thing is. The X Men franchise has been so bad that I don't even care about these versions of Wolverine and Professor X. They can try to make it gritty and realistic as they want but the script has to be good. This wasn't Batman V Superman bad but it's what everyone is talking it up to be. Deadpool overall is a much better movie.

And how fucking bad is the X Men's luck?

One future the Sentinels kill them all only to have them all dead in this movie too

This is an elseworlds movie

This is what I'm talking about. This is a thought provoking emotional look at these lives. Irony. Nuance. Bitter and sweet. Being betrayed by the body that had made you invincible for years. By the end of the movie, I was as emotionally drained as Logan.

He earned that rest.

All those kids will cosign her as well. Everybody in that forest knows logan saved them and they'll never forget it.
So she'll be around until 2200's
Just a great emotional movie

Ok fam. I liked Deadpool. I really didn't give a fuck about anyone in that movie. Just watched it for laughs. Deadpool doesn't have half the character development of Logan. Half the irony. You don't think. You don't feel. You just watch and laugh.

The scene where Xavier uses his powers to corral the horses, you see him for a second remember the man he used to be. At one time, this would have been inconsequential for him. You see him happy to be useful again. Seeing him declare this had been the best night he had spent in years but also he remembered what he had done. Bittersweet. His goodbye to Logan. There ain't shit that nuanced or ironic or emotionally taxing in Deadpool. Not a single thing.

Now, you claim to like the Avengers and Captain America movies. Those things are nothing but a string a cliches and plot devices strung together. Hold them to the same standard you're holding Logan.

Right but they KNOW that they are comic movies and don't take themselves too seriously and even when they do get serious you feel for them. I was salty thinking they killed Fury in the Winter Soldier.

Hugh Jackman and Patrick Steward are top notch actors so I knew the performances were gonna be good. But again I'll say it takes place in a universe where the movies overall are just bad. Jackman was a good wolverine in a shitty x men universe

If they were even half way decent at establishing these characters from the very beginning this movie would have really hit home.

But really it just provides Deadpool with more troll material.

Saw it today ...enjoyed the commentary on being who you are until the end.

Laura was savage, Logan's face when she threw the decapitated head towards the agents was great.

Magneto (Malcolm X) was right you can't integrate with a society that hates you. You eithe destroy them or they destroy you. Xavier (MLK) never understood war... he was looking for acceptance

Self preservation is a motherfukka! Xavier damn near killed an entire casino ...awesome.

I never fully understood why Logan's powers faded?

His healing power was fading because the admantium skeleton is poisonous and as he ages he isnt able to heal as well anymore from the toxin and it is killing him.

How did the roots of a tree get to be harder than Adamantium?

Went straight through his gut. No ribs there to block it just a spine. With all the other injuries he had, shot and stabbed multiple times, coughing up blood, bleeding out and the Adamantium actually poisoning him to death. He was done.

If they wanted to get tricky they would have him be dead for a few months and then regenerate himself but that would fuck up the ending to this flick. He was literally killed by his own demon. The animal within that they couldn't control. The evil that he's been running from his whole life.

Prejudice, senseless murder, the slavery allegory, immigration politics, big bad government tropes, white men with guns and badges, running from death.

Shit is real with this film and a bit deeper than some folks are seeing.

Saw this yesterday, shit was nice. The only thing that I had a small gripe about. Was the stunt double for the kid. I understand the kid cant do all the stunts. But you can clearly see it was a grown ass person doing the stunts. Especially in the begining of the movie. And the young logan shit was wack. Other than that the movie was great.

I would have fixed the movie like this:

*Don't make Logan weak and sickly. Go back to the Old man Logan story where he's older but "reluctant" to use his abilities because of the past vs. him naturally being that way due to Admantium poisoning (will hit on this later and why)

*Make the Reavers have a reason to hate him: Originally the Reavers were soldiers who one way or another ran across Wolverine at different points and lost limbs or were maimed due to that encounter. So their hate for him had meaning and weight vs. guys who were simply "enhanced". Makes more sense that the enhancement came from a need for revenge.

*At the end of the story have the children get to Eden - THEN - Wolverine die. Older mutants honoring him as he dies as the Legend and Hero he always was. Them not getting to Eden never answers the question was this place Real or Not?

*The BIG BAD sucked ass. Get rid of the "clone of Wolverine" as his nemesis. Instead? Omega Red. Re-write that character as the X-24 and his powers (Like the comic book, weakens Wolverine and poisons him. Every battle brings Wolverine closer to death).
Wait

Didn't u call me a clown cause I said omega red better be in this movie

U laughed it out and said

"Why would omega red Be in the old man Logan story?"

Man them fat bitches getting to yo head bro god dre

Fam - that was the whole point to Wolverine. He was a failed version of Captain America - especially in this Fox movie universe.

The irony of all the films and his enemies having a direct connection to his past and the government trying to control mutants and make them weapons and him being Weapon X. Add in Deadpool and what was done to him. X - 23 was another failed version of a Wolverine that was a female clone. X - 24 was the success. It showed that after 40 years, they finally got it right.
