True. I'm not over analyzing the story cuz it's apparent where this is leading BUT their clearly over extending themselves. And now they have pushed Blackest Night back a Month to do a month of One Shots based around classic villains that have been revived. As you said...."GREED"

Of all the Comics tied into the Blackest Night only Rebels fits it seems, Since Green Lantern is on the cosmic scale. BUT I think DC editorial royally screwed up johns tight storytelling.
 
yeah the rebels was better than i thought
probably coulda had that story line goin from the beginnin and just merge the supes and batman story lines with the main one

Zell why keep reading if you hate it so much? I don't watch/read or partake in things that annoy me? It's like a car crash, you can't stop looking?:confused::confused::confused:

I don't go out of my way to read it but like I said before my entire family is into comics. We are divided by Marvel and DC camps.

I just came back from 1 home from Thanksgiving and the Marvel Family was ripping into DC family (and vice versa due to the recent Punisher issue *shakes his head*). So even I don't want to read it I will hear about it.

My uncle owns a comic shop. My cousin own a bookstore/comic store. I co-own a digital one. It's in my blood (part of my business also) to read books even the bad ones.

Now I am resting my heels and heading back out to the Fortress of Solitude (I mean seriously my cousin has everything ever made about Superman...His wife is another Superman lover). So I will be in full geek mode arguing and playing some games with that part of the family. :)

Then theres my default reason for a lot of other things

"Fuck it. That's why!" LOL
 
Thanks Mighty Exodus and all posters. You have to admit, they arent pulling many punches with the last few issues! I foresee a reset too, how in the hell can Kal die?:hmm: Don't think its going to stick with a lot of the other characters and why use Bruce? Plot thickens:eek:

I gotta tell you everyone in the DC camp both family, friends and the people I see on Wednesday pick up are extremely disappointed in Blackest Night.

Even those that said "Stay in the Mini-series only" are just downright leaving the books alone.

One of my cousins is donating over 4000 comics to the troops. Part of it because he wants to but for the most part DC just dropped the ball too many times for him.

SUPERPOWERS, Buffy: TVS, TWD and Invincible were the only books that everyone came to an agreement are solid reads.

I know your the top comic analysis guy here.And you've been waving this "reset button" flag since before BL started. Am not a DC guy and this is the most I've followed a comic series since I was 12.

If I missed something, which is possible/likely since many of these characters are new to me.Why not explain it out so I can see it. What's the point of hanging around to consistently complain? And if so keep ya opinions to the story and let people like what they like or at least let the damn story finish.You're clearly following the story like the rest of us so is it just to say "I told you so" at the end?

You can see from my previous post I was in the "why you hanging around to complain" boat as well, but with the comic background you have that explained it. I can see where you're coming from. I completely understand the passion you bring to this.

Here's a question.

Could BL have been pulled off without a "reset" of some kind?
 
I'm loving Blackest night. I been reading GL since Johns wrote rebirth and it's great to see his plans executed.

Only thing I'm noticing with KR dead, Guy turning red and who knows what the hell John is at.

WIll Hal end up being the only GL from earth?
 
I like the "Purity" of readign just the main BL books, since they retain the full flavor of Johns writing.
It's nto the dilluted shit DC is tryign to tie into it.

BUT Marvel Realm of Kings and their cosmic books flat out rock right now. I'm hoping DC gives johns complete control over the Legion of Super Heroes, He does a fantastic job of bringing back the essence of what makes characters great.

I think so. To be honest they should have taken a different turn when they were @ the drawing board and listing the ones they were going to bring back.

They should have taken a page out of the Marvel Cosmic game and used b-heroes that are gone or not as popular.

Also they could have used the victims the heroes have failed to save or what not...a good example would have been the little girl that Batman failed to save in "Venom" series...Some thing like that...

The minute they brought the zombies out and gave them the ability to speak...it was down hill.

Now Johns writing is great but the problem that people forget when dealing with Marvel and DC is that his writing is edited and changed by the powers that be...I would love to his first draft of BL because I bet you there was gold...DC like Marvel muddy it up when they pick quick profit over longevity of the story.

Complaint? No complaint...Just observation of the story being unfolded.

BTW I did call the reset. DC WROTE about it in PREVIEWS. That's when I was automatically done with BL.

Also, I did explain it. If you are reading BL you would know that they made the "SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE" a black lantern.

SPECTRE is the right hand of the creator. He is a cosmic level character. In past issues of Legion and in a few crossovers he is that dude that not even Darkseid would fuck with. Yet the lanterns had enough power to turn him over...yet they could not turn over Superman and the rest of them like they did in the final issue? That is a plot hole. For that why not bring back the dead GODS as BL...the emotion they would have brought out alone in destruction would have had those batteries full in 2 panels. I'm pretty sure John protested that shit but he has a job to do and money to make and will not be saying anything about it until his term/contract is over.

The writing on this book is all over the place. It's a shame too because had they done this right this would have been another "Kingdom Come."

Why would you only want one way discourse on a subject anyway? If you don't like what I write why don't you ignore it?

Yeah I feel that.I sometimes wonder just what great stories the public gets robbed from reading due to "edits" from the bosses.
