**Official Football (Soccer) Thread"

I was thinking about that, but it seems like too convenient an excuse to fall back on. They've been leaking goals the entire year, it's not until recently that it's really biting them in the ass.

Even the game against Real Sociedad they were winning 2-nothing and ending up losing 3-2.

Also, as much as I love their philosophy they have to come with other ideas when coming up against walls of defense. They couldn't do it against Celtic, Milan and now Madrid. Even their league win against Sevilla was unconvincing.

Puyol and Pique were horrible. I don't know why Song, and Mascherano didn't get that nod.

I'm sure Di Maria and CR7 would've been neutralized by the pace of at least Song, maybe Mascherano, but the old man, and new father looked horrible tonight.

I've stuck by this statement in that Madrid are deadlier WITHOUT the ball for longer lapses of play. That counter is simply too fast to handle. :smh:

There's no doubt that Madrid is the best counter-attacking team in the world. But fuck Madrid and their shitty fans.:D

Racist chants in the first leg, then they throw a flare into the Barca fans(if my eyes don't deceive me).

I doubt they're going to be on the counter against United though. I'm also fairly certain United won't make defensive mistakes like Barca. I think Ferguson was at this game by the way.

Those Madrid fans can be annoying as hell sometimes. :smh::smh:

Manchester United reward veteran Ryan Giggs with new one-year deal

Ryan1024_2908117.jpg

Ryan Giggs has signed a new one-year deal at Manchester United on the eve of his 1,000th senior game.

The midfielder has ended speculation that he would retire at the end of the season by agreeing to stay at Old Trafford until June 2014 - an extension that will take him beyond his 40th birthday.

Giggs is already the most decorated player in British football history and is on course to add a 13th league championship medal to his collection with United 12 points clear of closest rivals Manchester City.

The former Wales international is set to celebrate his milestone in front of a home crowd against Norwich and boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the evergreen winger will remain at United in a coaching capacity once he does decide to end his playing days.

"He'll be involved (against Norwich) and he'll be involved on Tuesday (against Real Madrid) so somewhere along the line he's going to play his 1,000th game this week, which is phenomenal," Ferguson told United's official website.

"What can I say about Ryan that hasn't already been said? He is a marvellous player and an exceptional human being.

"He has fantastic energy for the game and it is wonderful to see. To think that he now has 23 unbroken years of league goals behind him is truly amazing in the modern-day game.

"His form this year shows his ability and his enjoyment of the game are as strong as ever and I am absolutely delighted that he has signed a new contract.

"(A coaching role) will happen, that's the plan. We've done the same with Nicky Butt with the reserves and when Paul Scholes finishes it will be exactly the same with him. I think it's important we have people here who have the experience of being a player here."

Giggs revealed his delight, saying: "I am feeling good, enjoying my football more than ever and, most importantly, I feel I am making a contribution to the team.

"This is an exciting team to be part of, with great team spirit, and we are again pushing for trophies as we head towards the business end of the season.

New contract for Giggs on eve of 1000th game
"I am delighted to have signed a new contract. I would like to thank Sir Alex and the coaching staff and I would also like to thank (outgoing chief executive) David Gill who has been a tremendous support over my many years here."

Just lol at the ref. Ain't even mad. I hope United crush Madrid.

This is also feels like the waning days of the Rijkaard era. Which is odd to say, considering they have double digit leads over Atletico and Madrid. This is the first time Mourinho has won a clasico at the Bernabeu in the league.

To say Barca is in poor form is an understatement.

Midfield is poor, defense is a joke.....seeing them lose the league and to Milan wouldn't surprise me at all at this point

The league would be a surprise to me, Milan not at all.

Atletico can cut their lead to 9, but they play Malaga tomorrow who are no pushovers.

Vamos United! I hope they whoop that ass, because apparently Barca can't do it.

We got this.

Seems like Barca need a reset. I didn't watch the match, but it was on, and everytime I looked up, Iniesta was in the holding role where Busquets is/was??

Madrid's first goal though... wow. Mascherano and Pique looked lost. :smh: Defending width seems to be an issue cause those dudes were holding hands at that point. Valdes had every right to get into them.

First goal was lackadaisical defending(like the entire year), and the second goal seems to be a trending problem with Barca. I expect the worse every time the opposing team has a free-kick or corner.

And to blame the loss on not getting a penalty at the death(which it was), is just an excuse to mask the rest of their problems.

Oh it was a penalty but for them to say they deserve a point because it after how the other 89+ minutes went.....:smh:

That Messi goes was the one "Barca" thing they did all match.

Don't know if it's leadership they need and the fact that Vilanova is not there is what is causing the poor performances.

A sentiment shared for sure. :smh: We have the same problems, but I digress.

I know the coaching ranks at the Camp Nou right now are being tested. I don't know much about the current interim manager at post, but I wonder if Rosell promotes someone new for the run in.

Even their last two wins against Granada and Sevilla have been poor performances.

Most Gunners fans are as delusional as their manager.

All day today it was, "watch, we can overturn the Bayern tie."

Are you serious?? Most people in the UK already know that tie is as good as dead for Arsenal.

Workplace was like a morgue. The Arsenal fans were quiet as what........

At least cats are somewhat sensible over there. Cats here as delusional as can be.

I asked one co-worker, "how can you not see what's happening with your club?!? You really think they're gonna be competing at a high level playing like this??"

He replied, "I have full faith in my club. When I support, it's 100%."

My other co-worker said, "there's always possibilities in the game, so who knows!?!?"

Aside from :smh::smh: vigorously, not much else can be said.

I second your feelings on this one. Was the worst call of all time.

I don't think we were playing for a draw per say but Fergie had the tactics right. Shit just got out of hand when they got an extra man.

That nigga wenger deserves a beatdown. U leave players like mvilla, capoue, belhanda and sissoko(new castle) all at their club while his ass could have bought them for cheap. I bet you ars would have been champ this season.

What game we're you watching?

The same tactics deployed in Madrid, proved sufficient enough to beat this same Madrid side 11v11.

WITHOUT the ball, we were in control of this match, garnering the better of chances throughout the match. De Gea only had to deal with the peashooters of that midfield, and that's being generous up until that red card.

Before the red:

Ronaldo, Ozil, DiMaria, Khedira, Alonso, Higuain - Non-existent.

After the red: History was written.

Rooney struggled defensively in Madrid the first go round, so it made sense he was left out of this one. The inclusion of Welbeck and Nani were yes, a surprise, but made perfect sense as Welbeck hunted down Alonso and rendered he and Khedira useless.

Look, I don't mind getting whopped on by a team that deserved to win the match. Barcelona have my respect for the football they play, and kudos to them on dumping us out of two finals. I have no gripes losing to superior talent. But there's no way anyone on earth is going to convince me that 11v11, at that point in the match, Madrid we're the better side because they weren't.

My biggest issue is that we were robbed at the chance to be the better side over two legs.

you are right about rooney and welbeck and thats the only reason why welback played cause he also defend.

but as for the rest you wrong, well let me say its your opinion. cause like i keep saying the best defense in this sport is offense. a team like real is always going to score a goal so playing like that yeah it will work for a while but it wont work for 90min. man u should have go for the win or at least score a goal before the started playing like that.

you could see when rooney enter the game the game suddenly changed. (there is a difference in playing home or away)they were more dangerous. playing like that is a no-no ask barca what happened last year against chelsea. although barca was dominating the game they couldnt score and a team like chelsea always scores one goal. and that fucked barca up at the end.

thats football tho the better team dont always win.
