@@@Official Cavs thread 2014-2015@@@

Cavs best rebounder isn't playing and Moz is in foul trouble and folks wonder why the Cavs lost. Even if Love is off, you still are covering him because there is a chance he hits. And when he isn't hitting, he still is getting around 12 boards against the Bulls. Moz being in foul trouble just compounded the issues.

This was also a back-to-back game for the Cavs. Lebron looked out of it. Not Kyrie's best night. Just a perfect shitstorm.

Cavs still up 2-1.

That said, Bulls are a problem in the playoffs. I don't see anyone in the East beating them but the Cavs. Their style of basketball is perfect for the post-season.

If they stay healthy... A loss of Rose, Noah or Butler, and they are finished...

They are not finished with the loss of Rose or Butler, now the injury to Noah would be devastating, because then most teams could play them like a normal team.. Snell does many of the same things Butler does and with Rose out, they are actually free to play more physical and dirty..

As teams around the league frantically completed deals before the trade deadline, the Cleveland Cavaliers stood pat with a roster they began reshaping last month.

Still, LeBron James knows the Cavs are far from a finished product.

Cleveland seeks a 15th victory in 17 tries Friday night as it visits the Washington Wizards, who are still without guard Bradley Beal.

Thursday was a quiet day for the Cavaliers (33-22), who feel they've made enough moves to build a winner. They traded Dion Waiters to Oklahoma City in a three-team deal that landed J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert from New York on Jan. 5.

Two days later, they acquired big man Timofey Mozgov from Denver for two first-round picks. James returned Jan. 13 after missing eight games with multiple injuries to give Cleveland a unit it feels comfortable with moving forward.

"We made our acquisitions a month or so ago," James said. "We can win a championship with this roster. A team that is healthy at the right time and clicking at the right time can make a huge push. Does it guarantee you that? Of course not, but we have the roster that can challenge any team out there."

The Cavs sit one-half game behind Washington (33-21) for fourth in the Eastern Conference, but James isn't concerned about playoff position. He realizes each team ahead of Cleveland in the conference standings is in a different situation.

The Cavaliers fell 113-98 at Chicago on Feb. 12 before the All-Star break.

"In order for us to get to where we want to be, we have to challenge ourselves," James said. "We can't catch Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Atlanta as far as the playoff experience and chemistry. It's how we can maximize our potential instead of worrying about everybody else."

Coach David Blatt echoed James.

"We're getting towards crunch time," Blatt said. "It's not easy, but guys have to play through (minor injuries) as long as it's not of a debilitating nature. We have to really compete and we've got to win games."

Washington won the first meeting 91-78 behind 28 points from John Wall on Nov. 21 before James finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in a 113-87 home win Nov. 26.

The Wizards come out of the break having dropped six of eight, including a 95-93 defeat Feb. 11 at Toronto. Beal has missed the last three with a mild stress reaction in his lower right leg that initially was thought to be a toe injury.

He's been ruled out for this contest, and no timetable has been set for his return. Otto Porter Jr. has totaled 18 points in the two games he's started for Beal, while Garrett Temple had seven in his first start in that stretch.

Looking to provide an offensive boost to its second unit, Washington traded reserve guard Andre Miller to Sacramento for Ramon Sessions on Thursday in its lone deadline move.

It's unclear if Sessions will be available Friday against one of his former teams, but coach Randy Wittman knows his squad will have a tough task overcoming Beal's loss against the Cavs even though the Wizards are 9-3 without him.

"They're playing at a high level now. They're healthy," Wittman said. "They're about where everyone thought they'd be heading into this year. It's a team that's playing on all cylinders.

"We just have to keep plugging forward. We know what we have to do to be successful."

Kyrie Irving scored 18 points while holding Wall to a season-low six in the last matchup between the All-Star point guards. Irving had 22 in the first meeting.

Wow listening to these comments you'd swear the Cavs were the ones who lost by almost 40..

What comments? Who were the prime contributors for the cavs? Yeah they won but in true fashion love likes being the focal point of the offense

In this system he is not, against top PFs he does nothing... He's def bouncing to LA in the off season it's obvious he needs to be the focal point of the offense

The Cavs take what the defense gives them, pack the paint and they kill you with JR, Shumpert and Irving from the three, try to take away the outside they lob and drive on you all day.. Love job is to keep his man honest and open up those driving lanes as well as grabbing those tough defenses..
Love, T-Mo and Thompson have specific roles that are not determined by individual stats, but once they do their jobs it opens it up for the rest of the team..

The Cleveland Cavaliers have emerged as the strong frontrunners to sign center Kendrick Perkins, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Perkins and the Utah Jazz are proceeding on a contract buyout that could be completed as soon as Saturday, sources said. Yahoo! Sports

Perk and Bron are close both came straight outta HS in 04. Perk helps Cavs matchup with Bulls

The one weakness the Cavs have is the lack of depth in their front court, if one of their bigs gets injured or gets into foul problems the dynamics of their team changes dramatically.. Perkins is not a savior, but he can play tough ball, and against some of the taller lanky players on the Bulls, you need someone with size and toughness.. Also Perkins can play the role of an enforcer, where he can protect both LeBron and Irving from over aggressive defenders.
That said I would not discount the Clippers and their need for Perkins, because with out Blake and his relationship with Doc I think they may emerge as the front runners.

I would stay the hell away from Perkins..
At this point Perkins brings nothing to the table!, Perkins of the Celtic days is WAYYY gone..

when mosglov gets into foul trouble their defense suffers

with perk coming off the bench it remains effective

these fags are really trying to make their title run this year

Yea I thought they would wait until next year but that shit went out the window quickly.

Add Perkins would help... I'm curious if this affects bringing Ray Allen in...unless they release Joe Harris to clear that spot.

Perkins on the floor it will be a 4 on 5 lmaoooo

Perkins on the floor it will be a 4 on 5 lmaoooo

His job is to box out, rebound, play defense, and enforce vs teams that play rough...
If it were really 4 on 5 then his man would be able to peel off of him and double up the ball handler, do that with Kyrie and James, and they will give Perkins a easy lob for a quick slam..
He's a role player on a team that needs him to stay in his role, they have enough scores and players to do that other stuff..
Perkins = someone perfect vs Hilbert, Jefferson and the Bulls..

Nah we can get someone better than Perkins for less money

Not now after the trade deadline.. These days big men are slim picking... Whats really fucked up is perhaps they would have tried to keep Hamilton, if they knew what was going to happen to Bosh..

Getting back to the Cavs, I see one weakness or area of concern, this team has... After watching the Pacers game, yeah I know they was tired and should have won, but like I said before, its not always about winning and losing its about strengths/weaknesses and match ups..
One thing I noticed is that the Cavs need to get both mentally and physically tougher because after LeBron was thrown to the grown they seem to have gotten softer..
Now I know this was the 2nd game in a back to back and it was regular season, so for now I would give it a pass, but its something to keep an eye open on..
Good thing that the team ahead of them the Raptors, Wiz and Hawks are all soft and do not have the type of squad to challenge the Cavs potential weakness. Even the Bulls, with Rose cannot play as rough and tough as they did in the past (I always said they play better with out Rose, because they were able to play dirty, but with Rose in the lineup, all teams have to do is threaten to retaliate back on their star player (Rose) and we all know he is not built for that drama..
Also they are lucky Indiana is not in it due to their injury to George, but then again this may also be the reason why soft ass teams like the Hawks, Raptors and Wiz are in the spot where they are, right now.
But this Cavs team has to learn and understand how they must protect its stars even if it means throwing down, the Heat had Haslem as their enforcer right now I don't see anyone on this current roster who can play that roll.
I said this a few weeks ago and its like the Cavs read my memo... Funny how LeBron immediately tweeted referring to Perkins as his muscle... Perkins is a bigger stronger version of the Heat's Haslem.. Its seem like playing with the Heat has taught LeBron about all the components it takes to win in the tough playoffs..

So if he tweeted that mean its a don't deal?

I don't see how these kats don't see that..like kats killed Perkins in Okc but make it sound like he's gonna be any different in Cleveland..fam Perkins had his day back with the celtics, dude is a mismatch in defense and offense

Kendrick Perkins to join Cavs

nba_u_kend32_cr_300x300.jpg

Mark D. Smith/USA TODAY SportsKendrick Perkins is set to join the Cavaliers without ever suiting up for the Jazz, who acquired him via trade with the Thunder.

Center Kendrick Perkins has committed to signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers after he finalized a buyout with the Utah Jazz on Saturday, a source told ESPN.com.

Perkins was traded to the Jazz on Thursday in a three-team deal that sent guard Reggie Jackson to the Detroit Pistons and Enes Kanter, Steve Novak, Kyle Singler and D.J. Augustin to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He did not appear in a game for Utah.

Perkins was recruited directly by LeBron James to pick the Cavs, according to a source. He also drew heavy interest from the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs. The combination of a chance to win a championship along with an opportunity for playing time pushed Perkins to choose Cleveland.

James welcomed Perkins to Cleveland via Twitter on Saturday, which Perkins graciously accepted.

After making up his mind, Perkins called Clippers coach Doc Rivers, whom Perkins played for in Boston, to inform his old coach of the decision.

Known for his interior defense and physical presence, Perkins will help solidify the Cavs frontline, providing depth behind Timofey Mozgov.

The 30-year-old center started 225 games (273 total appearances) for the Thunder after joining the team in 2011 in a traded with the Boston Celtics. A 12-year veteran, Perkins spent his first seven seasons with the Celtics, winning a championship in 2008.

Perkins will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

In 51 games (three starts), with the Thunder this season, Perkins averaged 4.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game.
