{~}Official 2022-2023 NBA Thread - it’s that time again, this thread coming to a end

Wall looked good, but we all know he is still immature. I still would like to get Drummond.

Jeannie :smh:

Pau didn't even deserve his jersey retired.

The Lakers need to do like UNC, honored jerseys versus retired numbers
???

Without pau

Your rings would only be 2(‘98) 3(‘98) and 4(‘98) years older than the bulls

Pau came and lakers went to three straight finals

I wonder how many teams would have no jerseys retired or just one by that standard.

As of 2023, only two teams in the NBA do not have any retired numbers: the Los Angeles Clippers and the Toronto Raptors. Three players have had their numbers retired by teams they did not play for, and only one player (Bill Russell) had his number retired league-wide.

The Raptors are a young franchise and I'm sure they'll retire Derozan and Lowery's numbers-- They should.

My impulse was to say Vince Carter should have his retired but looking at the numbers, Bosh would be next in line and I'm not sure retiring all 4 makes sense.

:smh: @ the Clippers.

This is hating

How much has he scored the past three years in the playoffs?

If Boston doesn't want to pay him, someone else will...

I mean Jaylen got clowned BEFORE he signed about not being able to go to his left while being a professional ball player. He’s nowhere near the top in the league but he’s the richest. I don’t think it’s hate, it’s literally just stating what most people are thinking. The average spectator will always believe players should get paid off performance and not cuz the league and owners makes money. The owners get paid either way so it’s only fair that players get a good share but a lot of folks especially ex players don’t want to see a player that’s not in the top 75 get the richest contract but it’s the way the league is set up.

I don’t think people would trip if Steph signed this contract or Lebron etc. but judging from purely on court production, I understand why Jaylen will receive hate.

Dude needs to understand that it’s the rising salary cap and tv deals coming into play. Role players are gonna get paid what the Superstars got paid 5-10 years ago so the superstars are gonna of course get crazy money. Stupid paid.

There are six words that shut this whole conversation down:

How much are the owners making?

I think the money should be spread more evenly among the players-- I'd rather see the minimum salary going up to 5 million in the next few years than stars making $70 million. But the players should be making a higher percentage of basketball-related revenue.

It’s 51% to 49%

And remember teams pay a crazy luxury tax

I agree that the players should be paid entirely more.

Yeah-- It used to be 57%.

I believe the tradeoff is that the definition of basketball-related revenue was expanded but I thought increasing that percentage should have been the union's focus in the last CBA negotiations.

For 20 years, I shaken my head everytime I see someone wearing #3 in the few Knicks games I've watched.

No it doesn’t. It just adds to my post made right after this one. And no I personally don’t think that players in the NBA should be paid more than they already are. Distribute the wealth better but that’s it. NBA already full of overpaid pampered mf’s as is and the solution isn’t to give them more money regardless of what the owners are making. We all know it’s better to own a team to play on one.

These dudes don’t want to or can’t play 82 games but want more money. FOH. Then they don’t give a damn about winning and playing hard in front of the fans that spend their hard earned middle class money to see them play.

Wow. How many games did Donald Sterling play? How hard do the owners work compared to the players? It's surprising to me that you see:

1) white billionaires who sit on their asses and collect until they die and pass the team to their kids to continue making money
vs
2) black athletes who do all the work and have a 5-10 year window to make money on average

and you think it's the first group who deserves most of the money. I just don't understand that.

These leagues/teams have brain washed the masses to carry their load due to rings….
