{~}Official 2022-2023 NBA Thread - it’s that time again, this thread coming to a end

Smh.

I mean they had to resign him but got damn this dude is soooo average.
I’ll agree he’s not worth that money but he’s essential to that offense. Fox is a dog but Sabonis allows him to be a great clutch player because all those DHO’s through the first 3 quarters it’s letting him reserve his energy for the 4th. Screen assists are an important part of a lot offenses in the league.

The ONLY way this makes sense is if this somehow gets to the point of having playoff implications. Other than that, it’s just something to break up the monotony of the regular season. Sorry Adam but your league is just full of overpaid dudes that are ok with showing up, losing and going home to their big ass house. I got an idea that’ll spice the league up,

Every loss is a $10,000 deduction from each player’s paycheck. Watch them dudes try and kill each other on the court

In all seriousness, this is dumb

Damn, Poole is sounding like a DC politician the way he is responding to these questions without answering!

I joked about him landing in DC and suddenly transforming but I don’t immediately recall another player non-answering questions in this style!

He did a great job. These reporters are trying to drag him in some bs that's over now. He's job is to not play into it and give them nothing.

Why are they announcing teams in the tournament?
I'm so confused

I was instantly confused as soon as I saw ESPN employee Richard Jefferson announcing it in this way, not breaking the news like Woj or a studio reporter but selling it like an NBA hype man. I know ESPN and the NBA are partners but that seems to blur lines.

"A random draw based on last year's regular season records"-- Very unclear to me what this means and how they did it.

Also wondering about tie-breakers-- couldn't the whole league theoretically be 2-2 after four games?

I don't think it is dumb. I agree "it’s just something to break up the monotony of the regular season" except I would challenge your use of the word "just" because I think something to break up the monotony of the regular season is sorely needed.

"The NBA Cup" is probably never going to be viewed as a legitimate accomplishment but I think there will be a higher level of competition than we'd see otherwise.

The knockout rounds strike me as a significant upgrade in terms of excitement generated by the NBA in November. It will get more people talking about the NBA earlier and it will produce legitimately entertaining moments that we as fans will enjoy. It's very smart from a marketing perspective IMO.

Honestly that’s just my negative thinking taking over. I watched the video first and I was genuinely hype but then I started thinking about how it might not work just because some of these dudes are not competitive. Some don’t care if they win/lose. If there’s legit, “I want to win” vibes going on in this tournament I’d love to tune in. We shall see

DC got better bitches than the Bay Poole.

Enjoy your time in the city and just know you could be the man on this team.

Good for him

I thought how the media was killing that guy for BEING slapped and then trying to defend every one else was sucker ish.

Now his actual play is a different story

But we also know that the altercation had a direct effect on him on and off the court.

Nah. NFL contracts are just stupid and has nothing to do with caring about a championship. That’s why the NFL is better to watch. Y’all niggas celebrating this shit when their contract doesn’t pay you. Makes no sense.

Here’s a thought:

Winning gets you paid. Jeff Teague, Gary Harris ain’t never seen a real bag like a Steph or a Bron or even the ringless dudes like Desmond Bane etc.

But that’s why the NBA product is what it is. Keeping it real or not, it’s bullshit. That’s why I’ve become more of a casual sports watcher of the NBA cuz you can clearly see why they play the game.
The NFL players…..they destroy their bodies and essentially their brains. They do it without guaranteed contracts. IMO, it starts from pee wee football. I played basketball and football growing up and the two are just different. Growing up these coaches and shut brainwash you into putting your body on the line. It’s all about winning. Play hurt. All that other shit. Basketball is more independent based. You're only as strong as your strongest. In football you only as good as your weakest. Gary Harris will never be a max player he could have 10 rings lol.

The Sixers can match the contract since Paul Reed is a restricted free agent but Danny Ainge made the contract terms in a way to screw the Sixers over for matching it

Smart on Ainge’s part. It’s crazy though what Ainge want him for? He’s not starting over Kessler so you just want a backup big man? Wish Mavs would’ve put a bid in we out bad over here at center.

I hope they match it but I doubt it. We'll see. I hope i'm wrong tho.

Sixers should've focused on reed instead of getting these old ass free agents in montrez, pat beverly.

They signed Mo Bamba as well and reed is better than him!

Yeah a lot of people was wrong on Bamba. Its just some shit that don't show up on tape. On tape he looked the part but most do. He done turn into a journey overnight. Reed got more money then Harrell but I don't understand prioritizing Beverly and Harrell over him maybe there's something i'm missing there.
