***Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread***

this is the game sometimes the ref will tell sometimes they wont its not necessary. after the game when he gets interviewed then most of time they give the reason why.

something that crucial though? the biggest stage? you make that call?
basically pulling and holding and the goal doesnt matter or count. clearly they tackled the us players...fine let that go.
nobody was offsides he scored but blew the whistle, for what exactly?

yo eewwll like i said before they were all pulling and most of the time the defending team gets a free kick. like i said before if it was me i wouldnt blow the whistle and the goal be a goal. but this are the rules you watch football with that i mean european footbaal this happens all the time and its a discussion thats still going. if there is a corner offcours you are going to be touching and pulling each other you have no choice. so dont come with that bias shit

ok so who was the foul on? if its understood both sides touch and pull and hold...then who was it on?

there was no offsides so the only thing that couldve been called was a foul....who from the usa side after looking at the replays...who had any type of advantage by holding and pulling to make that call?

If anything it should have been a penalty to the U.S

Dog, these idiots here are letting their hatred for the USA blind the fact it was a bullshit call.

My father watched this game listening to French commentating, and even the french commentators, who have nothing to do with this match but broadcast it and commentate said the USA were robbed of a goal.

yo dj first of all i dont give a fuck if slovania or the us wins. but if i have to choose one of them it would be the us at least they have some blacks on the team. but this is not about hatred its about the fucktop rules sytem of the fifa

thats what i am trying to explain he blew the whistle for pulling. it happens in the champions league as well. i dont understand it either because football is a contact sport. but the new rules that are coming from the fifa i wouldnt be surpirse that in 5 years you wouldnt be even aloud to look at one another. the rules are bullshit they are turning this sport into a sissy game.

you know how many games they are fcking up here the refs. if they asked why did you made that decisions yeah its the rules of fifa.:smh:

Alright, now that level headedness has re-entered, we could've dominated this game but didn't.

To quote Ian McDermott, "Imagine if the USA didn't concede goals.."

This sums us up to perfection. We play like monsters for 45 mins, but it's a 90 min match. We know this better than anybody but it takes us time to get into a rhythm and this is our achilles heal.

We put ourselves in the hole today, and even though with all the fuckery of the ref, point blank, we should've smashed Slovenia if we didn't bury ourselves in.

Such is life though.

Onto the English.

pulling on the us? or pulling by both sides?

if its pulling on the us thats bullshit

if its both sides then shouldnt there be a re kick?

and the us will go to next round if they dont fuck up against algeria

both sides and thats discussion that is going on. who should get the free kick or penalty? but they shouldnt give a free kick cause the are both pulling so instead the should let the game continue in this case usa should have got the goal

but the fifa says the defending team should get a free kick which is bull

pulling on who.... they were tackling the U.S. players on THAT goal..:confused:
it will be on youtube soon i then i will explain it

dont get me wrong the us could have got a penalty. but i would let that goal be a goal

I am far from a US supporter, but it does seem that they got fucked over on this one. That said, the US shouldn't have been down 2 nil to Slovenia to begin with.

:lol::lol:
so both are pulling so game should continue since theres no advantage. so the goal shoulda been allowed

fifa says defending team gets rewarded for both teams pulling?

the more you explain the less it makes sense

oh well nothing to be done now, least everyone can agree it was bull and its not just us saying it

i mean whole game ALL important calls against the u.s. yellow cards that get ppl knocked out next match, no calls etc. that ref should just fucking dont even know, but whatever

it doesnt make sense thats the whole thing:smh: nobody understands the rule anymore. this is a good example

LOL:lol:

56 min: Moments after Cesar intercepts a potentially deadly Dempsey pass, Novakovic goes close the other end, but DeMerit gets back to make a last-ditch tackle. "The US is such an odd country to be in for the World Cup," blubs Joe Bentley. "Rob Schneider seems to be the minority. I'm in a NY office right now…no-one knows the score, and no one cares. Except for me, and I'm English. Very sad. Although, should the US ever get really into football, they'll no doubt get proper good at it and consistently beat us. Which would be even sadder."

yo limey whats the formation the uk are playing i hope they dont let lampard and gerard defend anymore

America were totally fucked over.

They were, but its not as if we were the only ones fucked today (Germany). The same shit happened last world cup when everyone was overly confident that the US would get a result against Ghana. I understand England, Germany, the Dutch et al. being confident before every world cup, but not the US. We have a hull reject leading our line and the "superstar" of the team plays for LA galaxy. We are a nation of 300 million plus and we are struggling with a nation of around 2 million? I wouldn't be so negative about the US but we have so many players that want to be superstars but don't do anything on the pitch when it matters at either the club or international level (Howard being a notable exception). If we are the footballing power that they we advertise ourselves to be, what are we doing down 2 goals to Slovenia? You cant take an entire half off at the world cup.

Nah im just sayin man, the entire planet just watched us get robbed. And that's fine, I can live with that.

But when cats try and rationalize what we just witnessed, that in itself borders bias, and subjective opinion.

No one can explain to me anywhere in that freekick why the goal wasn't given.

No one.

Torres aside from the free-kick did not play well after I lauded his technical skills.

Funny cause Alexi Lalas touched on a couple of days ago as to what the USA lineup needed to be going into this one. And his first reaction was, "... don't change anything. I know you wanna bring in a Torres to maybe stabilize our midfield a bit, but I wouldn't change a thing."

Turns out he was spot on. This was a game for Ricardo Clark. Maybe our attack would've still been sloppy in the first half, but maybe we don't concede the first goal.

To be fair to the youngster, he looked shook. I think the pressure got him, and he got away from himself.

He's still a great playmaker though, and a definite addition to our squad.

NO GOAL! Donovan curled a freekick from the right into the packed box. Edu met it on the volley and blasted in from close range! But the referee's whistle had already gone so it won't count. Quite why the referee's whistle had gone is not clear - there was no offside and the only fouls being perpetrated were by Slovenians holding on to assorted American jerseys. Mystifying decision.

Full-time: Another triumphant draw for the US. They were outclassed in the first half but, thanks to tactical changes and swashbuckling spirit, they stormed back for a deserved equaliser. Indeed, it looked to me like they should have won, since I saw nothing wrong with the goal that was ruled out. Anyway, they'll fancy their chances of reaching the next round now, with Algeria to come. Thanks for tuning in and contributing. Goodbye.

my point is he would stop it. ninjas is a living breathing wall.:hmm:

Too much velocity, too much power. No keeper is gonna stand in front of that.

Do that, and you risk major injury.

Sorry homey. He wouldn't. I've been a keeper all my life, and I can tell you right now, there isn't a goalkeeper on this planet that would've stopped that.

Not even the 6'5 Van Der Sar's and Cech's of the world. Even if you get a hand to that, you'll 1) break your wrist, or whatever you nick the ball with whether it be your finger or whatever, and 2) you'll be in the net with the ball.

Sorry.

"You're making the game too robotic..":smh: This is the inane backlash that's about to ensue.

USA-Slovenia Stolen Match Proves Why Soccer Needs Tech

500x_usa-slovenia-maurice-edu-goal.jpg

I'm Spanish. I've been watching soccer—football—all my life, and I always wondered why the hell don't they use technology to solve one of the biggest problems of this game: Referees making bad calls. Like in today's USA-Slovenia game.

The fact is that, no matter how many times I watch that Maurice Edu's goal, referee Koman Coulibaly's decision to cancel a perfectly legal goal seems inexplicable. Donovan curled the freekick perfectly, and Edu blasted it inside Slovenia's door with ease. That's what happened. There was no offside, and there were no fouls except the Slovenians trying to grab every single American player in the box. In other words, Coulibaly's call was completely wrong, and it took three points away from the USA team. That's very bad for the competition.

If this were American football a bad call could be easily solved by just replaying the last 10 seconds of play. It's pretty simple. And that's exactly what soccer needs: Technology. To start with, they need multiple cameras to record the game from every angle in real time, with a group of referees on the side correcting any major erroneous calls there may be. It doesn't have to be in every single play. Just major, game-changing instances would be enough.

[FLASH]http://www.youtube.com/v/G5rGDAZnvcI&hl=en_US&fs=1&[/FLASH]

But technology can help more and eliminate 90% of the most common problems in referee decisions: Off-sides. They only need to incorporate location microchips into players' boots and the ball. It doesn't have to be GPS. It could work with local location, with a computer triangulating the position of players and balls using receptors placed around the field. It's not science-fiction technology. It can be easily done and it's not expensive for a sport that generates more money than any other sport in the planet.

A technology like that, plus the multiple cameras, would eliminate most of the problems and randomness of soccer, while avoiding interrupting the game too much. So why they don't do it? Some say that, if you make it all too perfect, you take power away from the referees and the soccer federations. Others say that you will take la salsa off the sport.

It's all bollocks.

At the end of the day, this is what happens: Unfair games and pissed off fans. Nothing will happen to the damn Coulibaly except being excluded of the next World Cup (if that), but his mistake could mean that the USA doesn't make it to the next stage of the World Cup. That's bad not only for the USA. It's bad for the sport.

It's time for FIFA to use technology to the game's advantage. While I can appreciate the randomness of the game—like the awful Switzerland scoring by pure chance against a brilliant Spain—nobody can feel right about an unjust referee call that can destroy the hopes of a team and its followers.

Oh, and FIFA, while you are at it, please destroy all vuvuzelas in the field (so players can hear each other, and we can avoid going mad) and ask players if they like the new ball before starting the World Cup (they hate it). Thanks.

I agree that donovan's shot was pretty much unstoppable. Hes still a bitch though...

now WHERE was the call why was the call made and why doesnt the u.s. have 3 fucking points

fifa really needs to get it together. its different for world cup. if people made bad calls in the nba mlb of nfl if it effects the outcome and the team gets eliminated they can come back next year at least. if the u.s. get eliminated behind this bs, they have to wait 4 YEARS to attempt to do this shit again?

i'm convinced by the way the ref was calling this game the whole game he had to have had money on it or something. he tried to make up for it with 2 sympathy yellows but come on now, our guys yellow got him suspended for next match, the non calls on the fouls and the major one and him just looking indifferent like oh well :angry::angry::angry:

I think its the law of averages. The first 6 or 7 games were perfectly officiated so horrible calls were bound to start happening. Yes the US was fucked over but the real question is why is the US down to 2 goals to Slovenia to begin with? You would think that the US would have taken the team that eliminated Russia to qualify seriously. If the US dont make it out of the group, they can blame no one but themselves. :smh:
