Admittedly, I have only spent a few weeks in Rome, but when I was there I saw no real black middle class at all. It was all African immigrants selling bootleg purses et al. or a few black people who looked like they were tourist from other European countries. Anybody on here spent any significant time in Italy that can add some perspective?Stay posted..in the next few weeks Candle and I will post a "Post World Cup Soccer Fans Thread"
Current Man Utd players left in World Cup 0.
Ex Man U players left in World Cup 7: Forlan, Veron, Pique, Ronaldo, Kleberson, Heinze, Tevez.

It would have been wise of the two of you to invite the participation of people who grew up playing this sport. There are intricacies to this game that we may be aware of from living (not just playing) the sport, that anyway who had grown with the sport in this country will never know. This is not to patronise you, but I have lived in this country a very long time and I have seen enough to know that those who play the sport in this country, do not get as intimate with it, as we do. I played basketball in Africa (having failed to make the cut in football), but the knowledge I had of the game was nothing compared to what even the smallest 15 year old white boy has- as I found on the playgrounds.
The two of you are omitting a very important part to liking this game; you have failed or omitted to explain what exactly is going on the field. You assume that if people watch the EPL, they will automatically like football. I hate the EPL; I hate the lack of finesse in that league. I hate Spain, but I appreciate the artistry in La Liga even if there is entirely too much flopping in it, and too many Klansmen on and off its fields...
I live in the country where they play the highest levels of hockey and basketball- have been to a Pittburgh Pirates and a Dallas Stars game- and do not care about either sport.
I think you would have done well to invite Oogsta, Black Limey, Sampson, Chiyo, etc to be part of this thread because, honestly, they speak with knowledge and authority on the sport. Obviously, I would never expect you to invite me, since my abrasive style of writing, rubs people the wrong way...
Anyone who is a true believer in this sport would never cede the name football and entitle his thread "..Soccer..". The moment I see an article with an insistence on that appellation, I already know what I am dealing with. The sport is FOOTBALL, not futbol. We hate the name Soccer. Fuck that, we play exclusively with the feet, and a sport that is akin to rugby arrogantly attempts to arrogate the name football unto itself.. We do not concede that fight, never.
Just my two cents...

hotdamn the streets are empty i can go rob a bank nobody would see it

How can they not know that Arjen Robben, like Messi, is at his most dangerous when cutting across the face of the goal? Anyone knows that that his how he makes his living.

He's like a JR Messi. Very potent when he cuts in.
Nederland!!! Nederland!!! Nederland!!!
Ik zeg dat Oranje vandaag drie nul wint!

You are welcome to join the thread anytime you want. It's catered more to the newer, and more casual fan who's looking for an footballing outlet after the World Cup. For the first timers who want to continue to follow the game, and learn where players are from, where they play, etc.
But this by no means single the regulars out. In fact, I implore the regulars to come in and speak on the sport as well.
The more the merrier.![]()
