TO THE BBC PUNDITS

STOP TALKING ABOUT ROONEY

DEFOE WAS THE SAVIOUR TODAY!

8xrecz.jpg

Thats because these CAC think wayne rooney is the best out there. The whole team is supposed to rely on this scouse gremlin when In my opinion better players with better form than him. Englands whole premise is DEfoe is there to help Wayne rooney score:smh: DEfoe is hugely underrated I was shocked at the last world cup cup Sven chose Walcott over Defoe. Wayne rooner may be good at MU but he doesn't deserve the hype afforded to him when playing for England.

ok i do know that usa is a long shot to win it all
and espn was sayin spain was the team to beat also i hear alot about argentina

so my question is who really IS the team to beat? who is the favorite to win it all? i haven't watched world cup since brazil won it

Germany, Brazil are looking very dangerous. Spain isn't looking too good at the moment

U.S. World Cup match may set internet traffic record

t1larg.donovan.goal.gi.jpg

(Mashable) -- The dramatic ending to the World Cup match between the U.S. and Algeria on Wednesday could set a new record for internet traffic.

We've been watching Akamai's Net Usage Index, which tracks visitors per minute on the company's vast network of websites. In the minutes following Landon Donovan's game winning goal in the 91st minute of action (which sent the US to the round of 16), traffic spiked to 11.2 million visitors per minute, which move the event past the 2008 presidential election as the second highest traffic day of all-time.

Wednesday's number was also likely pushed significantly higher because England and Slovenia were also playing a suspenseful World Cup match at the same time. The plethora of World Cup breaking news briefly knocked Yahoo Sports offline and also caused issues at Twitter -- though the latter has been somewhat of a regular occurrence during the World Cup.

On a related note, tweets containing "USA" spiked to 6% of total tweet volume.

The overall traffic record was set earlier this month during the first day of World Cup action, where traffic exceeded 12 million visitors per minute. We'll wait and see what the final numbers are from Akamai, but for the moment, it looks like Donovan's goal will go down in Internet history at least as a solid No. 2.

This competition is so open its ridiculous. I don't know if there's a clear cut favorite, but if one had to lean one way, i'd say Argentina are the team to beat. I think Uruguay are a sleeper here as well. This question will clearly be answered in the next stages of the competition though because now we've weeded out half of the competition.

Hopefully all the big boys are going to impress this round, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, ahem, USA. (Wishful thinking)

:D

is it true that usa could face germany in the next round? if so what are the odds

It's possible. Depends on how this game between Ghana and Germany plays out.

Lets check the videotape:

As it stands, Serbia is almost guaranteed to go through, so one can say Serbia, and Ghana/Germany will advance.

Ghana leads this group with 4 pts. If Ghana win here, they will win this group with 7 pts.

If Germany wins, they will end up with 6 pts, and more than likely end up the winner of this group on goal differential.

This is just roughly lookin at it, cause stranger things have happened in football, but my bet is Ghana advances as the first place team, and Serbia 2nd.

The USA will face the runner up of this Group D, so it would be USA v Serbia on Saturday.

real talk i hate when your team is building and creating and has a good flow. and then some selfish dude just gets the ball from 40 yards out and then just shoots the shit into the stands like he had a chance in hell of making it.

Germany are beatable. Granted they have a few players missing but they can't deal with Ghana on the counter. The only way Germany will score against us is down the wings, that's where Ghana's weak spot is. Mark my words.

I'm just waiting to see if Ghana can get a non-PK goal.
