Off The Wall Vs Thriller --WHICH IS THE BETTER ALBUM?

michael_jackson_off_the_wall_thriller.jpg

I'm listening to this album right now and had forgotten how amazingly smooth it is. No skip-overs at all.

:cool::cool:

Chime in w/ you thoughts.

What's M.J.'s best album?

****MODS, CAN YOU ADD A POLL FOR ME?

extra c/s!!!,,, i've always thought that,,, videos pushed the "thriller" album to what it was,,, no such thing as videos when "off the wall" was out,,, mj was an innovator of music videos,,, was still a new concept,,, & prior to mj, videos were basically just whiteboys playing heavy metal in concert

I just shuffle... when you play MJ's (jackson 5 included) catalog of music:eek::eek::eek: he had too many good songs. But these 2 albums... cant go wrong either way.

You look at some of the shit out today:smh::smh:... what the fuck is a pretty ricky and how did it get a deal:confused:

Yeah, man.
Sales numbers tend to to push albums to greater popularity rather than content and melodic composition.

Tight Album for sure, but I have to roll with Thriller... Only song I can't sing word for word on that joint is "Baby Be Mine"... Thriller was pure fire... but of course I have to agree that the videos added more heat...

Years of being dumbed-down and programmed have created the perfect consumer for records labels: stupid bubble gum-poppin' teens with no real knowledge of musical content.

You pretty much opened & closed this thread & left no room for an opinion outside your own.

If I had to choose though, it would be Off The Wall as well.

They both were both classic albums front to back, but 8 out of 9 songs on Thriller were hit singles.

Yup. The force...it's got a lot of power. It makes feel like WHOOO!!

I liked Off the wall better, but as dude said the video pushed Thriller.

OFF THE WALL was the SHIT!!!

Its telling of his greatness as an artist that such a super great album as off the wall can be followed by the greatest album of all time.

yeah i was thinking about that....Off the wall was the last big hit record in the Hood. Thriller had cross him over to "pop" i.e. more white people.

Of course off the wall was better not only was it his first solo debut it was more soulful, thriller although a great album was more for the masses or more commerical

Hmmm, something I can remember saying way back in 1984 (or 1985 for you know whose sake) after Thriller won all the grammys.
And one of the reasons why I place NO emphasis on award shows

i like Thriller better....but after listening to Off The Wall again yesterday....it amazed me how great of an album it was.

^^^^^^^^^^c/s ^^^^^^^^
:yes:Exactly... Off The Wall is still my favorite. Thriller is close though

The thing that amazes me most about MJ is the concept songs...dude was one of a kind. My moms loved Off The Wall cause that was their shit when she was a teen, so I heard it all the time...Thriller was my time & Bad was the equivalent to her OTW. Both are classics & just show how he improved each album

just what I was gonna say fam..this is a thread that should have 6 or more pages. these 2 records need to be explored more nowadays. just to mention, that "BAD" album is a very good album.

So far "Off the Wall" has a 4:5 margin
