Where do I start I would like to have a dslr camera. I need to learn the basics where can I find the info?

I read this thread again and all I thought was: damn, more than half a dozen new bodies out and glass is still the best investment.

As a pro shooter (full time) with over 30 yrs of experience, I'd say unless you just have money to burn going full frame "just because" isn't a good reason in my opinion. You can get the same desired results & probably better results starting with something lower like say a D7100. Also as folks have stated your glass is going to make a big difference in what you're able to accomplish.

I'm a Nikon shooter, myself but have nothing against Canon & tell folks to get what feels best in their hands.
 
If you're doing stills and video check out the mft systems. The gh3 and the gh4 that's coming out. Light weight and great video quality. :yes:
 
Had the 5d MarkII but went with a lighter body and a mft system in a panasonic body. I have a gh3 now and a t4i but I'm selling the t4i and getting the gh4 next month. :yes:
 
I fell in love with the size and performance of the Sony a55 DSLR. I was considering purchasing one of those as a starter / bang for the buck camera and it's compact size. Give me some info. on this one if you have it.

how are you liking the gh3 coming from a 5D and cannon glass IQ wise? I would take a hacked gh2 and the 4 looks really nice. my co-worker has a 3, but I have not seen anything that he shot with it yet.
