New 2nd Stimulus Package Updates

Shit, I've been off since March 2nd. That lil shit was helping with utilities. They cut off the extra and my shit looking extra medium. :roflmao3: :roflmao3:

I just need it to keep from dipping into my savings.

I got my last $600 on Monday. Luckily, my job picked me up part time again and gave me two classes, so it kind of makes up for the $1200 I’m going to miss for the next two weeks.

I can’t front, I’ve been saving like shit since I’ve been getting that $600 a week. I live a frugal lifestyle so two weeks of unemployment covers all my bills (student loans and another personal loan was temporarily suspended). The other two weeks of this went to the bank. I’ve increased my savings nearly $4k more than I had.

Man, now that I got part time work, I can still prevent dipping into savings. If they pass the next stimulus, I’m saving, paying off credit debt, and making the next career move.

My credit score has went up, so financially this pandemic has been working out for me.

by the time Johnson became president after the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, he was ready to plow all of his political capital to the passage of the civil rights legislation initiated by his predecessor. By most accounts, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 couldn’t have become law when it did had not LBJ personally wheedled, cajoled, and shamed his former colleagues in the House and Senate into voting for it. One of the secrets of his success was the ability to speak the racially insensitive language of his fellow Southerners. He understood them. He understood their reluctance and in some cases downright refusal to tear down the walls of racial segregation. He knew racism from the inside, and he knew well the role the rich and powerful played in promulgating it.

That’s the context of one of the most famous statements on race ever attributed to President Johnson, an off-the-cuff observation he made to a young staffer, Bill Moyers, after encountering a display of blatant racism during a political visit to the South. Moyers tells it in the first person:

In the blunt vernacular that he loved to use, LBJ was describing what the television pundits of today would probably call the politics of resentment and divisiveness. It is still very much with us.

Glad you shared this. Most people white or black do not know this at all. LBJ was an opportunist who was also involved in the murder of JFK.

Republicans and Democrats put on a show for the public. Ask anyone in politics, especially those who live in DC, when the cameras turn off and the reporters go home, they all hang out with each other. That's how you get videos such as Lindsey Graham speaking so highly of Joe Biden. The American public are puppets on a string.

Alright. I feel you with the Essential Workers thing.

On the other topic, you oversimplifying things a bit.

Sure some people are "chilling" at home.

Others have way more expenses that you might think. Car loans, student loan, debt, child support, mortgage.

You mentioned Cali and NY. Naw. You can be someone in Bumfuck TN if you were making 200k/yr then lost your job, 1k a week has your struggling.

You will be losing. Sure if you are single. You good. But people in those situations usually have like 4 kids who go to private schools etc.

Thank You !!! @Dannyblueyes Exactly !!!
Some jobs gave essential workers a $2 per hour "hazard pay" increase
But that was only for the 1st two months when corona first popped off
They already been done snatched that shit back
Most people are working their regular pay, but...reduced hours because businesses are still slow

People on unemployment were getting an automatic $600 every week, because of the stimulus package
Plus on top of that, their regular state unemployment which usually tops off at $300-$400 a week, depending on your state, and depending on how much income you were making before
So.....most people have been getting paid $900-$1000 a week, every week, just to sit & chill at home
And thats not even counting the reduced expenses.....gas, car maintenance from driving to work everyday, etc, etc

That's a come up for most, unless you live in NYC or Cali where the average salaries are much higher

Student Loans suspended?
Bro, I dont think you doing yourself a favor suspending those loans but if you can't afford it, I get it.
You might want to keep paying those loans.

They were automatically suspended as part of the first stimulus package. That wasn't my decision. Plus, it didn't have an effect on my accruing interests.

Same here.

I'm scheduled to go back to work, but the logistics are crazy. Flying to Norway then South Africa during Covid is not something I want to do, but this $600 a week isn't going to cut it in the long run. Shit is chump change.

You're right. It isn't. It's good chill money, but, in the long run, it just stalls you.

That's why I can do one more round to save some more, then it's career shifting time. Already working on it now by putting in applications, but these are not desired positions.

Man they could cry me a river over these private schools. Especially when they're all holding classes on Zoom just like the public schools.

What worries me most about the people who are "chilling at home". Is the psychological impact. it is not normal for Americans to deal with this much fear and uncertainty in their everyday lives. Drug and alcohol consumption is up. Suicides are up. Domestic violence is up. People are gaining weight at an unhealthy rate.

The last one may not seem like a problem, except that all experts seem to agree that covid-19 vaccines will not work very well in obese people.

my point is at all of this fear and uncertainty has pushed us to a point of collective trauma and there's no telling how that's going to turn out.

Sounds like a fun job.
Be diligent and remember it is the viral load that gets mad people.
In order words, if you HAVE to be around a lot of people, do not stay around them for a long period of time!
Cause if someone is sick and you are around them for long the virus will load up on your ass. Be in and out.

Also wear masks, make sure they do too and wash your hands and entire body often.

They are going to treat the rig like the bubble. Problem is, once guys test negative, you have to trust them the 4 days before we get on the rig. Some of these dudes are simply stupid and will risk everything to grab a beer. I missed the first rotation, so I get to find out how it goes. next time around.

homie...fear and uncertainty on a societal level is Tuesday for the black community....when HAVEN'T we operated under those conditions in this country??

Looks like there is no deal.
Some republican senators have went home.
Idiot in chief will likely do an executive order.
I'm still unclear on

1) How they can fuck up something this easy to deal with, and
2) Why we keep letting them do Number 1.

And yeah, I get it, shit's not always clear cut. But when it comes to helping actual people, that should be the one time everybody can get off of their asses and do the work. Hell, if we thought we needed to bomb someone, we'd be on round three of building missiles by now....

Like this though?
dude black people had to deal with the 1929 stock market crash, LYNCHING and the govt literally saying we don't give a fuck about you. Stats and history shows when white people get the cold we get bubonic plague....then get blamed for getting it and told to deal with that shit on our own.

Like I said....This shit is TUESDAY...

I can't dispute your facts, but I'm seeing a lot of Black people falling apart right now. People that I've known for years. People who have had family members murdered right in front of them and still kept on going. People I've turned to for strength when my own life was falling apart.

it might be Tuesday for you. It might be Tuesday for others, but that is not the norm for most right now.

Because its the basic principle of welfare. Republicans will complain about too many benefits. Rich white folks will complain about too many benefits. Then regular white folks will complain about too many benefits.........until they start receiving them. It not until you threaten to take away something that people have gotten used to, that when you see the need and despair for said benefit. This is exactly what happened with the ACA/ Obama Care.

If Trump has to step in and do an Executive Order which gives citizens the $600/ we plus the $1200, his four more years is solidified. Mark my words. Republicans want this to happen. Democrats think making the public suffer will reflect on Trump, nope he's gonna look like the savior.

Stimulus Package Update (Thursday August 6th)

its just poor whites so who gives a fuck...

“I’ll tell you what’s at the bottom of it,” he said. “If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

- LBJ
Yep. We're the designated under caste. It's mostly boils downs to they don't our black asses getting so much as a crumb. If poor whites suffer - they're an acceptable casualty.
