Netflix has given a 10-episode order to Wu Assassins, martial arts sci-fi crime drama series starring Iko Uwais (The Raid, Star Wars: The Force Awakens). It hails from Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures (24), John Wirth (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles; Falling Skies) and Nomadic Pictures (Fargo, Hell on Wheels).

Byron Mann (Altered Carbon) co-stars in the series, slated for an August 8 production start. Stephen Fung will direct the first two episodes, with Krantz expected to helm another. In addition to playing the lead, Uwais also will serve as producer, lead martial arts and fight choreographer and stunt coordinator.

Written by Wirth, who also serves as showrunner, Wu Assassins, set in San Francisco’s Chinatown, is a martial arts crime series with supernatural elements. It stars Uwais as Kai Jin, who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin, chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. Mann plays Uncle Six.
Wirth executive produces with Krantz and Nomadic Pictures’ Oakes and Frislev.

Uwais is known for his roles in The Raid, The Raid 2 on which he also served as fight choreographer, and most recently Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He’s in post-production on Mile 22, on which he stars and serves as co-fight choreographer. He is repped by Gersh, Ricky Siahaan and Management 360.
Mann most recently appeared as O.G. Kovacs in Netflix’s Altered Carbon. He’ll next be seen in Universal’s Skyscraper and Blumhouse feature Only You.
Wirth previously worked with Nomadic Pictures on Hell On Wheels where he served as an executive producer.
Krantz also has Suburbs Famous (working title), a dramedy co-written and starring Nia Vardalos, in development at Bravo. He is repped by CAA, Echo Lake Entertainment, and attorney Bianca Levin.

Can't wait, this will be my fix til Warrior on cinemax back for s2, got my Bae Lagertha sexy ass in here too

What does the Wu Tang Clan have to do with this?
Why not just called it "Assassins"?

I got a feeling I won't like this as much as Warrior even tho i like a lot of ppl in this cast, the supernatural element in this makes it more cheesy compared to Warrior

So for all the Wu tang comments in here...

Kats do know that Wu tang name came from a kungfu flick.

Also oh snap my boy from Enter the badlands is in here. I like dude... he has mad potential.

Dialogue is corny as fuck

Acting is a little stiff .... so far

But the fighting is nice....

This does have potential but man This might have work better if Iko was allowed to do this in his native language...

This reminds me of Samo Hung from Martial Law... that series was beyond tight but Samo barely said a word.

I do know one thing

My boy from Into the Badlands is too big for this show. Dude has that it factor....

@fonzerrillii I havent started this yet but how does it compare to warrior thus far to you

Warrior is the far superior show....

But this isn't bad. The fighting is legit... and I read that Summer Glau is in this.. So I pushing through.

It's just the dialogue and the way that it's shot are killing me.

yeah from the Trailer I had a feeling it wouldn't be as good as warrior, I just like a lot of the cast like my bae Lagertha, Lewis Tan, etc. I'm trying to decide which netflix series to start 1st between this or Naked Director that just dropped as well

Damn Naked Director dropped...... DAMN

I would say that if you are looking for Action and Old School 90s type shit... then WU Assassins is the show...

OK.... I'm going to give this the same review that I give to people about THE100..

You just need to push through the first 3 episodes..... Once you get to the end of Episode 3... Shit starts coming into form....

The fighting is legit....

The dialogue does get slightly better...

The music choices do get better.

Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) jumps in on Episode 4 and immediately elevates the shit.

I still have issues..

One of the biggest is the direction of the show.... the fight scenes are amazingly shot...

but the scene transitions are horrible... It's tough to tell when something is a flashback and what is a dream. It jumps around.

I do think that this show is pretty much what people hoped IRON FIST would be.

Also Asian Chick with the Blonde hair is a martial arts beast.

I've only seen 1 ep so far and don't like it as much as warrior

Yeah you have to push through...

Episode 1 and 2... were rough..

3 was rough until the end...

Then Episode 4.... is when things pick up.

You can't compare this to Warrior... This is a different beast.

It's not brutal like Warrior.... this is more like a Jackie Chan type show. Kind of reminds me of Netflix's foreign Martial Arts shows but with an English Language caset.

I'll have to restart it. Seems like.it needs a bit of focus as there are flash backs and stuff.
