Netflix says it will kill the DVD

The media is just the vehicle the industry uses to distribute its content. You never "own" the movie regardless of what "media" it is delivered on. if you're worried about having a "copy" of the streamed movie.. there are ways to record the netflix stream. So I don't understand your concern.

how? i heard netflix was good at detecting and banning your account for capturing thier streams.

everyone needs excellent broadband speeds to make this happen

and that's all you need to know...
key word EVERYONE (not just tech heads)

Factors That Influence Internet Connection Type

According to Nielsen Claritas Convergence audit, 67% of American homes with a PC have access to high-speed Internet service. Around 11% of them are subscribed to dial-up connection. The following are some factors that were found to influence the type of Internet connection an American home possesses.

Here's the diagram to that shit

Stream capture software > streams > DVDs > CDs > VHs > Getting off our asses and going to the movies

there's something like 100 million homes....which means if that "survey" is correct (who trusts Nielsen?), then at least 33 million homes don't have what they need to be a customer....and don't be surprised if their numbers are not severely skewered in their favor.

Haha so you think ISP's are going to swap to a broadband cap plan?

No, it will never happen. Any company stupid enough to try this, will lose a big hunk of business. Who in their right mind would go to a company with a plan like that?

It will never, ever happen.

First - It's going to happen and next

Why would they lose business? If Comcast is the only service providing decent broadband speeds in the area why would people switch to AOL dial up? Also, the Cell phone companies just did this with their data plans so why cant ISPs do it?

You own the physical disk but not the movie. If you think you own the movie, start a website and start selling copies of what you think you own and see what happens. They are selling you a "license" to view it but if you owned it you could do whatever you wanted.

and like JD Walker said.. then STFY and rip your blu-ray nigga.

Yes if u buy a dvd u own the movie, if u want to sell it u can sell it at a used dvd store or online, if u want to copy it and sell it ofcourse u cant because of copyright laws just liek how I cant create a replica of a mac system and sell it because the intellectual property wasn't yours.
