They are selling you a "license" to view it but if you owned it you could do whatever you wanted.You own the physical disk but not the movie. Yes if u buy a dvd u own the movie, if u want to sell it u can sell it at a used dvd store or online, if u want to copy it and sell it ofcourse u cant because of copyright laws just liek how I cant create a replica of a mac system and sell it because the intellectual property wasn't yours.
