Netfix: OZARK Season 4 Discussion Thread (spoilers) (season 4 trailer!!) (drops 1/21/2022)

Enjoy how Marty and Bruce and the Old man trucking company and their wives would be the ones to talk down on the drug users, dealers, and everything else. They'd vote for reform and all of this other shit and yet they owe their entire lives directly to drugs.. like they are drug dealing TOO but they don't see it as that they have delusionized themselves to be detached from the reality and then the reality hits.
It's why Bruce and the boy can try and steal 8 million over 3 years when they're making MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOR DOING NOTHING
It's why Marty didn't take the Snell's seriously immediately and had to learn that he better had. He kept talking about his employers but the Snell's are drug dealers too.

Great part about Marty thinking that the Snell's were small time.

R.I. P. Del he was excellent at his job and reading people
Knew bruce was lying because he shut up finally
Knew Marty was lying about the Ozark's however knew Marty wasn't involved and wanted to give him a 2nd chance.
Fast forward after he pulls his toenails off knows Marty isn't lying about having a plan because he didn't give him any of the details

Del's guard is trash.
She had the shotgun pointed and didn't warn Del she was close to shooting him

I had thought about that. When did she get the gun out because even Dell should have even seen it. Also i don't see why they don't get the money from the wall and haul ass now that dell is gone. They have the new IDs and Passports. Marty can easily lead the rest of the cartel to believe he is dead and the Rednecks are responsible for killing Dell and the the money. But overall this is better than Power.

He explained why you can't do that with cash in the opening monologue lol

I still have no idea how they are able to continuously do this..

Bateman will play financial planner Marty Bird, who suddenly relocates from a Chicago suburb to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks, and who must pay off a debt to a Mexican drug lord, with Laura Linney playing his wife Wendy.

THANK YOU!

GOT DAMN what a show.
He makes everything worth watching. White Denzel. :roflmao:

I read this and thought - Co fucking sign. Told some white folks this at work, they were like yeah okay dude. A day later they ALL came back in to work like Holy fucking shit dude!!!

BEST. NEW. SHOW.

SERIOUSLY.

Bateman even directed the first couple episodes. This man is a fucking talent beyond his worth.

Jonna is a G.
he's not terrifying he's just incredibly smart and can adapt to his surroundings. He's going to be Marty/Del 2.0

whatever he is taught he absorbs like a sponge.
Before he found out his parents dealt with drugs he would not have taken that stance on drugs in school. After, he absolutely did. Before he was worried about a hit man watching the crib he wouldn't have gotten that assault rifle. After he absolutely got it and was ready. When the LT came in the house he had the assault rifle ready to defend his family.
He's going to learn and improve how to wash money.
It's going to be a more charismatic "the accountant" origin story.

Naw dude...

To quote myself...

That motherfucker... was ripping out animal intestines on the boat dock..

If I had a Gif of that shit I'd post it.... Dude was ripping out that shit like fucking toilet paper and then leaving random Dead animals on their property.

Dude is terrifying..

They were already worried about him before they even moved to the Ozarks.

Yea I disagree
He's just brilliant a savant and they don't know how to challenge him mentally

The entire reason he did it was to observe vultures and study them

He just operates on a high level and they aren't nurturing it

Again same kid who once he found out the deal had his handicap friend buy him a gun to stash in the woods and when the lt came he was ready.

That's chess fam not murderous he just isn't afraid to get his hands dirty which scares ppl cause most ppl would just make the theory but not practice

I ain't afraid of no spoilers  I'll stay out tho just to be safe

YES!

Come back when you done son! I had to do the same thing with Attack on Titan.

Only thing is, Netflix is fucking up on promoting this shit. For real. This is EASILY one of the Best new shows Ive seen this year. THIS SHOULD MOST DEF BE UP FOR SOME AWARDS THIS YEAR. Not completely original but its done in such a way to correct any issues up front.

I can barely remember any promoting for this and I only heard about it from the board. Afterwards I seen Grace Randolph did a series review on it and she said the same damn thing- she was late. Matter fact, she might even lurk here. Lotta YouTube folks do. Lotta TV commentators too. Lotta civilians trying to use our shit really.

I see your point but honestly... I think this show is showing us the slow buildup of a serial killer. Which I'm all for... if they do it right he could end up being something that's rarely shown. This kid is fasicnated with death. Find out about his dads business has allowed him to find an outlet for the impulses that he has kept inside.

Personally I'd much rather see that then him trying to be like his dad and learn the business. That's Ruth's role in this.

You are definitely right about the lack of promoting... the only way I knew about it was when the trailer popped on my YouTube feed. Then I only clicked it cause I saw Jason Bateman was in it and as we have already stated... Dude is the white Denzel.

Honestly the board is sleeping on this show.. Fucking thread should be 10 pages.

Yes it's not original but it had this level of grounded reality mixed with surreality that works. I was hooked in from episode one.

Fam - I'm so surprised. Its the pacing that does it.

Bateman is an everyman but a successful one at that and there is the draw for the show. Soon as I heard death of the middle class, I was like fuck I wrote something like that in one of my old scripts - it hit a nerve. The wife. The kids. The shady past or seedy desires. We can all adapt to this shit.

Even on the slow episodes, the pacing just rolls on. Even when it seems like there might be filler in the script, then it comes back full circle and you're like oh shit - THATS why they showed this or THATS why that was mentioned. The writing is very well done. Mix in some weird shit to pepper up the story and some twists to spin the plot and it works brilliantly.

Couldn't have said it better man... I think it was the little details that did me in. Like it took me three episodes to really notice the significance of the items shown in the title card "O" in the beginning of each episode. It brilliantly made me pay extra attention to each detail so I could see how the pictures related. This drew me even more into the story.

He is going to be learn the business. he has the aptitude to do both. That's why I said 2.0
The calculated killer side
and the genius side to wash all the money away. It's too late now he done wrapped 100m he's going to be involved in the family business.

so he can't sell heroin but he can drown his baby...oops ok nvm I was about to fucking spaz

Yeah that part was a little intense. I do think that he was questioning his faith when he realized that his wife is likely gone.

Side note... we never really discussed how gangster the swells are... these dudes likely cut the baby out of this woman.

Del = gus fring...every time he was on screen, you felt his importance. He sounded measured and calculated. He also respected people who were the same. The episode that shows everything going backwards, you can see Del was making an offer that Marty couldn't refuse. Cold how they did the previous money manager though...like instantly...dismissed him...Del doesn't play

Agreed. Definitely a scene-stealer. Perfect for the role.

Fuck it. Even though I can just download shit, I'm going to keep putting money into Netflix to produce more shows like this. Most their original content is just great.

Damn. That's redneck's wife don't play. From dropping the lemonade to the shotgun blast. Makes Gemma Teller look like Mary poppins.

Yeah I made the decision along time ago that Netflix is just worth paying for. It's gotten to the point that I just look at Netflix original content.

That daughter of their was weird. Couldn't her mind one track long enough to make a good decision. Well, most teenager girl can't generally. I am still waiting to see if her posting on social media would have an effect in the second season...
