But why would he appoint someone who never agreed with net neutrality? Like nominating a pro-law enforcement centrist for SCOTUS.

That's fine but why place someone who is adverse? Someone McConnel recommended, the same prick that blocked the majority of your appointments?

He has served in various positions at the FCC since being appointed to the commission by President Barack Obama in May 2012, at the recommendation of Mitch McConnell
. He was confirmed unanimously by the United States Senate on May 7, 2012,[ and was sworn in on May 14, 2012, for a five-year term.

When Ajit Pai was named FCC chairman earlier this year, shortly after the start of the Trump administration, he quickly made it a goal to reverse the net neutrality rules passed in 2015. Today, he got his wish, and he explained why he felt it was appropriate in a speech ahead of the vote.

Some of this shit makes no sense.

Maybe he wanted to appease whatever master was in charge.

These hoes ain't loyal.

1 Embarrassing Photo Shuts Down Ted Cruz’s Argument Against Net Neutrality
That didn’t go so well for the Texas senator.

By Ed Mazza
X

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) on Thursday tried to mock supporters of net neutrality, the rule repealed by the FCC that had required Internet service providers to treat all traffic equally.

It didn’t go well.

Critics warn the repeal could lead to ISPs charging extra for access to certain websites or even block them completely.

Cruz had an imaginary argument in which the concerns of a “snowflake” are shut down by an “informed observer” such as himself:

Ted Cruz

âś”@tedcruz

Snowflake, believing online propaganda: "OMG w/o net neutrality, the Internet is gone!" Informed observer: "You know, the FCC issued that rule in 2015. The Internet grew up wonderfully free from govt regulation & this restores the status quo ante." Snowflake: "Uh, never mind..."

Journalist and historian Eoin Higgins fired back with a tweet that used just 10 words and a photo illustrating the kinds of traffic that could be slowed or stopped by ISPs:

Replying to @tedcruz

Ted, let me put the issue as succinctly as possible.

The photo is a scene showing porn star Cory Chase in the hardcore flick “Moms Bang Teens 20,” which infamously earned a “like” from Cruz’s Twitter account earlier this year.

Cruz insisted the “like” was caused by a staffer with access to his account.

“It was an honest mistake, it wasn’t malicious, it wasn’t deliberate,” Cruz told CNN’s Dana Bash. “It was a screwup.”

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story misstated the last name of Eoin Higgins, who has reported for HuffPost.

Downloading movie and music torrents will be throttled down so much that it won t be worth it....the movie music and porn industry will pay money to the ISPs for that

Won't get too excited about this until after the 2024 election. Cause even if they run it through beforehand, one election cycle can blow it all up again.

The agenda remains the same, no matter the administration.
TikTok plays directly into this.

That agenda is to:
1. Limit
2. Restrict
3. Alter
4. Control

What part of the title is not true? it was repealed when Trump was in office. alternative facts won't change that.

No I was quoting the statement...that.. internet downloading and the sharing of files would be slowed down, as the stand alone

statement it was...

if you are saying trump was standing with internet providers, then I wouldnt be surprised, Im sure there was a lot of donations,

made under the table to make that happen.

I do think we got lucky though. I think providers were going to slowly add those restrictions over time.

However, it was one of the few things liberals and conservatives could agree with. Trumpers like their porn too... Lol

It toooooo early in the internet game for us to be worried about that, because right now there is too much competition,

for data mining, you dont NEED to charge money to profit from internet service, you just need the best code to collect data...

and right now there is a major war going on and its going to be going on for awhile...

as long as our data is big business, we wont have to worry about over paying for internet service for at least a few

decades...

If verizon fiber optics takes over and becomes a thing... then yea worry about net neutr whatever the fuck its called...

but they aint even close, they fucked up the bag by getting to greedy and complacent... now tmobile is lookin at em like,

told ya we comin.... and you got many others venues like google etc...

too much competition to have to worry bout that shit for now... if anything you need to be more concern with protecting

YOUR DATA!!! but I aint even worried about that as long as it aint financial.. dont give a fuck what data they mine,

I dont have anything to hide... da fuck they gonna see on my hard drive.. best bud in NYC.. and big booty bitches bendin over...

like I give a fuck!!

This had nothing to do with data mining. This was about internet providers wanting to double dip in their pricing. They wanted to charge both their direct customers and any websites that access their lines. Plus, they also wanted to have complete control over what traffic could go over networks. They basically wanted to treat the internet like one big toll bridge. Don't pay the toll, can't use their roads. Small content providers were looking to take a major hit if this ever becomes a reality.

The competition among internet providers is actually quite limited depending on where you live.
