NBA Trade Rumors

I thought I had seen him play enough and already knew this but would somebody please explain caron butlers game to me?

I just seems like the Celtics(pierce) and Mavs(Marion) would be doubling up here

For the celtics it would be easy!!!
Pierce is really a shooting guard(was number 1 three point shooter in the NBA this year until the celtic slump dropped him to 5th). so pierce would move into ray Allen's SG slot.
Butler is a better rebounder than pierce and would move into the starting SF slot for the celtics. so it would be:

Rondo(PG) 6'1"
Pierce(SG) 6'6"
Butler(SF) 6'7"
Garnett(PF) 6'11"
Perkins(C) 6'11"

With
Antawn Jamison off the bench to give Garnett a break at (PF)
Rasheed Wallace off the bench to give Perkins a break at (C)

Sounds like a good deal for the celtics if true!!!

Jamison came off the bench in Dallas so he's already done that before.

From Washington's standpoint trading both of them makes no sense to me.

There must be more to the locker room antics than it may appear to be.
Maybe Washington just wants to with a clean slate!!

Cavs intensify trade talks for Amare Stoudemire

According to multiple sources, over the past few days the Cavs have had advancing talks with the Phoenix Suns about All-Star forward Amar'e Stoudemire. It is not the only player they have interest in -- there are still long-term-target forwards Antawn Jamison of Washington and Troy Murphy of the Pacers out there -- but it seems the Cavs are focusing on Stoudemire.

Cavs General Manager Danny Ferry and Suns General Manager Steve Kerr, former teammates and friends who already have collaborated on a big deal to bring center Shaquille O'Neal to Cleveland, met Friday afternoon in Dallas. Suns owner Robert Sarver and Cavs owner Dan Gilbert also are in town and are on the labor relations committee that met.

Knicks in serious talks for McGrady

The New York Knicks are getting closer to reaching the Houston Rockets’ demands for Tracy McGrady(notes) and his $23 million expiring contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Knicks and Rockets have designed the framework of a deal that would unload New York’s Jared Jeffries(notes), Jordan Hill(notes) and either Al Harrington(notes) or Larry Hughes(notes) for McGrady, Joey Dorsey(notes) and Brian Cook(notes).

As talks stood on Monday, the price of dumping the burdensome contract of Jeffries – who is owed $6.9 million next season – comes with the Knicks and Rockets exchanging 2011 first-round picks and the Knicks’ 2012 first-round choice going to Houston. New York also might include a 2010 second-round pick.

The Utah Jazz own the Knicks’ first-round pick in 2010.

The discussion on potential draft picks changing hands remains fluid.

The completion of the deal isn’t imminent, but sources involved in the discussions are increasingly confident that after months of back and forth, which intensified over All-Star weekend, an agreement is within reach. TNT’s David Aldridge first reported that talks between the teams had picked up.

One of the hang-ups in the deal, sources said, could be the Knicks’ inclusion of either Harrington or Hughes. There are slight variations of the trade that would change depending on which of the two veteran Knicks’ expiring contracts are included. With Harrington over Hughes in the deal, the Rockets wouldn’t need to include Cook.

For the Knicks, the trade would accomplish two important things: First, it would get Jeffries’ salary cleared out, something general manager Donnie Walsh has tried to do since taking the job. This would give the Knicks even more flexibility to be a major player in this summer’s free-agent market. Also, the Knicks want to take a good look at McGrady and let him play as much of a role as he can handle the rest of the season. They may consider re-signing him for next season, based on his performance.

Rockets GM Daryl Morey would get Hill, the untested eighth pick in the 2009 draft, and first-round picks that could prove valuable. This will get the Rockets a significant measure of value for McGrady, who they exiled in December. McGrady, sources said, is excited about the possibility of joining the Knicks.

Gatdamn that's a lot to give up just for McGrady. As much as I'd luv to see Jeffries contract come off the books, the Knicks would still be getting rapped in this deal. :smh:

the move would for sure give the knicks room to sign two big time free agents in the summer

I hope not but a deal like that would put the knicks in the chris Bosh signing (I do not want Bosh on this team!)...I think Tyson Chandler will b free in 2010 I'd sign him.
Chandler
Danillo
Lebron
T-Mac
Douglass?

But that'd leave Wilson Chandler without a spot and if they resign Lee it could be

Lee
Danilo
Lebron
T-mac
Douglass with Wilson off the bench?

Trading Hill would leave this team depending on Eddy Curry next season...

If they resign Lee and sign chandler to cover for Lee's lack of Defense and trade Wilson for a PG(augustin maybe?)

It could be

Chandler
Lee
Danilo
Lebron
Augustin with T-mac off the bench?

I hope we trade Lee to the Bobcats for Augustin and their 1st.
Maybe not get Lebron

Chandler
Danilio
Wilson C
T-Mac or Joe Johnson and let T-Mac go...
Augustin or Douglass

The knicks would be too stacked at the sg/sf spot and even the PF spot...
The team would have to be completely remade this off season.

True but also sacrifice the ability to get younger players. Donnie Walsh has done wonders to help get the Knicks back to respectability with his trades so far so I'll trust his judgement on this as well.

Hell no to Tyson Chandler. He's a liability on the offensive end & his prowess on the defensive end is negated by his constant injuries over the last few seasons.

i think the knicks rebuild will be based on danilo, douglass(the rockets wanted douglass the knicks refuse to deal him and he was the 29th pick where hill was the 8th) and wilson chandler and david lee. The rest will come via FA's and 2nd round picks or picks they bought like the lakers pick last year for 3 mil.
I really hope they dont go after Bosh...I think he'll Bomb in NY...

tyson chandler + and Mcgrady = fail

Hell no to Tyson Chandler. He's a liability on the offensive end & his prowess on the defensive end is negated by his constant injuries over the last few seasons.

I'd rather defense over Lee's no defense and depending on Eddy Curry again...if no Chandler that'd mean Bosh in NY...

NY is looking for an even bigger summer then when they got Houston, Childs and LJ. I just nervous cause my Knicks most of the time get stars past their prime.

This McGrady trade doesn't make any sense for Houston. Their helping the Knicks by taking Jeffries but for Houston they already have two good defenders in Battier and Ariza so I don't see the need for Jeffries. I could see if he was a scorer but he's not so he doesn't help them at all.

Harrington will help them for a playoff push but thats about it.

Lee plays zero defense
Lee played less of everything but rebounds when he 1st came in the league. Every year he has improved another part of his game. I doubt anyone would've believed Lee would be a 20/10 guy when he was 1st drafted. His defense can improve especially if you acquire an All Star caliber free agent who demands & brings it out of you. Chandler played with an All Star & was decent at best & definitely hasn't done enough to improve on the parts of his game where he's weak.

Spurs look to trade McDyess, eye Thomas

The San Antonio Spurs are trying to unload Antonio McDyess and the remaining $7.5 million owed him after this season to possibly clear a way to make a trade for Chicago Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas, league
sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Spurs have been searching for expiring deals to move McDyess, who will make $4.9 million next season and is guaranteed about $2.6 million in 2011-12. Trading McDyess would free minutes and give them greater flexibility to re-sign Thomas this summer if they want. Thomas would give the Spurs a younger, more athletic complement to Tim Duncan, and
could be part of a future frontline with former first-round pick Tiago Splitter and rookie DeJuan Blair.

The Spurs are shopping Roger Mason, who is in the final season of his
contract, with the help of Mason’s agent. In addition to Mason, they have a number of other expiring contracts – Michael Finley(notes), Matt Bonner, Ian Mahinmi among them – to possibly offer the Bulls.

The Denver Nuggets could be a match for McDyess, who played six seasons there. Nevertheless, it’s less likely the Spurs would want to do that deal with another Western Conference contender. The Bulls have been shopping Thomas, and are trying to get expiring contracts and a good first-round pick for him.

New York still has interest in a deal for Thomas that would include Al Harrington, but doesn’t have a 2010
first-round pick to give them. And one of the Knicks future first-round picks could be on its way to Houston in the deal they’re discussing for Tracy McGrady and his expiring contract.

The Spurs are 30-21 and are tied for fifth place in the Western Conference. They traded for Richard Jefferson, who they also have tried to trade, and signed McDyess last summer to increase their
payroll to about $80 million in hopes of chasing their fifth championship.

Nate for House?

According to multiple sources, the Celtics and Knicks are close to a deal that would bring guard Nate Robinson to the Celts, possibly in exchange for Eddie House.

A league source, as well as a Knicks source, said yesterday that both sides still have interest in the deal that has been discussed in the past month. Two sources in Sacramento, where the Celts played the Kings last night, verified the interest from both sides.

The Celts have narrowed their positional need to a backup point guard who can defend. They have until tomorrow’s trade deadline to fill that need.

The Knicks might have particular interest in House, who played for coach Mike D’Antoni in Phoenix. D’Antoni was said to be a fan of House’s abilities at that time.

A league source said any interest the Celtics had in Sacramento forward Kevin Martin expired. A second source said while the C’s have continued interest in Chicago’s Kirk Hinrich, the sides aren’t close.

Robinson, who has the right to approve or disapprove a trade as part of his expiring $4 million contract, also is getting interest from the Lakers. A league source said the Celtics and Lakers are the only teams that would get his approval. There have been reports he’s agreed to go elsewhere, but the source only confirmed the Celts and Lakers as definites.

Last day Trade News

If T-Mac gets buy out with Kings, he privately hopes to sign with Lakers or Cavaliers for the playoffs, source close to him tells Y!

No evidence Lakers would have interest, but Danny Ferry kept an eye on T-Mac this season. That said, unclear if either team would want him.

Stoudemire Will Stay in Phoenix

Phoenix star forward Amar'e Stoudemire confirmed to FanHouse on Wednesday night he won't be traded by Thursday's deadline.

"I think I'm pretty much safe,'' Stoudemire said after a talk with owner Robert Sarver following the Suns' 107-97 loss at Dallas. "I feel good. But either way I was going to feel all right.''

It became apparent Stoudemire wouldn't be dealt after Cleveland, which had been pursuing the big man before getting tired of waiting, agreed to a trade earlier Wednesday in which it will get forward Antawn Jamison in a three-team deal.

Monta Ellis talk: Warriors turned down Memphis’ offer of OJ Mayo + salaries

But, by all indications, so far the Warriors aren’t eager to trade Ellis, even if he would be interested in a new location, if they’re beginning to realize he’s not a perfect fit with Stephen Curry and if Memphis is very interested in acquiring Ellis.

According to multiple NBA sources, the Warriors rejected Memphis’ intriguing offer of OJ Mayo + contract-filler.

This deal was first offered at the start of the season and possibly is still on the table, in Memphis’ view, and still rejected by the Warriors.

Now, unless there are humongous chemistry issues with Mayo, I don’t know how the Warriors could do much better in an Ellis deal.

(Well, I could think of one way–if the W’s could lure Rudy Gay from Memphis. Gay’s a restricted free agent this summer, so if Ellis remains a Warrior through the deadline, Gay is the name I’d remember for a trade in July/August.)

Knicks still in play for McGrady?

The Houston Rockets have unexpectedly emerged from their long-running efforts to trade Tracy McGrady with an agreement in place to acquire coveted guard Kevin Martin from the Sacramento Kings, ESPN.com has learned.

Multiple sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets and Kings will spend Thursday trying to make this a three-way deal that lands McGrady with the New York Knicks, who have been McGrady's preferred destination ever since he and the Rockets mutually agreed in late December to find the 30-year-old a new team via trade.

"I think it will happen," one source close to the situation told ESPN.com of McGrady winding up with the Knicks.

One source with knowledge of the talks confirmed to ESPN.com late Wednesday that routing McGrady to the Knicks is still the goal. But the Kings and Rockets -- who are longtime fans of Martin -- are committed to the deal they've struck in the event that terms can't be reached that include New York.

Heat reportedly made strong pitch for Boozer

According to reports Thursday afternoon, the Jazz were approached by Miami in the final hours before the trade deadline, with the Heat interested in acquiring Carlos Boozer after losing out on Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire.

The Heat offered the expiring contracts of Udonis Haslem and Quentin Richardson , ESPN.com reported. Miami also tried to involve Washington in a three-way trade scenario that would have sent Kyrylo Fesenko to Washington.

Sources: Bulls unloading Hinrich's salary

The Chicago Bulls have a deal in place that would move Kirk Hinrich and the 17th pick to the Washington Wizards, freeing up enough cap space to pursue two maximum-salary players on this summer's free-agent market, sources with knowledge of the Bulls' plans said Thursday.

*note - I recall seeing the rumor about Orlando and Washington trading Gilbert Arenas and Vince Carter. This move makes a hell of a lot of sense for Washington if that trade goes down. John Wall, Vince Carter, and Kirk Hinrich off the bench would make for a pretty damn good backcourt rotation for Washington.

3 Veterans who might be drawn into this draft

Al Jefferson, Timberwolves. He could be part of a larger trade by Minnesota. He has three years and $42 million left on his contract.

Rip Hamilton, Pistons. Detroit has been offering him in hopes of moving up, but his three years at $12.5 million annually may be prohibitive.

Kirk Hinrich, Bulls. How many times can we mention him as trade bait? On Wednesday, Miami dumped Daequan Cook's salary along with its No. 18 pick to clear extra cap space; maybe Chicago will make a similar move.
