Siakam didn't have a good game, he had an extraordinary game. The second time he went for 30+ points. This time he rarely missed. Now all he need do is have THREE more like that before GSW wins four games. Gasol also had an extraordinary shooting game. It's not the points. It's the fact that they didn't miss much.

I saw on both ESPN/FS1 the commentators started saying “SIAKAM and the Raptors” and even putting his pic up there instead of Kawhis in their graphics..lmaooo

Most shooters will land 90%+ of their shots in practice, its a little different when you are being guarded.

Doesn’t even have to be contested shot, just the situation of playing the actual game will bring that 90% down to 30%...lmaooo

There were 2 people warming up on the court before we seen any other players. Pascal Siakam and Clay Thompson. Probably like 90 minutes before the national anthem and all the intros they were there taking a bunch of shots. Watching Clay warm up is incredible. He just doesn't miss... swish after swish.

Tell me about it! I saw the Warriors a couple of years ago and Klay came out early after halftime. He shot twenty-five 3’s and missed one, ONE!

Most shooters will land 90%+ of their shots in practice, its a little different when you are being guarded.

Who you telling? I’m “ALL-WORLD” in practice, in a game I might be top 10 in the nation! :roflmao:

My DVR picked this up because I have it set to record all NBA playoff games...

Did anybody catch this? Who in the world, outside of family members and extremely close friends of the anchors, would tune in to watch an ESPN2 broadcast with people's heads in the way over the real broadcast on ESPN?

I'm genuinely curious about and interested in the decision to put this on the air. I could argue ESPN would have been better off just going with dead air on the sister network, or at least airing a non-basketball 30 for 30 re-run.

In other alternative broadcasting news... What the fuck is wrong with teenagers? I hope this is not a precursor of changes that will be made to main broadcasts in the coming years.

Viewers will see various emoji-like symbols pop up during game play – like a ‘fire’ graphic if a shooter has a hot hand. By 2119, The NY Times will look like The Coli. :smh:

And I still totally don't understand the appeal of commentators heads on screen obstructing actual gameplay.

Nolan, analyst Jay Williams, Snapchat “SportsCenter” host Gary Striewski and Mike Korzemba, a YouTube influencer who specializes in basketball-related content, will hold forth on a special Game 2 broadcast available only on the ESPN App. They will be superimposed at the bottom of the screen while the game plays above them. – and free to let loose. Viewers will see various emoji-like symbols pop up during game play – like a ‘fire’ graphic if a shooter has a hot hand – or data nuggets about steals, assists, rebounds and more. ESPN executives see the whole thing as an experiment in the ongoing quest by TV networks to give viewers between 12 and 17 a feed of game action that best suits them.

Catching younger sports fans in new ways is key to ESPN’s future. It’s no secret that ESPN has, like many other longstanding cable networks, faced an erosion of subscribers to its traditional linear outlets. ESPN has already cast for new ways to lure younger fans, including recent investments in rights deals with combat sports league such as the MMA.

The NBA test is likely to shake up the way ESPN anchors and producers handle their duties. Nolan, for example, will be on screen during much of Sunday’s game, rather than popping in occasionally or talking from behind the scenes.

She expects to have more freedom. “Maybe we will be talking off the cuff. Maybe I will get something wrong. Maybe no one corrects you,” she says. “But that’s what happens when you are sitting on a couch with friends.”

You hang out over there too? How do you enjoy he discourse?

I haven't spent much time there. When that "how many people left here and are over at the Coli" thread popped up, I found I had registered there before and forgot about it. I've checked in maybe 20 times.

I'm tempted to say "A thread like this wouldn't work there" but, hell, many times a thread like this doesn't work here. The Coli is worse in a distinct way in how worthless responses with only emojis drown out some conversation. That can substitute for discourse often enough that I don't ever see myself being a "community member" there. (Also, the volume there probably makes it harder to identify particular members or to be more than just another name.)

On the other hand, when I posted a "What's Your Comedy Special Mount Rushmore" thread here this week and got a bunch of "Where's Richard Pryor" replies for the audacity of my own top four consisting of specials that were actually produced in my lifetime, I posted the same thread there and got better feedback. I think that board might be less dogmatic because it's more generationally diverse and also harder for herds to form with the wider group of participation.

Overall, I should skim the surface there more because their much more robust membership produces a lot of conversation on topics that never come up here. I come here a lot more often out of habit but that board would probably be a better first option.
