(CNN)On Monday, the only full-time African American driver in NASCAR's Cup Series called for the auto racing body to ban Confederate flags from its events. Two days later, his dream came true.
"The presence of the Confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry," NASCAR said in a statement on its website hours ahead of its race Wednesday night in Martinsville, Virginia.
"Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the Confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties."
This week, driver Bubba Wallace told CNN's Don Lemon he wanted NASCAR to go further than 2015, when it asked fans not to bring the Confederate flags to races.

It just occurred to me, this is a smart move on NASCAR's part. They get to look like they're down for the cause all the while knowing there's no way in hell they can enforce that ban. As a matter of fact, there will be more traitor-loser flags than ever.
Not only is this guy perpetuating the stereotype of a NASCAR fan/racer with his terrible writing but he is also contradicting himself. He doesn't believe in kneeling but also believe in people's RIGHT to waive a flag. Willing to bet my left arm he doesn't believe others have the RIGHT to kneel either. And I can't even decipher what he is attempting to say with that last sentence

NASCAR has slowly been trying to shed their "down south good ol' boy' image for a while now.
It's why they pushed Jeff Gordon so hard when he was winning races all the time.
NASCAR ratings have been falling for a while now, maybe this will help them get more of a nationwide following.
The guy's a bottom-tier racer on the Truck circuit, he will hardly be missed.
