Yes, it means they, like all these grandstanding organizations, are trying to whitewash thier history. 2 generations from now no one will associate NASCAR with racist bigots.

For them to say you can no longer show your "pride" your "culture" here anymore is a big move.

It’s going to be hard for them to go back to the old norms. I think this is here to stay they need to get more people into their audience anyway....The current audience before the flag is dying off.

"The presence of the Confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry," NASCAR said in a statement on its website hours ahead of its race Wednesday night in Martinsville, Virginia.
"Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the Confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties."
This week, driver Bubba Wallace told CNN's Don Lemon he wanted NASCAR to go further than 2015, when it asked fans not to bring the Confederate flags to races.
