Bottoms

I've been meaning to watch this, because of the positive reviews. This and Strays are more appealing to me than The Nun 2.

It's a funny movie, probably the funniest movie I've seen this year. high school comedies though rare now, are normally solid.

It's a lesbian awkward teen coming of age movie. The two leads had good chemistry and were good with their comedic timing.

Marshawn Lynch continues to be a pleasant surprise with his acting. I thought he was just going to be a quick cameo, but he's in it throughout.

There's also a action scene that is actually pretty good and well thought out.

Thanks for the review and glad you liked it.

Been listening to the podcast reviews of late, and they enjoyed it too!

Listened to an interview with the director (or writer; can't recall their name) and she said Marshawn was fun to have on set & he took the role seriously. Making sure he was vibing well with co-stars.

Landscape with Invisible Hand

Aliens and Angst

PRAISE: I thought this was an interesting and enjoyable take on the alien invasion theme. The movie mainly focuses on a couple of families and how the invasion effects them financially as the aliens called Vuvv become more and more domineering pushing humans to ultra acts of desperation. The way the Vuvv look and communicate was interesting and funny. It was interesting to see how much domination and colonization the characters would put up with. Tiffany Haddish is pretty good in this and she also executive produced the film.
I thought the chemistry between Asante Blackk and Kylie Rogers was great. There's an all too brief appearance from William Jackson Harper. There are some very funny visuals and comedic moments. I thought the commentary on societal issues was pretty good.

PROBLEMS: The film starts to run out of steam in its last 30 minutes. I thought the great build up would lead to a more satisfying conclusion but it never reaches a completely satisfying enough point.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 7½

Women will never win awards. Not everyone is okay with non gendered identifications. Fuck trying to force every step of the rainbow flag down the throats of everyone.
