Equalizer 3

This was my favorite one. It was simple but effective.

Antoine Fuqua did a good job of displaying Italy's beauty. The pacing was also good. It never got dull.

Denzel and Dakota Fanning have excellent chemistry. It was cool seeing her again with him.

It's violent and earns its R.

You're really rooting for Robert McCall's peace along with the people of the town.

I was going to post something similar. The job at creating a reason for Robert McCall to keep living, which happened serendipitously because he got...that spoiler even happened.

From the city and the people. It was very well put together. I love Revenge movies. I can never get enough of them, especially if they're done right.

The Simplicity of this movie and the fact that what the bad guys are doing is done in many neighborhoods across the world makes it even more poignant. The only downside is there is no Robert McCall to protect these neighborhoods in real life sadly. Three and a half out of four stars

And I told my friend that old girl look like a prettier Alicia Keys and she agreed. Hopefully y'all don't see that as selling her short, she was gorgeous and I'm almost always team dark skin

Here's my Meg 2 review.

I watched it in fast-forward in 2 minutes.

I don't know any of the plot or storylines. Don't recall any of the characters' names from the first one.

I just gave it a quick look to check out the special effects and CGI.

On a scale of 1 to 10 ... I don't know. Again, I watched the full movie in 2 minutes.

Professional movie reviewer ... out.

The funny thing about it is that it's doing good internationally so there will be a third.

I was wondering the with the obvious Chinese involvement to make sure it got a release and promotion there, which gave it a cheat code, because it wasn't the movie itself.

I just hope with the third one they step the shit up and actually show the fucking sharks killing people with blood

Well said. Exactly - I remember the 1st movie being ok.

Then with this 2nd one it was seemingly just a cash grab from reviews from podcasts & BGOL fam'.

As you noted - with the eventual 3rd movie ... just put more effort into it & actually give the audience what they want!

PRAISE: Denzel Washington returns as Robert McCall who in part 3 of the series goes head to head with the Camorra a brutal Italian crime organization.
Not only does Washington return but is reunited with his former Co star from 19 years ago in the movie Man on Fire Dakota Fanning. I would have loved to been a fly on the wall for their on set conversations. Their scenes together and banter in this film brought a smile to my face.
Washington brings his flawless, quiet intensity to the role once again.
There was definitely a 2010 movie The American vibe throughout the movie which I really liked. The villains in the movie are ultra sadistic so the violence is intense and then some, and I'm definitely not saying McCall plays nice with them when he makes them worm food.
There are nice touches along the way linked to the characters portrayed by Gaia Scodellaro and Remo Girone .

PROBLEMS: While the crimes the criminals were carrying out were interesting and their methods were intense and unnerving they mainly came off generic.
How some things played out in the movie were basic and then some. I found a couple of story threads to be very predictable.

Scale of 1 to 10 an 8

The Brother from Another Planet
1984

8/10

This is a classic Independent Black Sci-Fi flick. I haven’t seen it since the late 80s and watched it last night with my sons for their first time on tubi.

It’s on other free streaming services also.

The film is overloaded with a lot of visual and in-jokes that life long New Yorkers will get. The film is still enjoyable if you are not a New Yorker.

There is basically nothing for VFX/SFX, it makes the movie more interesting because of that.

The film flows at a good pace. The only question I never could figure out was why he injected the drugs after he saw what it did to that Brotha who robbed him earlier.

The film is overloaded with well known actors from the 70s blaxploitation era and 80s films/tv shows.

For the militants, there is a WW with a bi-racial son.

For the Foot Fiends, there is some good shots of a WW feet/toes.

tubi has the official remastered copy. It has a prelude explaining the film’s preservation record for historical purposes.

I always interpreted that moment as a very strong metaphor for how anyone we know who STILL takes / tries drugs after seeing the effects destroy our friends families and community.

So even an alien cannot break the evil attraction and curiosity

But I've heard other interpretations

The Exorcist
1973

5.5/10

The new film is scheduled to debut later this month. So I decided to watch the first film this afternoon.

I saw it once back in the 80s on VHS and it never really impressed me or scare me. I pretty much forgot what the film is about and being the sequel looks interesting, I figured it’s best to get caught up.

The upcoming sequel is a continuation of the first film, the other films that came out after the 1973 is supposedly not tied in with this sequel.

MAX has the original remastered version. There is a 2000 extended directors cut out there, it’s not on MAX.

If you haven’t seen the first film in over 20 years, I highly recommend rewatching it. The opening scene is in Northern Iraq. If you just went “Huh?”…you need to rewatch it cuz I forgot it started that way.

The supernatural stuff starts in the opening scene and continues on when Linda Blair’s character appears at the 20 min mark.

Linda Blair was 14 years old during the filming of this film and did a pretty good job with the possession acting.

It’s pretty much a slow burn film, the possession stuff with Linda Blair kicks in for the last 45 minutes of the film which is 2 hours long.

The ending with the them getting the demon out was not as exciting as it could have been.

Overall, the film has the same flow as the first “The Omen” film with suspense. It’s an entertaining film for what it is.

Synopsis

One of the most profitable horror movies ever made, this tale of an exorcism is based loosely on actual events. When young Regan (Linda Blair) starts acting odd -- levitating, speaking in tongues -- her worried mother (Ellen Burstyn) seeks medical help, only to hit a dead end. A local priest (Jason Miller), however, thinks the girl may be seized by the devil. The priest makes a request to perform an exorcism, and the church sends in an expert (Max von Sydow) to help with the difficult job.

Lou
2022

6/10

This came up on my recommendations a few months ago. I watched it last night.

If you are familiar with the FX series “The Old Man”, this film is basically the female version. So if you are a certified InCell, you may not be interested.

The lead character is not over the top with what action she does. She has one fight scene that plays believable despite her age. The film takes place in the 1980s around the Iran -Contra scandal which is a sub-plot to the movie.

There isn’t much for action, it’s mainly a suspense thriller.

For the Militants, there is WM/BW interracial. Nothing is shown and they have a biracial daughter.

They left the film off for future sequels possibly giving more insight on the character Lou’s backstory.

Synopsis

A storm rages and a young girl is kidnapped. Her mother teams up with the mysterious woman next door to pursue the kidnapper. Together they embark on a journey that tests their limits and exposes shocking secrets from their pasts.

again I maintain that apparently EVER movie moment was horrible.

@Helico-pterFunk

Playa - I have only ever seen 5 mins of this movie on tv, and the infamous scene on youtube.

Is it worth watching some 30+ years later, lol?

I was in grade school back when it was released.

Heart of Stone
2023

5.5/10

New film starring Gal Gadot.

Not much to talk about cuz the plot has been done a zillion times since the 1980s.

Action is all the same as previous films like it. VFX/SFX is just more up to date.

Gal Gadot, she is the only reason to watch it. It defies logic on how fine looking this women is. Even withb hair/makeup trying to rough her up, the woman still looks Smashable.

Overall, this film is just Mindless entertainment. Don’t go into it expecting something spectacular with the plot.

Synopsis

Rachel Stone is an intelligence operative, the only woman who stands between her powerful global peacekeeping organization and the loss of its most valuable -- and dangerous -- asset.
