Mayans MC: Sons Of Anarchy Sequel

I’m giving it 3 more episodes... typically you can read a show around the 5th episode... you can tell if it’s going to take a turn..

Last nights episode was all over the place and extremely slow... almost put me to sleep.

It’s going to need mass improvement from tonight.

idk how long Miguel can last as head of the Galindo Cartel, especially since it looks like he doesn't have Romeo (Danny Trejo) and the military arm side holding it down now. That head of security they got Nestor doesn't seem like he can hold it down imo. Miguel almost seems like he wasnt groomed his whole life to take over the family business and more like he just got his MBA from Cornell and then unexpectedly took over the Galindo Cartel

Man they have got to change some things cause right now it’s boring as fuck. There is no character development. Ezee is the only one where they are showing some story.

So in episode one the scene in the cemetery was that Jax’s dad that was leading SANCRO? Who was the mother visiting in jail?

wow...I completely disagree.

I feel like Mayans is a mature SOA

SOA was a a video game and male soap opera

Mayans is more of a modern TV drama

I am trying ot keep Mayans SEPARATE form SOA cause I REALLY don;t WANT that again.

Sutter should be proud of himself

cause this is SOLID.

ESPECIALLY after the clusterf*ck of Bastard Executioner

which was Sutter thinking up a really cool name and telling FX execs that it was King Arthur meets SOA

but having NO idea what it was REALLY gonna be.

Thinks looks really well cast and planned out.

I'm enjoying the rides so far.

You can't get anymore soap opera than Mayans, the star of the show's exgirlfriend is now married to the Mob boss, he obviously is going to fuck the orphan's chic soon. The guy he was chasing (who probably killed his mother) when he shot the cop will probably turn out to be his brother or one of his club members.

Fourth episode...

Ok finally Mayans is getting interesting....

More shit about the border and illegal immigration

Less soap opera.

The crew needs a legit counter and this is the perfect show to bring up those crazy fuckers acting like vigilantes on the border.

Ok the show works much better when the MC’s story is running separate from the cartel..

Then sprinkle in drops to connect the two stories...

When the entire episode is just about the MC and the Cartel in one story then it ends up like a soap opera.

So far this is the best episode... there is momentum.

Still wish the show was better about the names... and made the club members stand out from each other in their personalities. Right now the head of the MC is just background.. they need to hurry and make Alvarez the main person in charge. Alvarez just has to much charisma and he is intimidating....

Oh shit that his daughter...

tattoo guy is the only one who is interesting and I still don’t know his name.

And damn his mom is brutal...

Hahahaha truck took off like a mutherfucker

Alvarez Cousin Bishop is definitely not an interesting President like a Clay, i mean first 4 eps Alvarez pretty much calls shots whenever he's down there, don't know how often he'll be coming down from Oakland during this series but I hope he'll be in most of the eps. Alvarez just a true G at 57 years old still running shit

It’s still a little slow...

And most of the characters don’t stand out but this was the best episode of the season.

I still think Mayans problem is that I was just such a fan of SamCro that I can’t help but compare Mayans to it.

I think if they just make Alvarez permanently in charge that would fix a lot of my complaints... you just need some in charge that has that it factor and Alverez already has built up history.. he went toe to toe with Clay and we know Alvarez is smart. Plus he just has that ... I’m cool now but I’ll slice your throat in a second thing about him.

The current club leader just doesn’t carry that type of IT factor about him. Hell I don’t even know the number 2 of the club... I don’t even know their names.

Theirs only one other member besides Easy that actually has some back story...

Like we are four episodes in and I still don’t know Jack shit about Easy brother... nothing to make me care about him. At this point... you can’t start dropping bits of character development into the other guys.

It’s the same problem that I had with the Bastard executioner... it looks great... it’s got an amazing cast.. it’s got a good story... but the character development is just not there... and without the development everything right now just seems like the Latin parody version of shit that we have seen in Sons of Anarchy.. even down to the kidnapped child.

Sons of anarchy... was carefull to always try and drop character moments in scenes to make people stand out.

Samcro had crazy ass muthafuckas in there like Tig and Happy, Clay was a more interesting President, even character like Bobby and Chibbs were more interesting

Exactly...

Like this show... has a great motivation.. you have a straight covert civil war going on within the club.. but it hasn’t taken the time to establish why I should care about the members risking their lives to help the rebels. Like give me a reason why they would do this... some scenes where they hesitate to kill a dude or carry out a order. They showed a little bit when Easy’s brother was disgusted at the torture of the civilian guy and this episode showed Old boys issues with his sister/ actual daughter.

But it’s not shown enough to give me motivation.

Plus I need some background on the club... what’s the hierarchy...

you know I was going to dispute your take...

but I thought about it and I completely understand where you coming from...

Its like Sutter is leaning WAY to much on the foundation laid already by SOA

and NOT giving the Mayans their OWN mythology or even BUILDING it.

hmmm...

I need to think on that some more.

@fonzerrillii

Ok let's just jump to that ending...

This is a go to scenario for these writers usually white.

The fight beating leading to sex scene

Its lazy at this point.

I think he can work into the Mayans. A lot of folks probably fresh of SOA on this one and looking for that type of fix.

Gemma wasn't Gemma overnight. I'll give this time.

I think because it was new and the same...

It was obviously a child of Sopranos and the Shield

but I think the Shakespearean twist with he biker gang adrenaline filled male soap opera...

was so damn unique.

I UNDERSTAND people's apprehension

but I am enjoying THIS version of the SOA universe.

writing wise-even though this overwhelmingly a soap so far- I can see the story should get much much darker

and there is obviously a reckoning coming this season in the club...

the actor playing the prez has the range to flip a switch and just GO - so I'm on board to see how they put this together- hopefully Sutter isn't burned out

agreed the "C;ay" of this club has a VERY slow burn as of yet

I hope there is a BIG pay off

The bones of greatness are here...

I think i figured out the problem... to many moving parts to early in the life of the show..

SOA worked cause the main crew started off small... you had time to see the main players and then the show slowly started adding in more characters and turning back ground actors to featured players.

This show has like 4 too many character. The main focus should be on Eezz, Angel and the side crew working with the rebels and then slowly build in the bigger crew. The cartel should be sprinkled in.

Like I don’t even know Angels issues with his dad.

exactly

why not let Easy's father history slowly playout?
why bring the fed pressure right away?
its too much with the ex married to the boss, and the insurgency in the mc and helping the rebels and Easy's brother in love with rebel leader and the kidnapping and now the mole hunt in the mc etc etc etc

It took SoA 3 seasons to bring that much bull shit

Those kids Adelita got are killers, she might have enough to take on Galindo Cartel in a straight up war lol.

Crazy ATF dude that was in SOA is back for Galindo.

And dam that trucker thought he was gonna get his dick sucked by Coco's daughter only to get screwdriver in the neck
