Mario Van Peebles Speaks on Spike & Tyler perry Beef

You know, I can dig that. I am getting some weird vibe from "it's defense of TP and "it's" tone in the replies. That's why I quit interacting with it in this thread. Something just ain't right :smh::smh:

you stopped interacting because your points are bullshit and you can't defend them properly against "it"..:rolleyes: and like the other dude you both got frustrated and resorted to name calling...
:smh::smh::smh:

good stay out the thread if you can't debate like adults..

next....:lol:

can tell from your posts that u don't know sheit about how a movie gets green lit and made. and after u make it comes the distribution. then the marketing. then the promoting, etc.

and let's say a $30 million film paid for by black folks gets made with nuthin but black dollars. how do you plan to have it shown and get a chance to recoup your investment? black folks don't own nationwide distribution companies. there are THOUSANDS of film production companies in existance. only a few studios. why u think you see the same studios showing different films in all the theaters around the country? they got that sheit on LOCK. film distribution in theater chains is on LOCK.

only a dumb fuk would sugget that black folks risk their own personal wealth by making films. white folks don't do that sheit. studio exes don't use their own money. they use THE COMPANY'S money. and where do the company's get their loot? big bank loans and lines of credit.

tyler perry found his niche and used it to get to where he is. more power to him. i don't like his films. but i don't hate on the brother either. but still most serious thinkers already know that if his brand of humor and film making involved topics that questioned traditional social or economic class settings or any type of revolution, you would NOT see his sheit all over america, no matter how many black folks bought his self-made flicks in beauty shops or in play houses. people say 'oh, he catered to the black audience and got started renting out the playhouses himself. he went to where black people liked to go and sold his stuff there in such large quantities and got so 'hood famous' that hollywood took notice'.

they took notice of the numbers and THEN took notice of the content. his content was deemed safe and that was that

While I agree with most of what you posted..I would question the bold..

if thats true then how do you explain spike lee's career? becuz he came out questioning the status quo and being in your face. Also MVP and John Singleton aren't exactly shrinking violets when it comes to social commentary and calling out white society either.

If the bold is true then none of those men would have careers in the industry.
