Every comic aint your cup of tea, hence they are not funny to you, no different that not all music & musicians you are gonna feel, hence they music is wack to you. There’s nothing “Fake” about not laughing at something and voicing your opinion. When something is very popular, there’ll be many who’ll check it out to see what the hype’s about. If they’re not satisfied with their experience and don’t feel the same way as those who hyped it up, then those people are more likely to voice their opinion and it’ll most likely be negative.
Yeah i get all that but when i say fake i'm talking about the fakeness in KH ain't been holding it down. Very few comedians in this modern age can compete with their younger selves. Dave Chappelle can't, chris rock can't, Deon cole can't, Martin, Steve, DL can't Even Richard Pryor could not. My point is, when your hungry you go harder than when you are enjoying the trapping of you success. It's hard to be funny when people are expecting you to come with that rawness when they know you ain't in the same space. Case in point. Eddie Murphy Delirious and Raw. EM was in two different spaces and admitted over and over again. Delirious was funny and edgy, Raw, was more polished and about his experienced post delirious. for all the talk of Eddie, he only did two filmed comedy specials.
Trust me I hear you! But with comedy, you’re generally expected to get better the older you get. Eddie excluded because he hasn’t done it in 30+ years.
I guess it all depends on the comedian because many would say Dave’s getting better with age. But he’s not the same as the others .
Another factor is the older people get, what they find funny changes. There’s so many factors with what people find funny and as always, comedy’s subjective.
Kevin and his people came up with that special and they think it’s funny, and some fans don’t. It happens.
Again, a lot of it has to do with popularity. Seinfeld got paid 20+ million dollars for his Netflix special. He’s one of the top\highest paid comedians in the world. If many looked at the special to see what the hype’s about, some maybe disappointed.
I actually like raw better than delirious.. in fact raw is my fave standup comedy.. 33 Yrs later most of his commentary stands still true to this day

From what I’ve seen from Kevin he talks about his life and not Black or social issues. I didn’t see him changing that up, also most probably don’t want to hear that from him because that’s it his comedic voice.
He talks about the same stuff he’s always talked about in my opinion.

I watched the whole thing to make sure I gave it a chance. I chuckled once but didn’t laugh. I don’t laugh at a lot of stuff so don’t judge it based off of me.
The other day I also went to watch the Jerry Seinfeld special from earlier this year. I didn’t laugh either but I got his comedic angle.

I love this thread, because as a standup comic myself I understand where y'all coming from. I do feel like people expect every black comic to talk about social issues and it's just not that way. Kevin is a corporate entity to me. Extremely funny in his own way, but he won't venture in to the lane of real hardcore shit. It's just not him and that is fine. But that man pre-covid can fill a 60k seat stadium and there's not too many comics that can do that.
It's like music. Some days I want to listen to introspective deep shit and some days I want to hear strip club music. Doesn't make one better than the other. If you want deep shit, listen to Chappelle.

It is, you may not want to think his comedy is safe.... but it is. He's so likeable/small/safe that you laugh. Kevin is non threatening on stage and his entire act is based on being a husband/father. It works for him and I've always been a fan of his work because he stays in his lane.
