And that says a lot. Many black rock musicians like Nona Hendryx, Malina Moye, Betty Davis, Death, David Ryan Harris, and even Jimi Hendrix and Funkadelic have never gotten any exposure from black media. I have been in radio for 30 years and I always made it my mission to play this music.
True story: Ten years ago I got picked up by KTSU 90.9 FM Houston. I lasted three shows. You know why? I played Betty Davis and Eddie Hazel on the air one Friday morning. Phone lines were blowing up and listeners were loving the music. After my shift, I got called in the office. Music director said I was “too much to the left and stick to the hits.”
I got let go because I played black rock on a black radio station.

I like most of his early albums, but that shit was not playing on the Source HIP HOP awards. I swear rich Black people sometimes say the most out of touch, ignorant shit to destroy any chance at Black cohesion.
