Laser Hair Removal

Well I'm seriously thinking about doing this shit. Got an consultation appointment coming up Thursday. I know we got a guy here King of post who had it done. I just wanted to let you guys that are interested about it know of a forum dedicated to this.

It's called: http://www.hairtell.com/forum. There is some more info you can get from there. It seems that a few people on there are electrologists trying to get you to come over to their side if you want to go that route. A chick named LAgirl seems to know all about laser stuff so look out for her she posts a lot over there pretty much answering all laser questions.

The one thing it seems that they all agree on about laser hair removal is that it HURTS!!!! They say pain is a good sign it's working or your getting burnt the fuck up. No pain means the settings may be too low.
Check this man out.

Like I said I have an appointment Thursday so if there are any questions you want me to ask drop them in here.

if you are going to get it done make sure the person who is doing it has the laser that is designed for black skin in their office.

Congrats on taking the plunge. Some people just can't shave with anything! As was the case with me. No "special" technique like hot towels, hot showers, no special brush shaving cream applicator, going with or against the grain, no skin tight/tend skin/bump fighter type shit, special blades (bump fighter), special shaving creams/oils, no electric razor, magic shave/depilatory, no straight razor, NONE OF THAT SHIT!!! Not even Andis really.

Feels good to have all your facial skin be the SAME COLOR and completely bump free, fuck the bullshit and that "phantom" beard nonsense.

Make sure they use a YAG laser. If they don't have one, LEAVE!

Already was on top of that. The place that I'm checking out first has a GentleYag laser.

ok, that's what's up. They'll likely do a souple "spot tests" with the laser to see how your skin reacts. They won't hurt....but it could be another thing once they do the actual procedure.

Yeah it'll hurt, but you are killing hair follicles

I.m form the UK, for years I tried to find cures for my razor bumps. I tried everything with no success.

I read about laser hair removal, found a place in my city that specialized in black skin ( very important that they used a laser for black skin)

The pain is not that bad, it like a pin prick,

I have a bout 12 treament over the past 2 years, and my skin is smooth, it was well woth the money. I am happy with my results

Every year or so I will have two treatment if I see hair starting to grow back.

Sounds good. Your touch ups are only due to hormonal changes. Dead follicles will NEVER grow hair back. But over time, hair can grow in NEW places. WHen a follicle is gone, it is gone. Had to get that out there before niggas run up in here talking about it isn't permanent not knowing what they are talking about.

^^^ Interesting thing that I read at that hair forum is that it seems all over there pretty much have said that if you wanted to get rid of your hair permanently you would have to switch to an electrologist. From my understanding that the hair will become so fine like the hair on your arms that the laser will not be able to work anymore. You need to have dense and coarse hair right?

I would be satisfied if my results end up with me shaving once a week and all the hair on my face becomes fine straight hair to stop these ingrown.

Ok had went in yesterday to get info and got a spot under my chin tested. It didn't really hurt at all, so I think we will have to up the power some.

My only problem is when I asked her how long she has been doing this she told me she has been with the company since December.

King of Post or any other guys who have done this:
Do you guys know what settings your laser treatment were? Spot size, joules, pulse width.

so you cool with not being able to grow a beard?

:lol:O fuck yeah. I'm keeping my mustache(hair doesn't really grow there) and the hair on my chin. Not being able to grow a good mustache(which is bullshit) and the ingrown hairs is a good enough reason for me to rid of this shit.

Can you guys give me a ball park figure of how much you paided:for the test and before you start the laser proccess?,and the whole proccess?

Thanks

Well my is going to cost about $100 per treatment. $50 for sides of face and $50 for neck. I would have gotten charged $50 extra if I did my mustache area. You will do about 6-12 treatments total. I would guess we would do at least 10 treatments for you to really see great results.

Guys that had this done did all the hair fall out during the shedding process? The place I went to are saying if I want free touch up I have to come back in the two weeks after treatment.

The folks at the hair forum I posted in the 1st post are saying 3 weeks is when it should happen. Also when did you guys shave 1, 2, or 3 days before your treatment? I'm getting different answer from the place I went to and the experts on the hair forum I go to.

Ok just had my first treatment done. I survived. Got the sides and a little under my chin done for $100. She had the 18mm spot size so it hit a lot compared to other lasers.

Man I went in there she was like "hey dude you ready for this?"
She told me to lay down and went in the cabinet pulled out a stress ball and tossed that bitch to me letting me know that this shit just got real.

Yea it hurt, but not too bad didn't have to clench the ball at all but eyes did water up. Now with each session she will have to up the settings so yeah shit will get worse I think. Just know the more coarse your hair is the more pain you will feel. Around my chin on the sides hurt like fuck but under I didn't really feel shit.

I will keep you updated on my progress for those debating on doing this too.

OK well its been over a week now. Still waiting on the "shedding" process to complete.

I would suggest to do this shit man. With just this one session I had I can already see and feel the improvement on my face. That itching feeling you get the next day after shaving has not happen to me yet. I have not had to use my tweezers at all. No ingrown bumps nothin.

If you scared of your face getting burnt up like I was before I did this don't worry. I just can't see that happening on the yag laser. Shit I feel like I could do the treatment for you. Only problem I see with this is getting your money's worth. I can see some places treat people with low settings so they will have to keep coming and spend that cash.

Oh yeah my test spot is still hairless.

did you get your whole face......or just a goatee/chinstrap.....

Wow, didn't know niggas was hip to this. Niggas is so homophobic about anything remotely perceived as feminine. But, this brings up an interesting question: is laser hair removal considered metro-sexual, like getting your feet & finger nails done? :dunno:

Nope b/c I and I'm sure most are not doing this for looks. I'm tired of buying tendskin that is not working, tired of having to use tweezers everyday, and tired of a new scar on my face when I just got rid of one.

I get painful ingrown hairs. The hairs that never even break through my skin so I have to dig in my skin to get it out. When I do the hairs be long as shit:eek:
I can't even do close shave anymore, and I still get ingrown hairs.

Only having to shave like 1-2 times a month would be tight as shit that is why I don't think I will do the 12 treatments or more. I'm going to do just enough to stop the ingrown hairs(at least 6).

You still have to shave???? I thought there wouldnt be a need to shave once you get the treatment done.

Yea you do. The hair forum I go to call it the "shedding process." For like 2 to 4 weeks you will still have hair but that hair is shedding. At some point the hair will just fall out and you will be in the hairless stage for awhile not sure how long. My hair also seems to not grow as fast as it did.

Man I got my test spot about a month ago and in 2 weeks the hair just fell out and when I pulled at it the hair came out with no fight. The spot has been hairless for about 3 weeks and I still see no sign of hair coming in.

Some people use scrubs and other things to speed up the shedding process.

So then you will always need the laser removal treatment every so often...? It's not a permanent thing...?

Before you do that.. I got a secret I figured out years ago..

Instead of shaving cream, use hair conditioner.. TRUST me, it works. (do it in the shower preferably)

From the info from the hair forum I go to it seems that you will get to a point where your hair will be too fine for the laser to work, I'm thinking like the hair on your arm(I understand some niggas are hairy as fuck though). At that point you will need to go to an electrologist to get it completely removed.

After doing 6+ treatment it seems your hair will hardly ever grow but with age, your new cycle of hair will come in but it won't be like the hair you have now. It wont be that coarse hair we have. That is what im getting from the info provided.

You guys should go lurk around that forum on my first post and get more info. They got expert and people who perform this stuff on there.

King Of Post you care to share your thoughts since you have a lot more experience in this?

sounds like a good plan. I mean I have the same mustache issue but other than that razor bumps are a bitch. I use "bump patrol" (i know stupid name) to take care of razor bumps after i cut my beard with the clipper (a black man and a razor arent always good friends. Does this work on hairlines. If you could go to the barber get a good ass cut and then let them remove the hair once they start growing back, would that be possible?

I don't see why not. I personally think you would be wasting time with the hairline though. I don't know how old you are but it seems most people hairline seem to creep back even if its just a little creep. And you would waste all that money on the treatments for it. Now if you were trying to rock the bald head it would be right. Watching video in the waiting room on bald headed dudes getting it done seems perfect for them.

nah i'm not that old. I was just saying along the line of looking professional and not having it cut into time that i could be doing other things. I cut hair and my own as well just to save money from barbers. I'm not trying to do it for good but if it take a few weeks hell months for the hair to actually grow back, that's worth the investment for the time being.

Somthing I just remembered.

Before the board upgrade and deleted posts, the member DiamondDuece if I can remember correctly said something about his Dermatologist getting it so his insurance could cover his laser treatment. That's something you should look into. I don't think I could b/c the one I go to here just kept giving me bullshit creams and stuff. I didn't even fuck with the Dermatologist I went str8 to the hair removal spot.

My hair shit is right on schedule. My shit is starting to fall out now. I'm doing what the hair forum said which is let it fall out on its own and don't pull them out. Going to wash my face with face scrub to speed it up. Only thing is my face is patchy right now since some hair is falling out faster than the others.

That something you will have to watch out for with your laser tech, they might miss some spots on your face.
