KC or 49ers....????

Patrick Mahomes' last-minute kneel-downs cost many bettors

The over/under on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' rushing yards in Super Bowl LIV was one of the most popular prop bets offered at sportsbooks around the nation, and it went down to the final possession.

Mahomes' over/under rushing yards opened as low as 27.5 and was bet up to as high 36.5. Mahomes had 44 yards entering Kansas City's final possession. With the Chiefs leading 31-20 and 57 seconds remaining, Mahomes kneeled on three straight plays, losing 15 yards. He finished with 29 yards rushing, a costly outcome for bettors.

"That was close to a six-figure swing [in favor of the house]," said Jeff Davis, director of trading for Caesars Sportsbook.

Out of the hundreds of proposition wagers offered by William Hill U.S. sportsbooks, more money was bet on the over on Mahomes' rushing yards than was bet on any other market. Seventy-five percent of the bets and 68% of the money wagered on prop was on the over.

Sportsbook PointsBet said there more than twice as much money bet on the over on Mahomes' rushing yards as was bet on the under. "[It] cost bettors for sure," Patrick Eichner, communications director for PointsBet, told ESPN on Sunday.

PointsBet elected to refund all bets on Mahomes over 30.5 rushing yards, saying on Twitter that "if there's been a worse beat on a prop than this one, feel free to let us know!"

Earlier in the week, FanDuel also reported lopsided action on the over on Mahomes' rushing yards. "We've taken a hell of a lot of bets on that market," John Sheeran, director of trading for FanDuel, told ESPN on Friday. "In fact, our handle is nearly three times as much as what's bet on his passing yards, which is really interesting."

The Chiefs rallied from a 20-10 deficit in the fourth quarter for a 31-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers, covering the 1.5-point spread in a game that stayed under the total.

Sportsbooks were reporting big wins from the game. Davis of Caesars called the outcome a "monster" for his book.

Niners need to trade Jimmy ASAP, while he still has value. No way the 49ers win superbowl with him. This 49ers team is like KC with Alex Smith (Good to great at most positions on off and def, but ? at QB).

Tom Brady or Philip Rivers are better options than Jimmy G next season.
Not Rivers

Everybody in here knows NONE of those calls against San Francisco would have happened in Dome but I ain't saying nuthin'. San Francisco out their crying for a call. You're playing KC, not the Saints.

The agony of defeat....

Revis is a savage! :lol2:

Kyle did it again...

Jimmy G. is ass under pressure. Couldn't complete a pass when it mattered on 3rd downs. Feet weren't set at times. That pressure and players putting hands up in his passing lane tipping his passes made all the difference. He has issues completing passes past 25 yards accurately and consistently when necessary, which is why I think Kyle doesn't or didn't open up the route tree. I like watching QBs like him get tons of praise and fail when they are required to deliver. The real shall prevail.

Wow
I didn't watch, but I'm hearing it was that bad huh?
Was it like pass after pass after pass?

I don't understand why ppl coming for Sherman when he played a good game got beat a few times but every corner on each team got beat a few times it's the super bowl which means u playing the best of the best

Congrats Chiefs, 49'rs are a historic team but have bad karma for shitting on Kaepernick, now 24 year old black quarterbacks are handling them on the world stage, Mahome recovered well under pressure even after several mistakes...

Fuck all these commercials, 49r's need to do the right thing and hire Kaep back....

 I kno' ...never gonna happen. :smh:

Wow.

He has made some mistakes but I think he's good on the whole. What in the last ten years merits such vitriol?
I once thought he was good on a whole as well. You know where I'm from. I've had a front row seat of his act for over 40 years. Even had the displeasure of being in the same room with him on more than one occasion. I find the guy to be a pretentious snob overall.

bruh i told y`all in championship game even before Revis tweeted tht shit...

Sherman looked slow as fuck ...he must b hurt ...or jus done...

either way KC was beat ...

Sherman is a hall of Famer but he's washed...torn Achilles didn't help but on top of that he's getting too old to run with these young guns.....nigga need to move to saftey and 9ers need to get some legit corners.

I’m not saying that the NFL doesn’t say not to mention Kap’s name, but that’s reaching.

It's not though. I saw a breakdown of the commenting and they do get a list of things they aren't supposed to discuss and things they should talk about it. I'm absolutely positive they have a "don't discuss" tag on Kap.

Probably has some good years at safety if he moved to that position. At corner his age is starting to show and his decline is moving faster and faster. In zone he is still good but when asked to play man he can get beat

You might be right,. My point is, why did they need to talk about Kap last night?

Yeah. I think he got beat twice. He didn't have a bad game.

Last time the 49ers were in the Super Bowl, Kap was the QB. And they lost a close one just like this, right at the end...usually they spend a lot of time talking about the parallels and they start talking about the possibility when the game tightens up at the end.

in the NFC title game, mostert broke Kap's playoff rushing record and they didnt even mention it and the NFL never misses an opportunity to talk up a record being broken
