Utter Bullshit.

I've read this whole thread.
Exiledking was arguing that Kapernick's protest did not
MEASURE UP to what was done at the Olympics.
He pretty much claimed the whole GQ article/recognition was all
'couture activism'.... perpetuated by a
'Civil Rights Industry'.
And he even cited John Carlos, by name.

In a (no-so-slick) effort to DIMINISH the whole point/purpose of Kap's protest.
But here we see PROOF that John Carlos is totally on Kap's side... in all of this. (He even 'admires' him for taking a stand

)
So now does John Carlos admire.... 'couture activism'?

Hmm?
The whole discussion of showing 'documents that changed the laws' was never the main crux of his argument.

At all.
That's just 'moving the goalpost'..... to redirect the conversation... after being proven wrong about the original points of discussion.
Ummm btw... what 'laws got changed'... as a direct result of John Carlos raising a black fist at the Olympics? Do tell.
You (and he) cannot have it both ways.
Kapernick taking a knee cannot be a 'fake protest' that doesn't measure up... because it was supposed to 'change some laws'........... meanwhile John Carlos' protest was 'the real deal'.... yet it didn't change any laws either.
Go sell that nonsense somewhere else.
These guys are athletes.... who took a stand. They don't write laws. And get them passed through Congress. So your expectation of 'what should happen as the end result'... doesn't match up to the 'symbolism of the moment'.
The whole purpose is to 'bring attention' to an issue, which generates serious discussion... If they both did that... then mission accomplished.
Ya'll out here expecting these dudes to take a stand.... sacrifice everything... change the laws on the books... score touchdowns... break Olympic records... repair the entire black community... donate to charity... start programs in the inner city... and do all kinds of shit... SINGLEHANDEDLY.... both on & off the field... all at the same damn time.... otherwise its just bullshit. C'mon son.
