Kaepernick is GQ's citizen of the year and cover story

SMH. We could have done that several replies back. My initial comment on the subject was that it was still here, just more refined. So I said from the beginning it was more subtle.
And I Still disagree that it's still here just more refined.

The point which it is THIS refined, I don't think you could even call it by the same name anymore. I'd rather is just take it none issue at a time at that point. My apologies for asking you to break it down further because that took us off track.

Cacs down here in Houston HEATED

They feel their boy JJ Watt should have got the award since he raised $37 million for hurricane relief

^^ Great post.

This completely shuts down everything that Exiledking was yapping about in this thread.

Where you at Exiled? :hmm: You were saying?? :hmm:

You still dont get what he has been telling you.

Post the documents of changed laws that benefited from either stance...

Until then its all bullshit
Utter Bullshit. :hmm: I've read this whole thread.

Exiledking was arguing that Kapernick's protest did not MEASURE UP to what was done at the Olympics.
He pretty much claimed the whole GQ article/recognition was all 'couture activism'.... perpetuated by a 'Civil Rights Industry'. :hmm:

And he even cited John Carlos, by name. In a (no-so-slick) effort to DIMINISH the whole point/purpose of Kap's protest.

But here we see PROOF that John Carlos is totally on Kap's side... in all of this. (He even 'admires' him for taking a stand )
So now does John Carlos admire.... 'couture activism'? Hmm?

The whole discussion of showing 'documents that changed the laws' was never the main crux of his argument. :smh: At all.
That's just 'moving the goalpost'..... to redirect the conversation... after being proven wrong about the original points of discussion.

Ummm btw... what 'laws got changed'... as a direct result of John Carlos raising a black fist at the Olympics? Do tell.

You (and he) cannot have it both ways. :smh:

Kapernick taking a knee cannot be a 'fake protest' that doesn't measure up... because it was supposed to 'change some laws'........... meanwhile John Carlos' protest was 'the real deal'.... yet it didn't change any laws either.

Go sell that nonsense somewhere else. :hmm:

These guys are athletes.... who took a stand. They don't write laws. And get them passed through Congress. So your expectation of 'what should happen as the end result'... doesn't match up to the 'symbolism of the moment'.

The whole purpose is to 'bring attention' to an issue, which generates serious discussion... If they both did that... then mission accomplished.

Ya'll out here expecting these dudes to take a stand.... sacrifice everything... change the laws on the books... score touchdowns... break Olympic records... repair the entire black community... donate to charity... start programs in the inner city... and do all kinds of shit... SINGLEHANDEDLY.... both on & off the field... all at the same damn time.... otherwise its just bullshit. C'mon son.

Congratulations. You just said the same thing I said about a Couple pages ago
Lemme help you out....

The big difference between what you said... and what I said... is simply this....

You have (or had) an EXPECTATION that the protests... should help change laws immediately.... just to be deemed even 'relevant', in your opinion.
And if these types of protests DON'T change any laws.... then it's all just bullshit (in your words)... which you disguise in right-wing 'talking points'. :hmm:

So your intentions are highly disingenuous. :hmm:

Because you view these protests as... an 'all or nothing'.... type of gambit.
And that's because you display a massive... "if the laws don't change, then why even bother?".... type of attitude.
Which you then trot out even more 'right-wing talking points' to support & dig yourself deeper in a hole.

(Which is EXACTLY what World B Free called your 'Do Nothing' mentality. He was dead-on in his assessment.)

However, I see Kap's protest as a way of 'bringing attention to an important issue'... so it can be addressed seriously.... by serious people.

Hence, his 'effort' is not meaningless. :hmm: And it shouldn't be diminished just because a bunch of White Congressmen didn't jump off their couches & start 'drafting bills' immediately... as soon as they saw him 'take a knee' on television. :hmm:

Bottom line, you were DEAD WRONG about Kap's actions not measuring up to John Carlos's actions... so now you have decided to shift your whole argument to focus more on.... 'how the laws of the land were affected'. :hmm: Pligga Nease.

Again from 1968 til now...black people are still suffering.

Pics taken then and pics taken now...

The circle just became bigger but you see we always end up at the same place over and over...30 years from now another young black athlete will do the same thing.

Black athletes are the only blacks on the planet with that type of reach....

Black Super humans are always exploited...go look at history
