Juicing/Smoothie thread

Jesus, whatever you do, don't follow this. :smh:
Follow it and he might break that plateau, instead of drinking it down with all of those fruits that are packed with sugar. You're mind will play tricks on you,you will be juicing all green shit for two months telling yourself you notice a difference when in reality there is none.

I just point out things, there is no right or wrong to what you do,especially if it's working for you and you're satisfied .

No one can't say I'm wrong, because you're either drinking your calories down in a shake or drinking awhole lot of green shit that's not going to do nothing for you but the idea of being healthy out weights all of that because for some this is a start and you will learn, like I did.

lol Moss Munchers

Man I was 287 DOWN TO 193 Took years for me to research and understand what I needed to do but Im better now as a result. That cheap ass juicer I bought just broke. Gonna buy a better one but in the mean time gonna do a switch in a lil bit here and buy another lol

Damn don't even have to cut the rind on a pineapple :eek2:

Juicing waste a lot of the fruit and veggies.

When I put pineapple in the vitamix I put the core in also. They claim there are lots of nutrients in that part.

You will love that vitamix. A tip I don’t I don’t put ice in my smoothies I use frozen fruits keeps the smoothies from being watered down

Good point. A mistake that many people make is putting a bunch of ice cubes in smoothies/drinks. Frozen-watering it down.

If you cats looking to buy a vitamix check out hsn or qvc they were on sale and with value pay it still cost but it broken up 4 or 5 months

and it does get expensive i think we are avg 60 a week in produce to make this daily since this substitutes drinking regular juice / soda, etc....

I use Vanilla or strawberry yogurt, frozen or fresh fruit, ginger, cinnamon and a lil bit of orange juice. My kids love it but its not for a health or meal replacement, just a snack, about once a week.

I have the Ninja Smart screen with freshvac, $129 at Amazon. The freshvac is not good for yogurt though, worked great the first few times but now it sucks the yogurt through and makes a mess..

You On it D. I'm getting a juicer just like urs next week. Do you guys buy whatever is on sale or like me try to buy only organic?

As has been pointed out, there can be a LOT of calories in smoothies. I'd suggest using water and not any type of milk. Also, not too much. An 8oz smoothie is all you need to get nutrients and vitamins if the smoothie has the proper ingredients - a banana, couple slices of pineapple, handful of spinach or kale, a tablespoon of fresh ginger, 1 or 2 tablespoons of flaxseed, 2 tablespoons of RAW honey, some Green Vibrance and that's it.
Green Vibrance is about the cheapest, most effective probiotic you'll find. Getting a probiotic (and flaxseed) in you is a great way to get and stay healthy.

I'm bumping this thread since I've started the juicing journey today.

Thanks to all that have posted ingredients, recipes with portions, etc.

While I'm certain this will be a challenge initially, I will do my best to stick with it and see it through.

One of the best things about smoothies/juicing too is that you know exactly what's going into your drinks (compared to store-bought stuff). So for instance if you buy too much produce and the fruits/veggies are ripening/aging too quickly, just make sure to use them up in your drinks/blends (and not have to worry about things going bad too quickly). An example would be spinach locally. It has been priced right for a number of months (0.79 - 1.19 per bundle), and my grocery store has a points program (updated weekly) which equates to them giving you $0.20 back per $1 spent on spinach (and some 18 - 24 other items) regularly. So I've been buying more spinach, adding it to more smoothies & the rest to toasted sandwiches or wraps.

The aforementioned points program ^ often gives me points back on peppers, oranges, bananas, tomatoes too. I mostly get the points back on oranges & bananas.
