I knw we have an investment thread, but do we have one that provides you with the information to teach yourself the basics?
what do you use & how did you learn?

Open up an account with Robinhood and buy one share of Ford stock. Ford is currently around $10 a share so you wont be risking much. That should give you and idea of how easy it is.

Wasn't Ford $10 in 1999:roflmao: The closing price for Ford Motor (F) in 1999 was $11.99, on December 31, 1999. It was down 5.9% for the year.

First question, what's your goal? Learn how to buy and trade stocks, ok. Why? Just 'cause? Apps make it too easy to do that. What's your risk appetite? Are you a long term investor? Day trader? Swing trader? Honestly, would say that investing thread is your best bet. Lots of resources there. For long term investing, I would check r/Bogleheads on reddit. It's not sexy or flashy, but it's consistent.

OR

You could always paper trade. Pick some companies that you use on a day-to-day basis. Faux trade em. Follow them, see what news moves them up/down. Allows you to get your feet wet without losing (or gaining) any money.

After you learn the basics, you'll need to practice like @Aww Skeet Skeet! said. When you start using real money you'll quickly find out that impulse decisions can be costly. Don't put in any money that you cant afford to lose.

Robinhood has the best new user interface in the game, but it doesnt have paper trading (practice trading). Webull is my favorite, and it offers paper trading.
