Joss Whedon to Direct a Standalone Batgirl Movie

Holy sh*t

I think this may be the first misstep for the new regime

I don't think you needed to say this publicly

True or not

Cause I don't think that young woman, the directors and everyone else involved deserved that or gonna respond well

We will see.

But I respect his APPARENT honesty

With a budget of between 90 - 100 Million, "BATGIRL" would have easily made its money back. You have 2 Moroccan Directors who came off "BAD BOYS FOR LIFE", which made at least four times its budget back. Along with a rising star Afro-Latina.

Instead, WB and Zaslav began a negative campaign on that film. Coming up with all sorts of WHITE Excuses not to release it. Putting more faith in a way more problematic Production, with an even more problematic WHITE Actor. Throwing even more money times the entire budget of "BATGIRL".

Play Stupid WHITE Games.
Win Stupid Prizes.

They should have rolled the Lead Actor dice with Grant Gustin.nI truly believe Gustin (and Co.) would have survived the TV - Film Transition.
Though "THE FLASH" as a TV has sucked most of the time. Gustin and that Cast are absolutely beloved. And a known quantity. They deserved a Film Transition.

Yeah.
"THE FLASH" Movie deserved to flop.

Storm Shadow gonna kill me

But in my heart?

I completely agree with you

Also those directors were coming of Ms Marvel on Disney + and Brandon Frasier was the Hollywood darling....

Publicity wise?

It was set

To be clear I have no idea if it truly was a shitshow or not.

But we gonna act like DC ain't released shit movies before? With a bigger budget?

They should have just released it being it was going straight to HBO MAX.

The film was already paid for cuz of subscription customers.

Yup yup

That tax break to me wasn't significant enough. Especially after the previous regime had dropped 50 million on the Snyder cut.

Of course this is assuming the movie wasn't completely horrid

Which for so reason?

I don't believe it was.

Your post brings up another great point.
One can say that one of the many reasons people subscribed to HBOMax was in anticipation of "BATGIRL"?
Because as you stated, (much of) that film was already paid for via subcriptions.
And many of those subcribers are DC Comics fan anticipating DC content.
