The last court case/settlement cosby dealt with was in 2005, there was no twitter or youtube and facebook was in its infancy. No one used myspace for news info. Today all those sites exist and stories can take on a life of their own outside of traditional media. Before in order for a story to blow up it required a number of major news outlets picking up on it and running it. Now news is driven by social media. Something going viral on youtube or twitter or facebook can draw more attention than old news outlets.
