It's never too Late for a BLACK MAN to go to COLLEGE

This is definitly true....my late grandfather, an assistant principle, really a principle but thats another subject ( who helped Desegregate Mobile county schools) always told me "I went to school until I was 65...You have no excuse not to keep on going"

"I kept going to school becuase I had to stay one step ahead of them white folks so I took every education class the university of Alabama offered."

I was glad to get my Degree before he passed and definitly plan on returning for grad schol this year.:wepraise:

I wanted to go to Morehouse coming out of high school but couldn't afford it.

Went to a state school & have less than 1 full year left for my engineering degree.

Now I live in Atlanta and could potentially pay for myself to go to Morehouse out of pocket.

That is the goal for the next 3 years.

Why would you make life more difficult than it need be???
Go here and get the degree

I'm not trying to come at your neck... but it dissapoints me when I hear people say "I don't have my degree because I'm trying to go to so and so specific unieversity". :dunno:

Just get the piece of paper!

Look at it this way. All my returning students who have worked in the world before going or returning back to school have ONE MASSIVE ADVANTAGE------EXPERIENCE !!!!-------:dance::dance::dance:

Once you get out...add that to the degree list and boom

Make it happen :dance::dance::dance:

So how did you guys go about choosing what field you wanted to get into?

Was it all about the money or was it passion? Both?

I see alot of folks living it up in the engineering fields...But I completely hate math and science so that's definitely not for me.

Finished mine at 27 and it immediately changed my situation at work.

The thing is that, nobody asked to see the degree (I did get it) -- I just got the promotion because I said I finished.

I don't look at the world as black vs white so much as the rich directing the rest and protecting what they have.

He that controls natural (and other) resources and the means of production is in charge. The governmental and social systems we live with were created to protect the current managers of resources and production.

School helped me to figure out where I could fit in on the food chain. It helped to provide some clarity.

On the real, SPSU has an electro mechanical engineering (not technology) program that I'm eyeing if I stay in GA. This past year they started up full mechanical, electrical, civil and systems engineering programs that are NIGHT school so you can work during the day. The electro-mechanical is open now and they're spooling up the other programs. Don't wait. I'm at GPC right now re-learning everything I've lost in the 10 years since I started the first time.

There is no such thing as too much education. Black people, we owe it to ourselves. Bump for education.

its never too late for a white person, asian person, hispanic person or any other color or creed for that matter to go to college to better yourself.

never say never, I completed my two year degree at the 21, this was due to me flunking out of my first attempt at a 4 year college after high school.

I still was able to break into my dream field and worked my butt off to move up.. I then went back to school at 28 to finish the other half of my 2 years to complete my bachelors. My education goal was to obtain a masters, to which I completed my first masters about 2 years after my bachelors and I am currently 2 classes away from completing my 2nd masters degree.

So no excuses I did all that while holding down a family, helping a family and working 2 jobs at times. It is a great feeling of accomplishment more than anything, the knowledge factor is a bonus, but reaching education goals is often a personal reward.

Finally getting my Bachelor's after 9 yrs... out of High School..Cum Laude btw ;)

I did pick up an Associates and a Technical Certification Diploma along the way...WHILE WORKING 2 JOBS..

wurd fam.

i took 7 courses (16 credits) this past fall, and came out with 5 a's and two b's.

being 25 years removed from college and working full-time, i'm doing the damned thang.

i may go into social working for a bachelors degree.

27 back in school....

time to finish up.....

I'm thinking about social work....

any advice family?

Fuck what ya heard, it's never too late for a black man to go to college. FUCk all the people that say that you have to get your degree in 4 years or you're a loser. FUCK all the bitches that say there's something wrong about getting a degree when you're in your 20s or 30s already.
.

I agree 100% its never ever too late, and the time to start is always now (for the 4 year).

yo how is that program?
i was thinking about, but instead opted for the physical therapy assistant program.

29 year old returning student here since i been back im holding a steady 3.25

got a bullshit associates in liberal arts the first time around, which is doing nothing for me :smh:
well,i shouldn't say nothing,my associates covered all the pre-reqs& all of the courses minus the actually pta core classes. i was only missing the anatomy & physiology courses, took them both last summer in two summer session,4 hrs a day 4 days a week(and i work full time)shit was rough at first ,but i got through it C+ and B+

i put my application to start the program next fall(they only start in fall),in the mean time i have been taking over all the classes i didnt do well in the first time around(had 4 D's replaced them all with B's and better) right now im taking the last class you can take without actually being in the program (medical terminology)sitting on an A so far in that.

shit is so much different, when you actually know what you want to do and have a focus.

Yo A to dah K i havent got into x ray tech core classes yet..jus doin my pre reqs at the moment, i go part time so it'll probably be forever before i even see them lol

once you get into the actual program, isn't it required of you to be a full time student?
