It's never too Late for a BLACK MAN to go to COLLEGE

History really is the best study to reward the researcher....

I respect your drive, my man, I'm still working on degree number two...

thanx

Its funny though I was never into reading books until a few years ago....I mostly read fantasy books cuz Im currently writing 2 books...I set the other 5 books aside for now....but its hard to stay motivated though....Ive always been the person who like to do new things in the family....

I havent program really since I graduated but I need to get back into though...I have so much on my plate a friend of mines been telling me I should cut down on a few things....:lol:

That is where it is at. CLEP, DSST, FEMA, GRE all that shit. You can knock out your undergrad easy and go to OSU for grad school. Good luck bruh. Military your most your tests are on the house I believe.

Thanks GS. I didn't know those other acronyms even existed. I will look into it.

FUCK THAT!! It's not how you get it; it's what you do with it that counts.

Go for it, my brothers (and sisters)!

Look, the thread is about never too late for a BLACK MAN to go to COLLEGE, not it's never Late for a BLACK MAN to FINISH College.

We need not be frogs simmering under a crock pot waiting to be cooked. None of that "Take it Slow" mantra should apply here. That's a comfort zone mindset. If you have other binding priorities to address it, so be it.

But when we start university/college at 18, your mark respectively should be 22,23 not 27,28. I admit, shit happens. But even you would question cats with high marks still in college longer than four years.

I encourage anyone to start college at any age. What I won't encourage is wasting time to finish it off whenever.

I'm also a non traditional student too, got my associate after finally getting serious about getting out of community college in 08. I'm 24 and I'm going back to school in a few weeks to be earn a bachelors degree.

Good to see all you brothers looking to better yourselves or have finished your education also.

Oh, fuck you Dayne with your "crab in a barrel" mentality, glad I have you on my ignore list.

Bumping to support bruhs who PRIZE education. To those who graduated or who are in school, much love and respect, my bruhs. To those who want to go--much support, bruhs!

grinding out double degree paths right now, go slow if you havent been in school for awhile then get on it

This nigga here is so bitchmade and pathetic. Prototype of a ignorant black hick with 5 cars in his drive way that thinks driving a tractor while listening to Plies is the good life. What kind of pussy ass nigga would name his kid "Dayne". Black trash coon of a father you had.

35 and going back to school.... not too proud of it but to hell with it. If I can't get into the school I'm waiting on now I'll fuck with Devry and I don't give a damn.

Thanks GS. I didn't know those other acronyms even existed. I will look into it.

Also check out straighterline and Aleks. Also, LSU offers course online cheap. For somebody starting from scratch this can make things a lot easier. If you have the time you can be applying for grad school by next year.

My daughter, 29, has been in college since 1998. She is not a Black Man, but I am proud of her just the same.

I'm happy for you. And I won't lend myself to any unwarranted bashing.

But do you care to explain why she's been in college since 1998? Ex. a family to raise, full time job, change in majors.

I need to know the fastest way to a Bachelor's. I got a bunch of credits spread out at various institutions $80 Gs in debt and no idea of where to start/finish :smh:

You're joking, right? That's one of the fastest ways to pay off college tuition if you're pursuing that afterwards.

basically

I went to Art Institute of Pittsburgh for about 9 months if I would of stayed and got my degree in Game Designing...I would of been paying 80,000 in student loans but since I went to a technical school I only gotta pay 1/4 of that 80,000....

I major was Software Applications and Programming

You probably know my fam he went there for the same shit.

My 23rd Birthday is coming up in 2 months and I still completely have no idea what I want to do career wise.

whatever you do, don't get discouraged. consult a private counselor, get a quote on their fees and peruse a list of careers you may be interested in.

Great thread. I'm 46, no college other than a semester of community college right after high school. I went the military route in life and now work overseas. I am very seriously thinking about going to Ohio State in the near future to get a degree. However the purpose for the degree is for not financial reasons. It would be a "check the box" sort thing and I've always wanted to say I am an alumnus of "The Ohio State University":D

Bruh...If youre prior military, look into taking the DANTES, and CLEP test for free. You can also look at having your military service evaluated for college semester hours. Hell just completing Basic Training will give you 4 semester hours off the bat.

Thanks. I've dealt with the grim reality and often joke about it all the time that I'll never retire and probably will be stocking shelve's at Wal-Mart until I lay in my death bed.

Nothing out their catches my interest...I would like to have a degree tho only for my Son's as encourgement to do something with their lives.

Fuck what ya heard, it's never too late for a black man to go to college. FUCk all the people that say that you have to get your degree in 4 years or you're a loser. FUCK all the bitches that say there's something wrong about getting a degree when you're in your 20s or 30s already. Just don't get all SIMPY on your application essay though: http://digg.com/educational/Essay_for_College_Admission_Pros_and_Cons_of_Weird_Topics

Any Ninjas that got their diplomas in NON-TRADITIONAL circumstances (took longer to get it, went to college at an older age, returning student, etc), Let your voices be heard!

Let's start with me: took me 7 years to get my degree. Was too busy working through college and chasing tail to get out in 4. How about yall?

it's never too late.

Really motivational thread. I've been plotting on going back myself for a while. My problem is I want to learn so damn much at the moment, I'd never leave college lol. Maybe I should get a degree, get hired into a job position at my college, then continue to study until my hearts content.

As an 18 yr, I was too immature for college and never did as well as I could have done. Academic probation sobered my ass up and I finished up strong on that come back semester. I landed a decent job and put college off to repay some debts and loans. I've been working the same job for the past 4 yrs full time. I figured I'll work really hard this year to pay off my car and credit card and return to college. I've got a lot of thinking to do in terms of a major.

I entered a four year age college at 22, finished it and 'bout to change careers. Not the best decision for life, but an excellent fallback if necessary.

At 22, I can't feel sorry for now but you gots to hustle to be exposed to the possibilities before you. Fuck comb through the Yellow Pages, Skim the general list at monster.com, Suit up with a muster board, and survey the rich CACs in their neighbors and find out what careers brought on the riches. Or hit up a Rich CAC church and get everyone to like your black ass. Get in that circle, player!!

I'm going to college for Business Mgmt. When I told my homeboy my plans he started laughing at me saying I'm to old to go to school. He's currently employed at a Wal-Mart in Georgia pushing shopping carts and he's happy with that. But I want more out of life so that's why I'm going.

I'm putting things together now so that I can go back for my Masters. Might as well. 18 months and I'm done.
