TMZ has confirmed that Isaiah Washington has been fired from the ABC hit "Grey's Anatomy."


Washington's rep Howard Bragman confirmed this evening to TMZ that "Grey's" creator Shonda Rimes called Isaiah today and told him he would not be invited back to the show next season. TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, who first broke the story, reports that the decision was due only in part to Washington's onset troubles and was a result of a "pattern of problematic behavior."

As for how he feels about his termination, Washington issued the following statement: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."

If this is true then I can't support this show anymore. Preston Burke was probably. the best character on the show besides maybe the Chief and Bailey. I don't see actually how the show can really survive without Isiah Washington and

Dude was becoming more and more irrelevant on the show anyway. His character was suffering from tremors, so that kept him out of most of the more interesting stories.

What he did was wrong, but if Imus gets fired for his bigoted remarks, then so should Isiah, plain and simple. There should not be a double standard in this regard. It was a tough decision for Ms. Rhimes to make, but it had to be made. It was either fire him or have an unhappy set and risk losing more than one star.

I liked Isiah on the show and it sucks that he had to leave, but he has to pay the price.

Sad but true. Isiah Washington has been in Hollywood long enough to know the rules. Plus there was tension between him and Patrick Dempsey. Isiah got into a scuffle with Dempsey awhile back. Built up tension because Washington originally auditioned for the part of Derrick "McDreamy"... but they gave the part to the white boy. So Washington had a lot of issues on set.

Washington can ONLY blame himself for this mess. Well guess I'll be watching Taye Diggs on the Grey's Anatomy spin-off.

I don't watch Grey's Anatomy, but I believe that Isiah Washington is a good actor. His role on Grey's gave him some good exposure that turned into bad exposure. It is hard enough for black actors to get roles like the one Isiah had. This is a personal tragedy for him and I hope that it does not trickle down to other black actors. Hopefully actors will learn from this. We all say the wrong things from time to time, but when your weekly paycheck is on the line it is better to guard your words. Isiah has a wife and children and he will have a difficult time getting work because of this experience. Because he is hurting he will continue to be the "angry black man." I hope someone gives him a job on a hit show although I know that it is unlikely that will happen.
