Much time was put into the development of this jailbreak, and it's smooth as butter - when you visit the website from your iPhone, you're greeted with a slick "Slide to Jailbreak" slider. And... well, that's it. You slide. It jailbreaks your iPhone. Cydia is on your homescreen. No restarting your phone (although when you open Cydia the first time it will do it's normal first-run rearranging of file system and require a restart), no button sequence, just a jailbroken iPhone 4. Or iPhone 3G. Or iPod Touch. Or iPad. You get the picture.

We expect Pwnage Tool to receive a refresh sometime soon for folks who like the added benefits it offers (root partition sizing, boot images, auto-install packages, non-userland jailbreak, etc), but for now there's no official time on a release for that, and my iPhone 4 is jailbroken. 3 cheers for comex and the Dev Team.

3gs 4.0.1 shit is working flawlessly. A few old school themes have a few problems but for the most part cydia and winter board are working fine. As is the phone.

You can customize the Home Screen and play all paid apps you find on Itunes using a program called Installous.

Whats appsync? Do you have a good site to get cracked apps?

app sync is a program you get from cydia after you jailbreak and it allows the cracked app to sync to your phone.

you search for you cracked apps through another program called installous which can also be found in cydia. larger apps like navigation programs you have to download to your computer and sync through itunes, which is another reason you need appsync

an advanced feature is using ssh to add things to the phone. you can youtube that and see how that works once you get familiar with the basics of cydia.

if you search the board there is an extensive iphone thread with all the good cydia apps and features.

I got it to install but it won't block shit I tried the "fix" they said would get it to work
WHICH IS ->>restore the database (inside the app)
add the ONE contact you want to block,
make a call to that number to setup the database properly
after that you can add as many contacts or lists as you want

I used this and it worked. Then when I installed the first package it crashed and went into safe mode. I couldnt get out of safe mode so I restored. Then I tried to go back to jailbreakme and it says "Looks like the installer crashed, try again." so I tried and its just that empty background and no downloading screen comes up.

I downloaded five icon springboard and my shit crashed into safe mode. I couldn't get out of safemode, nor could I delete 5 icon spring board. I was forced to restore Now I can't jailbreak. All I get is that leapord looking screen, but no download bar.... this blows...

Edit: I went into settings/general and did a full reset.. Now It's downloading....

I'm going in in about a hour on my 3gs. But anyone needing cracked apps make sure you have appsync and hit apptrackr.org for all your cracked app needs. It's the only source I use.

Of course you will get cydia but I find Rock a lot better, a lot faster and it backs up the stuff you have. Look for RockApp in cydia if you don't already have it.

Quick info u cats should know regarding jailbreK..... 1st of all excuse errors, I'm on my iPhone.

Once u have cydia, you are going to wat to add sources to it. Sources allows you to download shot from different hackers. You will have full access. Go to YouTube or google to find the most popular ones. You add them by going to cydia/ manage/sources/edit/add.
Type I. The URL exactly.

A must hav is installous. It's a free app store. Whatever is sold in the app store is here, only it's free.

Get a program called cydelete. This allows you to delete cydia programs you don't want anymore.

Get sb settings. It's a god program that gives you easy access to settings, toggles etc... Just swipe finger across status bar on the top of phone to use.

Openssh allows you to hack in the phone. It has come in handy for me lots of times.

5 icon dock allows you to have 1 additional icon in your dock, hence the name.

PDAnet is a must have. Bas long as you have an uimited data plan, you can use this program to tether. It works perfectly. I use my phone to power my MacBooks Internet when I'm places with no hotspots.

get wifi sync if you don't already have it....trust me.

It works for the 3G on 3.1.2, 3.1.3 and 4.0 my 3G on 4.0 us slow as hell I wouldn't recommend it

Only word of caution I will give is that certain apps you download from Cydia, if they are not 4.x tested and require you to restart you might be in trouble. Some apps crash the phone and put you in safe mode and you cannot get out of it. Then you have to restore again...

Facetime doesn't work over 3G only Wifi.

I think the jailbreak allows you to use it with 3G. If not, get a progeam called my3g. It tricks your phone into thinking it's on wifi so you can do all the things that only work with wifi while u are on 3g

Many people are curious to know how much data FaceTime over 3G actually uses. We put two iPhone 4s to the test, one running FaceTime over 3G, and took before and after screenshots of the data. As you will see, if you do the math, a 5 minute FaceTime call with lots of movement used 14.7 MB of data.

The jailbreak happens without any user intervention because of a security hole in iOS that allows a website to write data to your iPhone. Obviously if you can jailbreak an iPhone remotely, you can do just about anything else you want to it.

Your iOS device is insecure is such a big and obvious way right now. You should be extremely careful of what sites you visit.

MacStories details how a FlateDecode vulnerability is used as a PDF File embedded within a Web page (believe us, hackers already know this and are working on this as quickly as Apple is readying a fix). Basically iOS tries to parse the PDF file from the Web but, in doing so, it executes some code, that in this case allows you to jailbreak your device. It isn't rocket science to have it do something completely different.

Apple has to fix this almost immediately in an update. I imagine this is one of those "no one sleeps until an update is ready" type of moments in the iOS security team. Maybe not, but this is rather large.

Unfortunately, the reality is that not everyone updates their iPhone for every security risk. Even Steve Jobs was shown to be months behind security vulnerabilities on his iPhone. If Steve Jobs doesn't keep his iPhone current, there are going to be lots of people out there who are susceptible for a long time. Corporate IT managers are going to have a great time rounding up mobile workforces and force updates. That sales guy in Europe? That's just the beginning.

This has happened before without major incident:

The original iPhone jailbreak was a similar situation where a TIFF file format was exploited to gain control of the iPhone. However, that was a long time ago and a lot of iPhones have been sold since then. And iPods and iPads. The iOS is a much bigger target now and the rewards are much greater for hackers.

Ironically, one of the only ways to make sure your device is immune from such an attack is to jailbreak it and install a little code that will bring up a pop-up window before allowing the PDF to run on your computer. Pasted again from MacStories below.



Tweeted by @cdevwill earlier today, all you have to do is download this .deb file and open it on your device using either Terminal from your Mac, or iFile on the iPhone. Just download it and place it in /var/mobile.

- Using Terminal:

ssh root@your IP address

dpkg -i file.deb

Where “alpine” is the default password you’ll get after installing Open SSH from Cydia and “your IP address” is located under Settings – > Wifi – > active wifi connection.

- Using iFile:

Navigate to /var/mobile and double tap on the .deb file to install it.

Please be aware that this won’t fix the issue, but it’ll simply ask you if you really want to open a .PDF every single time. If the source is trusted, you can confirm. But if you happen to visit a website that tries to install malicious stuff on your iPhone using @comex’s method, then you’ll be able to kill it.

Apple will surely address the bug in a future iOS release, but if you want to be safe right now – give it a try.

PDF Loading Warner comes to Cydia


Yesterday we reported that Jailbreakme.com works because a of major PDF-based bug in iOS. This bug potentially allows hackers of all kinds to access your personal information stored on your iOS device. We also reported that a temporary solution is available via terminal command lines and working with your iOS device's internal file system. This solution is not a fix, just a way to warn you every time Mobile Safari attempts to download a PDF file.

Today, Will Strafach has released the same solution via a Cydia-based package called "PDF Loading Warner." Simply download and install the package and the solution will be installed. Every time Mobile Safari attempts to download a PDF you will get the following message:

I didnt buy the I 4 yet

anyone else on a 3gs having problems with data and reception after the jailbreak

I turned off spotlight but i fuckin get 1 bar everywhere i go... at work where I used to be at full strength and dl speeds of 1.5 mpbs i now get .1 or .4 mpbs

and cant complete a call or send a text

also get buzzing feedback radio interference shit with my speakers like before 3g

any clue how to fix this shit?

Just JB'ed my phone earlier today. I like it, it's hot. Anybody know of anything I can get to watch a flash video, for example like if i'm on worldstarthiphop.com on my Iphone 4?

Yea I can hear the video on Cloud Browse but the video play is laggy as shit.

Yeah. It gets you Flash, but a lot of times it is kinda draggy.

1) Download ROCKAPP, MYWI, and MY3G
2) Run BOTH MYWI and MY3G Get a damn LICENSE! You need it! Make sure you got the LICENSE!
3) Once you got your license you can delete MYWI
4) Install MYWI (NO ROCK) from elpelle6.com/repo
5) then go ahead and delete MY3G
6) Install MY3G (NO ROCK) from elpelle6.com/repo
7) delete ROCKAPP
8) Reboot (twice might be necessary)

*NOTE: DO NOT TRY TO RUN MYWI or MY3G until you finish step 8!

Now you have NO ROCK. Working MYWI and MY3G CRACKED and it doesn't bother you about how many days left on trial.
BEST OFF, NO HALF-INSTALL MESSAGE IN CYDIA!

A) Not sure if its the crack of MYWI, but when you use MYWI WIFI-Tether, it freezes up Settings -> WIFI. Temporary solution is to reboot (yeah I know it sux) or use SBSettings to turn on and off (but reboot allows you to access the settings if you need to add new networks)

Q )I don't see FaceTime under My3G settings, what do you have to do to enable it and how to get it working properly?
A) It's MobilePhone... and you have to enable "Use Direct Flag"

Nah, it tricks wifi only apps into thinking you are on wifi. e.g. You will be able to use FaceTime over 3G

I use both but restrict is better. It let's you use FaceTime. My 3G does not.

My3G's main advertisements says Facetime over 3G

update: version 4.1 and 4.2 says it supports Facetime over 3G

Install "sinfuliphonerepo.com" in sources, they have a cracked Lockinfo.

I have a 3G an upgraded to 4.0. HUGE mistake !! If you have an older 3G, I highly recommend you stay away from this upgrade. The new features that were added are not worth it. Fortunately, I found a link to where I was able to downgrade back to 3.1.3 . Here is the link if anyone needs it.

Anyone ever try the Infiniboard tweak? It lets your vertically scroll thru your springboard. Infinidock lets you side scroll thru your dock. I know it isnt working for the iPhone 4 yet but yall 3GS cats should check it out.
