I'm sorry to say it but, kobe is better than jordan!!

Different time and different game.

Kobe could never play in MJ's era. Was just to physical. That is the blaring difference. Kobe is nice dont get me wrong. I also hated Jordan because he kept Ewing and my boys from getting the much deserved rings. (Well Starks and bum ass Pat Riley helped)

Even if he could make it past the West back then. The Bad Boys and New York would have ate him alive after game 2.

That being said he has had Shaq 2nd best Center to play the game! Take away Diesel and he becomes a dude with a ring. Then he supporting cats is much greater then MJ. Please do remember if yall cats was around when MJ retired in his prime. Pippen looked like dodo!

MJ literally made his EVERYBODY on his team better and a load of money cause he made household names out of his starting 5.

Good argument but Kobe off the mark. Quite as kept I think LeBron will have a better chance at doing this just because well he is big as a house and still young and reaching some marks very quick

Agreed. Lebron is on Kobes' ass right now. F.. all that years from now. Kobe may not get those couple of rings needed to supplant MJ as the GOAT.

Lebron has the work ethic of a Kobe/Jordan and has physical tools neither one of them ever had. It's only a matter of time, and I think it will be sooner rather than later.

youre tripping bruh

the league made major defensive bans in 2000 like hand checking and camping out in the lane

it made the game much easier for the players of this decade
Zone defense my dude. Players of kobe's caliber, and lebron James and ESPECIALLY dwyane Wade would gladly tale hand checking in exchange for zone defense. Not to mention the fact you couldn't really hand check Jordan as you'd get whistled. So they'd love to get that. Those guys would average more points on a better shooting percentage if they had more one on one opportunities.

Kobe lebron and Wade would absolutely thrive in jordan's era. Let's not act like Jordan was facing off against all NBA talent every game. Remember when Wade was drafted him at 6'4 was considered undersized to be a 2, and he played his rookie year as a point guard. Yet in the 80s and 90's he'd be big for his position. 6'4 212. Jordan's 6'5 195.

Then lebron. Who would guard him? 6'8 250?

And Kobe isn't no chump. Dude relishes the tough play- he just feels if he's getting knocked around they better call it when it's a foul. Those three amd melo would all give Jordan hell.

And just for kicks. Any combination of Lebron/Kobe or Lebron/Wade = no six rings for MJ.

I don't even think, nor does MJ himself, that he would have beaten the 95 rockets.

That article reeks of Jordan hate about halfway through. When talking about Jordan as a teamate. Then its a Lakers source. Anytime you sway one way or the other you lose all credibilty... Kobe is great but Jordan is an Icon alot of people who cant really say they saw his best years, therfore this debate is only gonna get more comical the longer Jordan is gone. When Jordan was in his prime he had no equal... He didnt get one until Kobe came on the scene... Jordan started his career in the early 80s!!! Enough said... Kobe has peers, Lebron Wade, Melo...

This thread reeks of Kobe hate from the beginning.

Lebron, Wade and Melo are not on Kobe's level just like Drexler, Miller and Dumars weren't on Jordan's level.

I'm not even saying Kobe's career is as good as Jordan's yet but the margin isn't as wide as Jordan fans wanna make it.

To me. Kobe Lebron talk is akin to Duncan Garnett talk.

It's the same thing. All four great players, but two filled up the stat sheet more than the other two.

But people never put Garnett over Duncan, despite him not having as good a team as Duncan, and despite Duncan never having the all around stats Garnett did.

Lebron fills it up more than Kobe, but he's the primary scorer, ball handler, and plaaker in addition to being the secondary scorer, ball handler and playmaker. His stats are like kobe's in 05. Amazing, but ultimately his best production will come in the seasons those numbers dip.

kobe is good, but he's no Jordan.

1.) the league has a lot less talent due to expansion and early entries than ever before. look at the East. a sub .500 team can make the playoffs. jordan never played with so many kids in the league. the separation between the good teams and bad teams theses past years has never been so apparent.

2.) kobe has WAY more talent on his team than Jordan ever had. Kobe's 3rd best player is a toss up between Artest and Bynum. the 3rd best teammate Jordan ever had was Rodman who was a defensive and rebounding force but a huge liability offensively.

3.) when Jordan played, you can handcheck. the Knicks and Pistons BEAT jordan up. literally, as soon as he crossed halfcourt, hands were on him. despite this, Jordan averaged 30+. imagined if he played with today's rules? 40+ a game is a reality.

4.) kobe has ALWAYS had a dominant big man inside to open up the outside for him. someone mentioned it earlier, Longely, King, Wennington, Perdue. even with Pippen on the wing, the Bulls were a perimeter team making it harder on their offense.

5.) the Bulls management. if Krause and Resindorf weren't dickheads, the Bulls woulda won 3 more championships.

6.) Kobe almost got traded TWICE! first time, the Bulls wouldn't give up Luol Deng. the 2nd time Kobe didn't want to get traded to Chicago if Deng was included in the deal to go to LA. never ever heard the mention of trading Jordan because there was no such thing as equal trade value for him.

7.) Jordan's retirement. if he never retired those 2 times and just kept playing, he would have most of the records in the league. plausible to think he coulda had close to 10 rings.

kobe is good. but he ain't jordan good.

Did Jordan say this or something?

Don't like Jordan or Kobe but, as it stands now, Jordan led his teams to 6 championships while Kobe has led his team to 1 and was on the teams that Shaq (don't like him either) led to 3.

When LeBron can get somebody who is willing and can play Scottie to his Mike. Mo Williams isn't it and neither is Shaquille O'Neal.

I recall reading an article where MJ said he thought the rockets could have beaten him. This is after his career. Can't find it now, posting from the iPhone.

I always thought the 95 Rockets could have handled the Bulls, too. They were an all time team and Hakeem was playing out of his mind.

I hated Jordan growing up as he took a lot of championships away from my Knicks but I still recognize & acknowledge what he brought to the game. Comparing rings is already a losing battle for Kobe fans as 3 of Kobe's rings came on a team where he wasn't even the main man. He was the beneficiary of having Shaq in his prime. If anything those 3 rings would put him more in comparison with Pippen than Jordan.

No debating that Kobe is talented & will go down as 1 of the greatest to play the sport but to compare him to Jordan is ridiculous. Jordan held down the spot for greatest for over an entire decade while Kobe already has competition in Lebron. Who knows, years from now we may hear debates over whether Lebron is the greatest player of all time.

dude, i knew you liked kobe but i didnt know you were a stan

this shit you typed is beyond ridiculous

its obvious you know nothing about the game and how the game changed "after" jordan retired because offensive production went south

thats why they made rules for hand checking and the defensive 3 second rule

besides that, Kobe is a fucking jump shooter at this stage in his career, do you really think he wants to be hand checked????

why do you think Jordan developed and perfected the turn around J....as he aged, it couldnt be defended

man from now on, im debating cats who have a basketball IQ

this shit is ridiculous!:smh::smh::smh::smh:

nigga that is a fucking list....You listed the things that Kobe has done that Jordan didnt as the premise of your argumetn....are you stupid.:smh::smh::smh::smh: ok..you made the list..unfortunately the list of things that Jordan has done that Kobe hasnt even infinintely longer..

This shit is an easy argument. Kobe doesnt win in either of two ways you can analyze this... quantatively (stats) or qualitatively (accomplishments like titles, mvps, etc). And its easy to analyze being the played the same position.

:yes::yes::yes::lol::lol::lol::dance::dance::dance:

And Mike did it during a time where people actually played defense.

You are right my friend, Magic had Bird and Kobe is not in a class by himself. LeBron is ready to take his thrown if you ask me. If Jordan played with Shaq he would have at least 10 titles, he would of not let his ego get in the way of winning championships, the nigga played with Dennis Rodman, I rest my case.

Kobe is definitely a better shooter than MJ...

Let's wait until Kobe retires before we crown him.

Top 5 of all-time for sure!!!

Word?

MJ Career FG% .497

Kobe Career FG% .456

exactly.... people seems to be allergic to stats here
That's comparing Jordan's final stat to Kobe's active stats. Jordan will never be able to better hi percentage, but Kobe can. If you cats are going to quote and rebut the man, address his entire quote...

They're only 0.041% separated. You don't think Kobe can close that gap before retiring?

That's comparing Jordan's final stat to Kobe's active stats. Jordan will never be able to better hi percentage, but Kobe can. If you cats are going to quote and rebut the man, address his entire quote...

Kobe would have to shoot in the mid 50s for the rest of his career to catch Jordan. Impossible......not going to happen.

Kobe has no chance statistically against Jordan. He is playing for TITLES now.. it is the only real way he will be able to make his case... he has catch Jordan is titles.. that is the most important thing for him to do now...and it is very possible that he can do that with this young Laker team..

They're only 0.041% separated. You don't think Kobe can close that gap before retiring?

Dude its career FG% which means its pretty much always going to stay around the same average after 13 years of playing..and dude said Kobe was a way better shooter, and I was showing that they're pretty much the same..........and as far as Kobe closing the gap historically the number goes down after not up and Kobe hasn't shot over .470 for his whole career.....and Jordan shot over .495 8 times in his career......AND If Jordan wouldn't have played those last 2 years with Washington his would have been even higher :dunno:

Kobe has no chance statistically against Jordan.

Well, he will end up the 2nd highest scoring player in history. But average-wise, no, he won't likely end up surpassing Jordan in any major category (other than FT% and 3-PT%).

dude, i knew you liked kobe but i didnt know you were a stan

this shit you typed is beyond ridiculous

its obvious you know nothing about the game and how the game changed "after" jordan retired because offensive production went south

thats why they made rules for hand checking and the defensive 3 second rule

besides that, Kobe is a fucking jump shooter at this stage in his career, do you really think he wants to be hand checked????

why do you think Jordan developed and perfected the turn around J....as he aged, it couldnt be defended

man from now on, im debating cats who have a basketball IQ

this shit is ridiculous!:smh::smh::smh::smh:

How can I take YOU seriously when all you did was focus on one name?

I mentioned Lebron and Wade and even Melo. Yet all you do is focus on my mentioning of Kobe also.

The fact is, there was a lull in talent in the NBA after Jordan. This happens in the NBA. Weren't Magic and Bird considered as guys who saved the NBA? There was a lull before them too. Now look at the NBA, it's rich with talent.

The changes in rules were to help the white and foreign players that started coming into the league.

Yep. That is about the only stat he really has a legitimate chance of surpassing Jordan with no problem. But there is a long list of the stats where Jordan will remain well above Kobe.

I think Kobe needs to make his case by getting a couple more titles. He still has a few more years on those legs and the Lakers have a young nucleus and Phil Jackson.... and with the way the Lakers are playing, they do have a legitimate chance of winning a couple of more titles...especially with Garnett struggling with his knees.. Ive always though a healthy Boston team would have beaten the Lakers last year but Garnett cant stay healthy

Did you know that in Jordans first year w/ the Wizards, he had more 40+ games than any other player in the NBA that year?

You're definitely young.

Yea younger kids don't understand, they weren't around to watch jordan. Even when Jordan had those amazing games against the Jazz I was a little ass kid. Early 20's cats like myself have a hard time understanding everything cuz we didn't see too much. Remember what I saw was crazy to watch though.
