A friend of mine and I were recently discussing how he is one of the best storytellers ever in the hip-hop game.

I agree.

I used to listen and rewind and listen and rewind Jackin For Beats continually. He's a genius in my book.

Good hip-hop is good hip-hop no matter who it comes from.

He is the greatest story teller, next to Kool G. Rap.

I don't think it was overlooked, it was more so unexpected. People didn't look to get visuals from him, so they didn't. At that time, people were only checking for East Coast rappers on the storytelling.

IMO, also forgotten. I was cracking a joke on this 23 yr old girl, told her she better check yourself before you wreck yourself, she looked at me like I was crazy.

Big ups to Cube always for being a real cool cat, and an originator.

Fuck his boy Matt Alvarez, aka business manager in CubeVision, Fuck that **** borderbrother foe life!

He was when his cousin, Del the Funky Homosapien, was ghostwriting for him.

Man Del never was a ghostwriter for Cube he was just in his old crew the Lench Mob. Kam was too.

He was also a ghostwriter. Much of the sense of humor in Ice Cube's earlier rhymes was due to Del, just as much of Cube's militancy was due to Kam. When Cube stopped working with both of them, he lost both of those influences and was on some generic West Coast shit instead.

First I've ever heard of this and I'm a big Cube fan. Hes always considered himself a 'real' emcee and said he would never let anybody else write his rhymes. I'll have to read some direct quotes from Del and Kam to believe this one.

Del helped Cube write a few lyrics bacc in the day, but not an entire song....Cube has admitted to having some input from Del, but Cube wasn't pulling a Dr.Dre & D.O.C., (meaning D.O.C. is the one writing all the lyrics and Dre is just the frontman who is reciting em)....Cube wrote & writes his own lyrics, but may have needed a line or two to make it complete...I'm not sure if Del got co-written by credits on those songs, but Del, Kam, & K-Dee were all heavy influences in his earlier work
