I believe he is speaking on sighting the weapon.

This is my Beretta PX4 Storm (.40 compact), I went to purchase the sub-compact but I did not like the fit in my hand.

I like SA/DA pistols.

Question of the day: Why did S&W invent the .40 round?

After that shootout in Miami those slain FBI officers

Springfield Arms XDm, 40 cal... if you can find one! Then you'd have to find some ammo!:roflmao: Good luck with your firearm and ammo search!

im in florida. when can you use a firearm? if youre getting your ass kicked, but guy has no weapon, whats the verdict? shit is getting hetic out here. man, im going to get a mossberg and some buckshot for the house.

My 2 cents, I think a new gun owner should look into a Glock or a S&W. First you can't compare a Glock to a Sig and HK. A Glock is $550-$700 and Sig and HK are about $900-$1100. Really don't like the cheaper Sig and HK. I say go to a gun range and try different guns. I don't think you can go wrong with a Glock. I own Glocks,S&Ws and Ruger but I carry a Glock 27 and sometimes a LCP. Once you get your gun make sure you shoot it often at the range.

My order of 6.8 Rem spc just got dropped off an hour ago. I use this site all the time to find ammo. They had Cabela's listed $1 per round for 6.8. Which is as cheap as your gonna get for that caliber.

.40 cents per round for Federal FMJ .40 S&W=$19.99

I really meant good luck finding ammo... FOR ANY GUN! The fuck if imma pay $42.50 for 50 rounds of 40 cal. JHP from any brand! Even if it's Federal Hydra-Shock, which is the BEST hollow-point around!!! IF you can find an XDm 40 for a good price, pick that shit up QUICK!

Springfield Armory > Glock

Look at my previous post...

I never have trouble finding either. There are probably 100 gun shops within a mile of here not to mention all of the walmarts, ranges and pawn shops.

Look at my previous post...

I DID! 40 S&W is really hard to come by with the Gubment buying up the popular calibers! The only time I'd spend $42.50 on a shitty brand of 40 S&W JHP ammo, is if I had no choice in TRYING to protecting my family!!!

First gun... yeah in light of that f'ed up verdict. Seems like this one is a popular choice due to it's size.

I know absolutely nothing about these things so just looking for some tips. We have a gun show next weekend here and I'm probably gonna pick one up there.

are you looking to carry?

Folks like the LC9.....

you could also go with that new xds 9 mm by Springfield

or a baby glock....

yeah..this thread has started to go south...

man go to a gun shop and pick up diff pistols...if you have not handled a gun then you will have to develop hand strength and the feel of it.

if your worried about ammo prices and all that other bullshit you dont need a gun

Da fuck are you talking about? You clearly didn't look at the site. Either that or you can't read. The site has a lot of available ammo. At least 100 different options available...

And thats just for .40 S&W

Interesting fact if you want 2 guns in one and have the glock 27 for the price of a 9mm barrel and mags you can pretty quickly and simply convert the glock 27 (.40 cal) into a 9mm. This allows you to save $$$ at the range shooting the cheaper ammo and still having the 'stopping power' of a .40 cal:yes:

yeah..the conversion is cool but I rather just stick with what I got...

that is the problem...we get caught up in all the hype about changing shit and dont even spend enough time at the range

Love this thread fellas! The time for marching is over...we've been doing that for 50+ years and they still value dogs lives over human lives.

Exactly my reasoning for starting this thread

FUCK it is time to introduce everyone that is well known in the GUN world say hello to tannerite, which is 100% legal in most states we just make our own

Do tell... is that the thing where you can "print" a gun?

Now this is interesting... I could get to learn how to use/shoot 2 guns for the price of one.

Heard on the news about ammo a while back, is it really that hard to get now or have supplies replenished?

You can get ammo shit just aint as cheap or readily available as it used to be. Like I said my 1st pistol was the .380. when the 08 elections were going down they scared all the CAC's into thinking Obama gon take their guns and ammo for .380's was scarce. Thats when I focused on have gun/weapons in similar easy to find rounds. Than fucking the shit in Connecticut went down and every thing dried up:smh:

If you want a 9mm.....

Get a GLOCK 19 and then get a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 carbine that's chambered for GLOCK 19 mags.

Thank me later.

The carbine gives you similar velocity to a .357 but with more accuracy.

It's foldable (more concealable)

And there are plenty of mods available.

Nah Tannerite is what they make explosive targets and shit out of they sell it at most gun shops.

Supplies have gotten a lot better recently, a couple months ago it was hard to find ammo or ar15 parts but the market was flooded so now things are cheap.

Because 9mm are under powered. They lacked take down power. Too many shots needs. The 10mm was over powered. So the 40 cal fit a demand and it works damn well.

Most police precincts still use 9mm FYI. And for the record, the difference between a 9 and a 40 as far as stopping power is basically shot placement. If you can't shoot for shit it's not going to matter which one you have. If I hit you once in the head or chest with a 9, you're not going to keep coming at me. And this is coming from someone with a 40. The stopping power between the two is actually pretty minimal.

http://www.familyfriendsfirearms.com/Stopping Power Statistics.htm

And also, if you're a novice shooter, you're more likely to be accurate with the 9 than the 40...a 40 subcompact is not a good starter gun for someone that doesn't know how to compensate for the kick. Larger rounds isn't gonna do you any good if you're hitting air.

Question of the day: Why did S&W invent the .40 round?

The .40 was a compromise.

Federal agents were bitching about their inability to handle full house 10mm loads, so the .40 was developed as an alternative. Best of both worlds: capacity as compared to the .45ACP, and better terminal ballistics(at the time) than the 9mm. Modern day 9mm cartridges fare VERY well nowadays.

I prefer 9mm(own 2 -P7 and P30) and .45acp(will eventually own the HK45C).

Had a P2000SK in .357sig for a period of time. WHAT A ROUND!

I have never like the 40... nasty, snappy recoil I don't care for at all.

Oh OP, just get to a range that rents guns if possible, and try out as many different platforms and calibers that you can.

If that's not a possibility, just get a G19 or G26 and call it a day. Don't get caught up in the caliber wars, and the whole "stopping power" debate, cause the truth is all handguns are relatively poor people stoppers.

Pick your gun and and get good with it.

how do you like your 6.8? what distance you shooting at? I am thinking about the 6.5 grendal with a 18-20 inch barrel

And this is why I said he'd be better off with a 9. 40's aren't for beginners, the recoil alone would fuck up a beginner's shot placement. Personally I love 40 subcompacts but i've been carrying concealed for 10 years.

Them hoes are hard to find & from my research, da ammo is a lil' pricey as well but goddamit, I want one. I'll save up for one till one becomes available. They can go from 1,500 & upwards.

Honestly not worth the price unless you can find one around $1,000-1,100. I think more from a carrier's pov and the recoil on that gun makes it impractical. It's more of a trophy case type gun.
